I CHRONICLES Chapter 27"Civil Appointments." This
Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's
transcription/ location I Chronicles 27:1 "Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:2 "Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." Now as you read this listing of men over the age of twenty, remember that David is forming an army, against the will of God. This was a sin to David. Most of these names will not be named in any other place in the Scripture, other than in these Kenite Scribe writings. However, David is making up the force of fighting men that he will use in battle for the protection of Israel. Before this time, David and the Israelites relied on the Lord for their protection, but now this nation of Israel will be looking to their army of conscripts for protection. There will be no women in this army, and there will be twelve division of men with each division numbering 24,000, each commanded by one of the thirty captains designated over the army. David's small army of 600 men came into being before this numbering took place, and were divided into three groups of 200 men in each fighting unit. This is discussed in I Samuel 23:13 and else where. David placed his 600 men in a higher category for protection than those twelve divisions of the army, and the captains were of lower rank in the army than any of the 600 of David's fighting elite. I Chronicles 27:3 "Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month." I Chronicles 27:4 "And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand." The "course" was a division of men numbering 24,000 men over the age of twenty that were able to fight in battle. I Chronicles 27:5 "The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:6 "This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son." I Chronicles 27:7 "The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:8 "The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:9 "The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:10 "The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:11 "The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:12 "The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:13 "The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand." I Chronicles 27:14 "And the eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Menaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. I Chronicles 27:15 "The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and for thousand." I Chronicles 27:16 "Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:" These first four sons of Israel are the sons of Jacob's wife Leah, then in Genesis 30:18, two more sons were born to Leah, Issachar and Zebulun. I Chronicles 27:17 "Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: Of the Aaronites, Zadok:" I Chronicles 27:18 "Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:" I Chronicles 27:19 "Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: Of Naphtali, Jerimothe the son of Azriel: I Chronicles 27:20 "Of the Children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: Of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:" The tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, the offspring of Joseph, as well as the tribe of Benjamin came from Jacobs wife Rachel. Genesis 48:14-21 tells us how Jacob adopted the two sons of Joseph, that gave Joseph a double blessing, as well as the right to carry the three blessings of God to Abraham, in the Abrahamic covenant. That Covenant promise from God to Abraham was not conditional, and it was eternal. So in this time of the end of this "fig tree generation", stop and look at the nations that are now bless by God, and feeding the world, as well as protecting giving direction in every avenue of their existence. One would have to be blind to pass over the United States and England, especially when the very royal family traces their lineage all the way back to David, Jacob [through Judah], Isaac and Abraham. This was a promise that God gave to David that there would never be a time when a person from David's offspring would not be sitting on the throne over Israel, not the house of Judah. Jeremiah 33:16 "In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness.' " Before Jacob died, he blessed all over his sons, and told them what their families would grow into in the years to come. Judah was blessed with a special blessing. Genesis 49:8 "Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies: thy father's children shall bow down before thee." Why will Jacob's children "thy father" always bow down to Judah? Because a member of that family, will be on the throne over the nation(s) that has been designated as Israel, all the way into the Millennium age. This is a promise from God through Jacob to Judah. Where is Judah today? Genesis 49:9 "Judah is a lion's whelp: form the prey, my son thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?" Genesis 49:10 "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto Him shall the gathering of the people be." "Shiloh come" is the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ at the seventh and last trumpet. Expect there to be the royal family over England and her nation(s), and bowing to that family to the time that our Lord will come and take the throne over Israel. Jeremiah 33:17 "For thus saith the Lord; `David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel:" Remember from Genesis 48:18-20, when Jacob [Israel] crossed his arms to place his right hand on the head of Ephraim, the covenant blessing was passed them from Jacob to Ephraim, the son of Joseph, which would carry the name Israel through this earth age of flesh man. So in these end times, Queen Elizabeth II of England is of the direct lineage of King David, tracing all the way back to Judah and his father Jacob. However Jacob also promised Joseph that Manasseh would also be a blessed nation. Genesis 48:19 "And his father refused, and said, "I know it my son, I know it: he also shall be come a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, an his [Ephraim's] seed shall become a multitude of nations." Manasseh today is known as the United States of America. Jeremiah 33:18 "Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before Me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifices continually.' " So if the Levites are not with the house of Judah, coming out of Babylonian captivity, where would they be? Of course they would be with the tribe that Jacob designated to be "Israel" and the house of Israel. Ezra 8:11 told us who was in control of Judah's spiritual leadership, the Kenites, they were the priests going back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple, and they were the scribes keeping the records for the house of Judah, not the house of Israel. The Kenites even told us this at the start of their writing of these books of Chronicles [I Chronicles 2:55]. So if the Levites would continually be making the meat offerings and sacrifices before the Lord, is that going on now. Of course it is, however at the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, the blood sacrifice ordinances under the law ended, and Jesus the Christ became our Passover. There was no need ever again for the blood sacrifices of any animals, for the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ covers all the sins of those that will love and trust Him, and by faith come to Him in repentance "in Jesus name". Hebrews 10:1-10 covers what took place at the cross. Hebrews 10:8 "Above when He said, "Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin Thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein;" which are offered by the law;" Those sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings for sin were the requirement under the blood ordinances of the law, not under grace. Hebrews 10:9 "Then said He, "Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God." He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second." The first that is taken away is the Law and the blood sacrifices for sin under the law. God took away that avenue to Himself the moment Jesus died on the cross. The second that was established is given to us in John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus the Christ], that whosoever believeth in Him [Jesus] should not perish, but have everlasting life." This earth age of flesh men and women in their corruptible bodies is coming to a close very shortly, and then we move into Millennium age with Jesus Christ's kingdom right here on earth. However, even after that thousand year Millennium kingdom, each soul that is in Christ and under the blood of Christ; that soul shall be eternal. Hebrews 10:10 "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." The blood sacrifices that were given before the death of our Lord Jesus Christ was a requirement for sin annually under the law. The moment our Lord died, the vail at the Holy of Holies in the Temple was rent in two and the way to the Father came through the blood of Christ. That is the only way to YHVH our Heavenly Father and all other ways are simply not acceptable to our Lord. I Chronicles 27:21 "Of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: Of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:" I Chronicles 27:22 "Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel." I Chronicles 27:23 "But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said He would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens." I Chronicles 27:24 "Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David." I Chronicles 27:25 "And over the kings treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the store houses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Johonathan the son of Uzziah:" I Chronicles 27:26 "And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:" I Chronicles 27:27 "And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the Increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite." I Chronicles 27:28 "And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:" I Chronicles 27:29 "And over the herds that fed the Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:" I Chronicles 27:30 "Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite:" I Chronicles 27:31 "And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's."
