Exodus Chapter 13 "Ordinance of Phylacteries. [3 - 16]" This
Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's
transcription/ location God is delivering his children just as He stated that He would. No the children of Israel did not have an army, for over them as they would move through the wilderness, there was an awesome army of God's supernatural warriors of angels. God promised that not one of them would be lost, and God's army was there to see that their deliverance was complete. When God is protecting His own, not one of His children would be lost out of all the camp of Israelites. God protects and delivers His own children. Exodus 13:1 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying," Exodus 13:2 "Sanctify unto Me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is Mine." The firstborn of all the Egyptians were taken by God in their death, for God is just. However here God is claiming all the first born of both man and beast of the Israelites to be His also, but here the firstborn will be used in His service. Exodus 13:3 "And Moses said unto the People, "Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage: for thy strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leaven bread be eaten." YHVH the Lord is giving all the children of Israel of all the tribes this order: "Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt," and it is stressed that "for thy strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place." It wasn't Moses and Aaron, but our heavenly Father YHVH, the "I AM THAT I AM", "brought you of of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage." God is able to free His people and He wanted not only His people to know this, but the Egyptians also. Do you know that God is able to keep you, to protect you and bless you in hard times? Sure we must use common sense, but as we live our lives daily, God will see to it that the wickedness of this world will not harm us. Exodus 13:4 "This day came ye out in the month Abib." "Abib" in the Hebrew tongue means "the month of green ears". Remember that God established this to be the first month of the year, starting with the Spring Vernal Equinox. Exodus 13:5 "And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which He sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month." This is a set time of the Lord, and it was established for the purpose that His children would remember the deliverance that He will continue to give each of His children. He marked this day so that It would never be tampered with, by establishing the year, each year, to start on the Spring Vernal Equinox. This is a Solar time, as God's children are children of the light, of the day, and those children of Satan are children of the night or moons. God made a promise to Abraham, and to the day, God kept His promise to bring the children of the promise, of Israel, out of their bondage. God is going to keep His promise to Abraham, and bring his offspring out of Egypt and to the land of milk and honey, back in the land of the Canaanites. However, in these modern time, the minds of men think that they can alter those set times of the Lord, in that they have blended or compromised with the heathen feast of Easter, or Ishtar. How can you blend the Solar and the Lunar calendars? You can't, the Solar is a fixed time, and the Lunar or by moons fluctuates all over the place. The children of the night enjoy their Easter feast day, and have a high old time with their eggs and bunnies, but the children of the day, God's children know the meaning of Passover, and keep it in accordance just as God ordered Moses and Aaron to instruct His people here. The first month begins at a fixed time each year, by the sun reaching the point of the Spring Vernal Equinox, the point where the days and nights are equal. It never changes, and every calendar in existence marks that day well. It is the time that we move from one season in time, the Winter; into the next season in time, the Spring. This didn't just happen by accident, for God created this universe and set these times long before it was established here in Egypt by the Moses. In God's creating this universe the way it was, Genesis 1:3 - 5 "And God said, "Let there be light:" and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." God separated the day from the night, and those of the day are of God, and those of the night are of the devil. Genesis 1:14, 15 "And God said, `Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth:' and it was so." God made these set times for a purpose, and we are now seeing why God made these set times and seasons. The first day of the year was established by God back in Exodus 12:2; "This month [Abib], later called Nisan] shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you." God established the first day of the year and marked the time and season so there could be no mix-up. So how could we go far off in marking this Passover season? Of course it happened when men allowed the heathen feast day of Ishtar to be blended with Passover. Ishtar is of Satan, of the night, and of course the lunar calendar. When you mix the things of God, with the things of Satan, you end up with the things of Satan. God doesn't compromise with Satan, men do. The start of the new year happens in a split second, the moment that the sun moves through four cardinal points of the sky, and each of these points mark the start of a set season. They are the same each year, and never change. This is what the Solar calendar is based upon. The positions corresponded to the Vernal Equinox for Spring; the Autumnal Equinox for the fall season; the Summer Solstice marks the start of summer, and the Winter Solstice for winter. These points are set by the movement of the earth around the sun, the