II Chronicles 33:1 "Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:"The word "Manasseh" means "forgetting". Hezekiah named his son Manasseh because God made Hezekiah forget his troubles, yet Manasseh the child king will live many years to become the worst of all the kings of Judah. In his youth, growing up in the household of Hezekiah, he witnessed the destruction of the altars of Baal, the cleaning up of the groves, and all the other forms of idolatry, yet when this little fellow was placed on the throne of Judah, he allowed all the wickedness of his counselors around him to control his actions and give his orders. Remember he was only a child of twelve years old when his father died, and the nation Judah allowed itself to slip back into idolatry far worse than it had ever been before. They had just tasted of the blessings that God bestows on a nation when it follows God's ways, and now they are about to turned their backs to God, and his laws. The Apostle Paul warned us that all these things that we are reading of in these Old Testament events are warnings or "ensamples" to us living in this last and final generation. I Corinthians 10:11, 12 "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." [11] "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." [12] We are living in the generation of the parable of the fig tree, and our generation is the generation that the "ends of the world are come" upon. Our generation saw what happened when the laws of God are replaced by mankind tampering with their laws to allow them to do as they please. In the 1930's the Germans changed their laws to allow their "Quality of life", the pleasures and desires of their heart take precedence over the "Sanctity of life", the value of each soul. Their end was to kill off any living being that did not suit the form of life those in charge thought their society should be. The doctors and lawyers were the first to be pleased, and those in the labs. The opened the flood gates in the laws and lifted those governing abortion. Then came the killing of those mentally ill; the genocide of the Jews, then the aged and on and on, until their laws forced the elimination [outright murder] of those that just did not fit into their society. As you read this chapter, stop and look around our land at the laws that are being put in place. Pay attention to what this one world government and its many agencies are trying to make into the law. God's Word warned our generation that it would take place, and when the German government of the 30's and 40's allowed Hitler and all his followers to take over first their government and then Europe, this should have been a warning to all people of our generation. When you remove the laws and order that God established in His Word, then the mind of man controls the events that will follow. I Corinthians 10:13, 14 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." [13] "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry." [14] It all starts with the laws of God being replaced by changing them to the will of those at the top of the government. The things of God being replaced by the handiwork and mind of man. This is idolatry. II Kings 21:1 "Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah." Hezekiah's wife "Hephzibah" means "my delight is in her". This is in reference to the marriage of Isaiah 62:4 A prophecy, given at the time of Hezekiah foretelling a happier time, even as in the time when things were so good that the king became ignorant and foolish in his actions. II Chronicles 33:2 "But did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel." Manasseh was guided to take up all the evil things and forms of worship that had gone on in Judah prior to Hezekiah's time. It's sort of like the World Council of Churches of today. If a nation is taken into the United Nations, then they bring their heathen religious forms of idolatry and gods, and take their seat at the table of the World Council of Churches. Yet Manasseh went far beyond this, for Manasseh even practice the Molech worship, the giving of his own flesh and blood child in altar fire sacrifice. He brought Judah back into the sex orgies of the groves, and the sacrifices to Baal. II Chronicles 33:3 "For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them." Manasseh built back the high places that queen Jezebel brought into the Houses of Israel and Judah. When the Kenite King Earbaal and King Omri of Israel wanted binding and lasting peace between their nations, they sealed it with the marriage of their four children to each other. Thus the Kenites established themselves at the control point of the nation of Israel. Jezebel and Ahab used this same form in marriage to tie their government in Israel to Jehoshaphat's government in Judah. Thus with the marriage came all the filth of idolatry through their children. Jezebel's daughter Athaliah tried to eliminate all the sons of the lineage of David that were heir to the throne, but small infant Joash was rescued by his sister. Jezebel brought in her prophets and priest of Baal with their forms of religious practice, and those practices never left Israel. Queen Athaliah brought those practices of Baal into Judah, but Hezekiah tore out those high places and their altars, and burned their groves and idols used in their sex orgies. Now at Hezekiah's death his son is bringing all of those wicked ways back into the land of Judah. Worshipping all the host of heaven, means angel worship, making gods out of men that have died and passed on. We are warned in Deuteronomy 17:1-4 that God will bring judgment down on any nation that practices these wicked forms of worship. It is setting the things of God's creation over the Creator Himself. Each created being including Satan is part of God's creation. All things are made to give honor and praise to God alone. Revelation 4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created." II Chronicles 33:4 "Also he built altars in the house of the Lord, whereof the Lord had said, "In Jerusalem shall My name be for ever." II Kings 21:2; "And he did the evil in the sight of the Lord, after the abominations of the heathen..." This child king allowed these altars to be built, then he took part in all the heathen religious forms that were put back in place. II Chronicles 33:5 "And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord." God designated that His altar would be in Jerusalem. II Kings 21:4 "And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, "In Jerusalem will I put My name." In the very place where the altar of God was removed, Manasseh build all these heathen altars. II Chronicles 33:6 "And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger." Manasseh's great grandfather Ahaz was the first king of Judah to actually sacrifice his child on the altar to Moloch [Molech], but burn his child to this heathen god. [II Kings 16:3] Manasseh had sunk so deep into sin that he cause several of is children to be murdered in the same fashion. When you read of each of these sins that Manasseh brought back into practice, think of what they are, and how they relate to our times. Wizards are fortune tellers, and we read of their perditions in the papers, one the air, and pay money for them to tell their lies today. "Familiar spirits" are spirits of divination. It's listening to lying spirits and saying they are from God, when they are spirits of the devil. This is what King Saul did when he went to the wicked witch of Endor, and had her call up a familiar spirits. No it wasn't Samuel nor his spirit, but a familiar spirit that would say what Saul wanted to hear, then claim that it was Samuel doing the talking. We read in Acts 16:16 that they were common in Paul's day, and it is a practice that is going on everywhere today. It seems that mankind today is trying to think up every form of idolatry, and ways to provoke God to Anger, just as Manasseh was doing here. These are warning to you and I living in this generation; for when you see it happening, remember that the end is not far off. Satan must come before the end is here, as we read in Revelation 12:7, but God has shortened that time of Satan's tribulation for the elect's sake. II Chronicles 33:7 "And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In the house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put My name for ever:" Man made images, idols made from the skilled hands of crafters are not to be placed in the house of God. Things that men look to in place of focusing on the Lord were and still are not to be in the house of worship. The things that were to go into the house of the Lord were given to Moses back in the wilderness, and those were the holy things, the things set aside only for the house of God. II Chronicles 33:8 "Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses." God told Moses that this is His Law, and He would not change it one bit. When our Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross to pay the price for the sins of those that would believe on His Name, and come to Him in repentance, only those ordinances pertaining to blood sacrifices would be done away with. All the laws and statutes would continue on unchanged. Jesus told us this in His sermon on the mount in Matthew 5:17-20. Matthew 5:17, 18 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." [17] "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." [18] Heaven and this earth age of flesh man shall not pass away until our Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth at the seventh trump, then all flesh is changed in the wink of an eye. Then we enter into that Millennium kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. It isn't over until after the Millennium and the judgment seat of God has taken place and this old earth is gone. At this time God's elect, and those that have come to him under the blood of Christ see that new heaven and new earth come down to replace this old heaven and earth. Then will the law be replace, for God will be with us in person, and sin and Satan and all those that followed him will be turned to ashes and even be removed from our minds. When someone tries to tell you that you can violate the health laws because they were done away with at Christ's death; Jesus just told you that they were not. You can eat those creatures that God created to clean up the earth, but when you do, expect those poisons from those creatures to enter into and become part of your body. When your body is full of sickness, don't blame God for your ignorance of His health laws. Don't allow yourself to follow bad advise and foolish wisdom from some so called teacher of the Word. II Chronicles 33:9 "So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel." Manasseh was just a child when he became the king of Judah. The people listened to his foolishness, and they followed it. Stop and look around us today, for most of this same foolishness is common practice today. The people of Judah stood by and watched as the Assyrians came against the House of Israel and destroyed that nation for their wickedness. They knew from the prophets of God that this was punishment for turning their backs to the laws and ways of God. The people of Judah knew that their brethren had sinned greatly before the Lord and refused to change their ways. These people also had tasted the blessings of God when Hezekiah had cleaned up the Temple. They took part in destroying the altars to Baal, the groves and all the rest of their wickedness. Yet here they are shutting their eyes to what is going on all around them and allowing this child king is bringing all his wicked toys back into their lives. Before you start blaming these people of old Judah, look at what our people in America, England and the rest of the Christian world are allowing too enter our lands. Each year there are more murders of unborn children on the altars of doctors offices tables than the entire population of old Judah. Our scientists are changing the very foundation of God's creation, by their cloning, and altering of DNA in their laboratories. The laws governing marriage are being so changed that Sodomy is thought of as just another life style, and the wickedness of wizards and spirits of Divination are so common that it isn't given a second thought amongst most Christians today. We are so busy chasing after the speck in our brother's eye, that we simply can't see the log in our own eye. Friend, we are in the end times, and when you see all the things happening that have not happened before, expect it. God told you it would happen, so don't sit back assume otherwise. God has given us a warning and told us everything that was to happen in our generation as an example from these stories from the Old Testament, so expect it to happen. II Chronicles 33:10 "And the Lord spake to Manasseh, and to his People: but they would not hearken." When the Lord spoke to Manasseh and the people of Judah through His prophets, they closed their minds to what the prophets of God were saying. Jeremiah spelled it out in Jeremiah 4:22; "For My people is foolish, they have not known Me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding; they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge." "Sottish", by the way means, "just plain STUPID". Good has become bad, and bad, good; and if it feels good, then it is okay. This is exactly how it is in our day. God turned Sodom was turned to fire and brimstone, and yet people of today are trying to tell you that it is another way of life. Killing the unborn for body parts and self satisfaction to cover over the sin that took place is all justified within our laws today. These are the same laws that Germany had in their laws, so the unborn could be