rotation of the earth, and that movement is set by God, and we can count on it being true. God is accurate in this set times and seasons. Do you think for one moment that God would fix the movements of this earth where there was an inaccurate time plan? Of course not. If you serve the prince of the night, Satan, you run your calendar by the moon which is irregular, and all your set times and season would be all mixed up. This is why some years churches have moved their Easter time all the way up to the second month of the next year. When Passover come at any other time that on that set day, the fourteenth day following the Spring Vernal Equinox, you are violating this law that God is giving to His children. The entire plan for Passover is so simple yet man tries to mix it all up by blending himself in with all of Satan's tricks of the night and moons. Why not be accurate and be blessed by God. God set this time by His Solar calendar, and the perfect time for the feast. Exodus 13:6 "Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord." Today there is only one Passover, and our Passover is Christ. I Corinthians 5:6, 7 "Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." Paul is teaching here. Your playing church is the leaven, and it is corrupting the entire body of Christ. Paul is telling the church leaders, "Purge out the old leaven," the old traditions of men. Those traditions are the ones that were set for the time of Moses to the time that Christ would pay the price for our sins. "For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." We do not look to the sacrifice of animals any more for our Passover. Christ became our Passover when He went to the cross and shed His blood. I Corinthians 5:8 "Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." We keep the Passover in our Communion service, with the bread of sincerity and truth. The seven days or crowns of Passover, stand for spiritual completeness, and those seven crowns are melted into One, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings for ever more. The problem is that most Christians don't know the difference between the true Passover, Jesus Christ, and the false tradition Easter with all it's heathen custom. They don't know the first christ from the second Jesus the Christ, for they keep mixing the leaven of heathen wickedness with unleavened bread of truth, and it just doesn't mix. Most of them are locked and loaded with their leaven doctrine to head out with Satan at his arrival. Are you prepared to remain in the field until the coming of the Lord at the seventh trump, or are you going to sit as a queen with Satan over his realm at the sixth trump? Exodus 13:7 "Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven see with thee in all thy quarters." This is a warning to us living today, for we aren't to put up with any foolishness as far as the traditions of men are concerned. Leaven is the symbol for sin, and sin is to go against God's law. If live your life different than God's law, especially when it is related to God holy Sacraments, then you are in trouble with God. Before Christ's death this custom had to be met by all tribes, all the people of Israel. However after the cross, and the resurrection of our Lord, then these customs that were set by God, were done away with, because we are now under the New Covenant, the new testament that was set by Jesus the night before His death. When Jesus took the bread and the cup, He told us that this was the new covenant and that we were to take it until He returned at the seventh trump. God will give the warning over and over about our keeping of the Passover, and He doesn't like it when people violate His law. Don't let sin in your camp, and don't mess around with false teaching. Stay in Father's Word, and become familiar with all of the plan of God. Exodus 13:8 "And thou shalt shew thy son in the day, saying, `This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.' " Tell your children, This is why we keep the Passover and the Communion table. Let it be know that God established that day, and it is a promise of God protection and blessings. If you continue to mix in the heathen custom of Easter eggs, bunnies and all the other rites of fertility, do you really think that you are pleasing the Lord? Of course not, why would you allow Satan to make a fool out of you before the Lord. You become a blasphemy to God and He just doesn't like it. God is telling you here, "You will teach your son actually what happened in that day"; That lesson will be God's ordinance for His people forever. The Passover is the high day of Christianity, and don't allow Satan to mess over your mind on that day. That is the day that God established His covenant between Himself any man. When the rest of your family likes to partake in all the heathen customs on the day of Passover, don't cause a division in the family over this, but gradually bring the truth to them. Let them know why you don't participate in those heathen customs, and let them decide for themselves whether they will be obedient to God. Exodus 13:9 "And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the lord brought thee out of Egypt." So after telling your children what was done on that night of the Passover back in Egypt, let it be know that this was a sign to each of the children of Israel. "A memorial between thine eyes" is an idiom meaning "a memorial that you will place in your mind". It is not something that you stick on the outside of your head, but the meaning is held dear to you in your mind as long as you live. It is passed on from generation to generation to the time of the end. If you put the Word of God inside your brain, then that is what comes out of your mouth. If you know the truth of Passover, that the death angel passed through the land of Egypt and claimed the firstborn of man and beast, that is what you know to be true. If you are aware that God spared the children of Israel to be protected from that Passover, and that His protective hand is there for all generations, right to the end, then that is what you talk about. God is drawing the line here in the Scripture, and it is your choice which side you will stand on: Truth or deception: God's love and protecting hand, or the fairy-tales of man's tradition and false doctrines. You make the choice by your ways, your words, and by the feast that you keep. The feast to us living today is our taking of the Communion which our Lord instructed us to keep. The memorial between your eyes that you will keep, is the seal of God in your forehead, as God warned us about in Revelation 9:4. You keep it, He keeps you, and if that seal is not there, God turns you over to the devil and his angels to have their way with you, and they will. Revelation 9:5 lets you know that they will sting you like a scorpion, living you unable to defend yourself form any of Satan's powers. When a scorpion strikes a man, that man's mind is turned to mush by the venom, and there is no defense. Do you still think that it is good to play church? or do you want to be part of God's church? Exodus 13:10 "Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year," This center of Passover is our Father's love for you. If you go by Solar calendar, you must also go by solar months. Don't try to mix solar and lunar in the same thought. The solar calendar is perfect, and there is no need for adjusting. Year in and year out God is perfect in His commitment to His promises to you. the Equinoxes determine the new years, both the spiritual and the civil. The feast of tabernacles was determined by when the sun rose in the east over the mount of olives, and shown through the east gate; and into the temple and onto the altar of God. That established the time of the feast day, and if the gate was opened and the sun did not shine in such a manner, the gate was shut, and the feast put off until the next day. Remember the day started at sundown of the prior day, so this would mark the exact day. God is telling you here that we are to keep this ordinance, that on the fourteenth day of the first month, that starts at the Spring Vernal Equinox, we are to have the Passover, or Communion as it is in our time. Exodus 13:11 "And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of Canaanites, as He sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee," God promised this land to Abraham, and God will give it to the children of Israel, all the tribes, not just Judah. Exodus 13:12 "That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrex, and every firstling that cometh of the beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord's." God is speaking of animals here, and the Lord took the males to leave the females to produce more for the farmer. But the first of the males born were the Lord's. There is a law set in place in the book of Numbers for redemption that we will get to shortly. God destroyed the first born of the Egyptians, cattle and men, and he demanded the firstborn of the Israelites for His service. God is fair in His dealing with all of mankind. Exodus 13:13 "And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem." In the Hebrew it says, "from the knap of the neck you will break". This is speaking of the price of the redemption of that firstborn child to be redeemed. This allows the families to reclaim their child that belonged to the Lord, and not be under the bondage of serving at the tabernacle the rest of his life, but to be put into the field to help the family in labor for service to the family. God demanded the the ass be redeemed with the lamb, because the lamb was a sacrificial animal, and the ass was unclean and an animal of labor. Numbers 3:46 "And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;" Numbers 3:47 "Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)" Numbers 3:38 "And thou shalt give the money, where with the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons." The ass was useful to till the soul but unfit to be sacrificed to God. This is why when a male ass was born as the firstborn animal; of course it was unfit for sacrifice, so you replaced that ass with a fit lamb that was able to be sacrificed in the asses place. If there was no lamb suitable for sacrifice then you broke the legs of that ass, so it could not be used for labor or sacrifice. Of course this bloodletting of animals came to a close when Jesus Christ died on the cross for one and all times. There are no sin offerings or blood sacrificing to be done after Jesus established the New Covenant or Testament with His believers. Exodus 13:14 "And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, `What is this?' that thou shalt say unto him, `By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:" When your children ask why we keep the Passover, the Communion Table, we are to have an answer for him or her. We are to tell our children that the Lord God, YHVH has brought us out of the Egypt, from the house of bondage. Our bondage today is different than the bondage of Egypt, but our bondage today is to usury and many other forms of bondage that God's Word has instructed us to stay clear of. When we fall into that bondage it is time to turn to the Lord and come out of our bondage. Start somewhere and keep going in that direction, of staying out of borrowing, and try paying off what you owe. You will come out of bondage to Satan's merchandising and money systems. When you are in bondage today it is just as the bondage of the children of Israel were back in Egypt, and just as it was God that