slain, along with the mentally ill, the aged, the Jews, and any other person that got in the way of reform. God is telling you to wake up, He is speaking to you and I through His Word, just as He spoke to Manasseh and the people through his prophets. II Chronicles 33:11 "Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon." Manasseh and the people would not listen to the Lord God Almighty, so God used the king of Assyria to teach him a lesson. This time when Assyria came against Jerusalem, there was no stopping them, and King Esar-haddon and the Assyrian army marched in with their "thorns"; their hooks and rings to climbed the walls and they tore down their gates, and took the city captive. Do you get the lesson here? If God is protecting even Sennacherib can't get into the city, but when God removes His protective hand, those "hooks and rings" can tare down what ever defenses you think you are protected by. If God's people don't step in and make a stand to end all this insanity going on in our land, then expect it to happen here right before your eyes. Our enemies will become God's army to do the correction that God has warned us would be coming our way. Take the time to read of the blessings and cursings of Deuteronomy 28, for they are promises that God is making to you, and every generation that has existed from the time of Moses; then expect those things. II Chronicles 33:12 "And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers," Why do people wait until they have hit the bottom, bound in chains, and everything of value gone out of their life before they will listen to the instructions of the Lord from His Word and prophets. God doesn't do anything but what he tells you and warns you ahead of time; so when those hard times come, stop and humble yourself before the Lord. It took the loss of his throne and the ruin of his nation before Manasseh would wake up to his sin and wickedness. II Chronicles 33:13 "And prayed unto Him: and He was intreated of Him and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord He was God." We can read of those wicked acts of Manasseh, the shedding of innocent blood on the altars of Moleck [Molock] and all the other things in II Kings 21. Manasseh did things that even the House of Israel never thought of in their sins. When God saw the humble heart of Manasseh, and heard his prayers of repentance, God restored Manasseh to his throne and gave him back his kingdom. Just like his father Hezekiah, Manasseh then turned to clean out all those wicked altars, groves and other forms of wickedness that he allowed to enter into Jerusalem, and Judah, for he knew YHVH to be his Lord, and that He was God. No matter how far we have sunk as a nation, or an individual, once you understand that Love of our heavenly Father and that there is forgiveness at the cross of Christ, that is the time to humble yourself in repentance. Seek the Lord and He will hear your supplication. The blood of Jesus Christ is sufficient to cover all sins of those that will believe on His name. John 3:16, 17 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." [16] "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." [17] The world today is trying to tell us that there are many ways to salvation and to God, but God Himself is telling you that there is only one way. That way is through your belief that the blood of Christ is for you, and was sufficient to cover all your sin. When you believe it and come to God in repentance in the name of Jesus, you are saved. If you try any other, you are not. It's your choice, and that choice is absolute. God is waiting on your response to His offer. II Chronicles 33:14 "Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah." II Chronicles 33:15 "And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the Lord, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city." When there is a true conversion, then changes are made on the outside; and changes are made inside your heart and mind also. Manasseh saw that the ways of his father Hezekiah were right, and he turned himself and his nation back to the One True and Loving God. Most people just don't understand that our Lord wants to protect you and bless you, but He gives you the choice of the way you will follow for your life. At first Manasseh chose the ways of Satan, and the Kenites, but after he hit the very bottom of his life, he came to realize that he was following the wrong path. He humbled himself, repented and sought to do things God's way. In Manasseh's day the way back to the Father was through animal sacrifices, at the altar of God. After the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, you and I can go directly to the Father, and our way is "in Jesus Name". Why? We are telling our Heavenly Father that we believe in our heart that the death and blood of Christ was sufficient to cover our sin, and in repentance we humble ourselves before him, just as Manasseh did there in chains in that Assyrian prison. II Chronicles 33:16 "And he repaired the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel." II Chronicles 33:17 "Nevertheless the People did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the Lord their God only." Even though Manasseh tried to clean up the land from all forms of Idolatry, the people themselves kept their high places, and tried to make their sacrifices to God, and to their gods in the high places. II Chronicles 33:18 "Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and this prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel." These are the books of I and II Kings, which we have been referring to here. II Chronicles 33:19 "His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the saying of the seers." II Chronicles 33:20 "So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead." II Chronicles 33:21 "Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem." Amon was like his father when he came into office, he listen to the people around him, and allowed all sorts of wickedness to enter back into the land. II Chronicles 33:22 "But he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh has father had made, and served them;" Amon tried to dig up those things that his father made for idolatry, and use them for himself. II Chronicles 33:23 "And humbled not himself before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more." II Chronicles 33:24 "And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house." The servants within his won household saw what was going in and killed Amon. II Chronicles 33:25 "But the People of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the People of the land made Josiah his son king in is stead. " The common people that lived in the land of Judah did not like the way that Amon was doing things and they conspired with these servants to murder him and appoint Amon's son Josiah to the throne of Judah.