led the way for their freedom from their bondage, it is also our Heavenly Father that can provide the way for your getting out of your bondage today. Moses didn't free the people, No, God prepared the way, and gave the instructions to prepare them not only for their freedom, but gave them the recourses to make that journey, and lit the way as they went through the wilderness. God works the same today as He did in Moses day, and He listens to you, just as He talked with Moses. But you have to act upon His orders from His Word. Exodus 13:15 "And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.' " God claimed all the firstborn of man and animals in the land of Egypt, and again this refers to Numbers 3: 46, 47 that we discussed above in verse 13:13. God doesn't play favorites with mankind, and even though it appears that He played favorites with Israel over Egypt, Remember God allowed the children of Israel to remain in bondage in Egypt for over four hundred years, does that sound like favoritism? However, He still claimed the firstborn of Israel, even though they were saved on that night of Passover, but Father is claiming his price for that lives and those firstborn lives of future generation through a sacrifice. Was Pharaoh a mean man? Remember that it was God that hardened Pharaoh's heart. Through the entire ordeal God was preparing His people for their relationship that He would have with them in the future, yet each of these events that we are reading of in this Book of Exodus is an example for things that we shall face in this final generation today. God allowed all this to happen because He loves you, and wanted you free from the bondage and deception that Satan will cover the earth with shortly. This entire book is given to build our faith in God, so that we can trust in His Word, and rely on the love and protection that He will give to us. When we have our spiritual armor on and in place, we are ready to make our stand against the fiery darts of lies and supernatural acts that Satan will bring against us. Exodus 7:5 tells us exactly why God brought all these plague down on Egypt. It wasn't so that the children of Israel would know that He was the living and true God, but is was so that the Egyptians would see that He was God. They were locked into their gods of animals, trees, and all sorts of things, and God wanted to show them that even they could rely on the one True God, the God of the children of Israel. Exodus 13:16 " "And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt." In time people took their prayers and wrote them down and tied them in their hair, but that is not what is written here. That practice was a tradition of men, just like the rapture theory, the Easter bunny and all the other traditions that go against the Word of God. "The "frontlets between your eyes" is your brain; and God is instructing us to read and place in our mind those things that happened down there in Egypt, when by the strength of His hand, God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt. You are to pass this act of God on to your sons and daughter and to future generations to give them strength also. Teach your children to think and look to the Lord for their guidance and protection; and teach them to be honest with themselves and with God. In that day when Satan and his fallen angels come to this earth, you will either have the truth in your mind at that time, or you will not. To know the truth and not be deceived by Satan at his arrival is to be sealed in your forehead; it is to have "the truth in the frontlets between your eyes." In Revelation 9:4 God is giving the angel of the fifth trump, Satan, final instructions; "And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads." The order is that you cannot touch, hurt in any manner, or bother anyone that has the seal of God in their forehead, in their mind [in the frontlets between your eyes]. Revelation 9:5 "And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man." Do you get what this is telling us? If you are not sealed in your mind at the moment that Satan arrives here on earth, God is going to give you over and allow Satan and his fallen angels and children [Kenites] to have their way with you. So how does a scorpion torment a person when he striketh a man? The venom leaves the individual's nervous system paralyzed, and unable to react as the scorpion spews out its digestive system and sucks in the digested meal of the man. Just a flick of the finger would blow the scorpion away, if it were possible, but it is not. The man is unable to react to the sting of the scorpion. That is how the initial impact will be when Satan arrives on earth. If you were not ready for what happens at Satan's arrival, you will have no defense against Satan's flood of lies, and supernatural acts and miracles that God will give him authority to do. However you will be immune to those lies and wonders if you know the truth ahead of time, and expect it to happen when you see it come to pass. God has a mission for you to do during this time because of "the frontlets between your eyes", the truth that is in your mind. You don't have to memorize the Word, but know the season, and what to expect in that season that you are living in. There are seven things that Jesus told you to look for, those are the seven seals, and the seven trumps. Jesus said I will return after all of these seven things have happened, and not before. Exodus 13:17 "And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the People go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, "Lest peradventure the People repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt." Did you get that? There was a short cut back home to the land of the Canaanite, but that would have led them through the land of the Philistines. God did not want them to come in contact with the Philistines. The Lord knew that the Philistines were a war-like people and if the children of Israel came in contact with the Philistines they could not handle the pressures of war. When the enemy came, the children of Israel would run back to the protection of Egypt. God was protecting His children even through the route that Moses would be led to take. God is leading the Israelites down into a trap to the Red Sea, and then into the desert. God is going to test these people well before they get back home. God is doing the leading and Moses, Aaron and the people have total faith in God's direction. God is going to open the Red sea for them, and reveal His love and protective powers to His children. We are living in a great body of water also in these end times, and Revelation 17:15 tells us that this body of water where the great whore sitteth that will cover the earth, are the "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." of the earth. It includes all the people on the earth that are not sealed with the truth the moment that Satan and his fallen angels arrive here on earth. Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Remember that John is writing this, as Jesus is revealing it to him, as they are viewing the happenings; looking back from the day of the Lord, that day when the seventh trumpet has sounded. So to John, this was history, and to you and I today, this is still future, for we are living in the time of the fifth trumpet, and Satan has not arrived as of yet. The angel of the Lord is still holding back the four winds, so that God's elect and those of the ethnos that are to be sealed can be sealed. You had better know what those frontlets in your mind are for, and the truth of those seals and trumps are all about. Exodus 13:18 "But God led the People about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt." "Harnessed" is an Hebrew term meaning that the people walked "five abreast", five people walked side by side in military fashion as they went forward. God told the people how they were to move, and they had discipline in their moving forth out of Egypt. There was a movie on the Ten Commandments some years ago, and obviously the script writers did not do their studies, as they showed the children of Israel as nothing but a mob, as they moved out into the desert. No, the children of Israel moved out in ranks of five, orderly, as God told Moses to lead the people. Five in biblical numerics is the number for "grace", and by the grace of God, God led them step by step on their journey out of Egypt and the land of bondage. If you will study His Word and pray for guidance in your life through His Word, By His grace He will lead you every step of your life today. Lead you right out of your bondage. Learn the truth and that truth from His Word will set you free from your bondage. Don't ever run to a church that would place you back into bondage, rather than free you from the bondage of sin. By doing so you will be heading into the destroyers camp by way of the pulpit. God set your free by your faith and repentance at the cross of Christ, and don't let anyone hang those forgiven sins back around your neck. If you have sinned, whether by divorce or any sin, and come to the cross of Christ, to be washed of those sins under the blood of Christ, they are gone and over, forgiven and you are free from them. So why would you run to anyone that would keep throwing them back into your face. That would be of Satan, not of Christ, Satan wants you to be messed over continually under guilt. Kick the dust off your feet from that church and keep going. Exodus 13:19 "And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you." Joseph knew the promise that God gave to Abraham, and after Israel and his other eleven sons had moved to Egypt, to escape the famine that was in the land of Canaan; Joseph took his brothers aside and made them swore an oath to him. Genesis 50:25, 26 "And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence." "So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years ole: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt." This event of the oath took place about 1635 B.C. , and Joseph knew that after four hundred years that God gave to Abraham, the children of Israel would be coming out of Egypt. In that the coming out of Egypt took place about 1453 B.C. this was about 185 to 200 years after the time of Joseph's oath. Joseph had complete trust in God; and Moses is carrying out Joseph's wishes that his bones would not be left in Egypt. Exodus 13:20 "And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness." "Succoth" means booths, those little booths that they put up temporarily, and they moved out to their camp in Etham, at the edge of the wilderness. "Etham" in the Hebrew text means "bordered by the sea". Moving by foot, the children of Israel have moved three days, from their booths from the Passover, and here they are camped at the shore of the Red sea. Once they are on the other side of the Red sea, they will be completely out of the control of Pharaoh and his army. This slave labor marked that Pharaoh has enjoyed for many years is over and done with, and Pharaoh is starting to think over what he has done. They have given their wealth, gold and silver, and their cattle over to the children of Israel, and now a few days after the mourning of their first born, the Egyptians will have second thoughts of what they have allowed to happen. All in all, it looks like somebody did not do their homework for the journey, but keep in mind God is in charge. When God is doing the leading, there is no mess up. Exodus 13:21 "And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:" Keep in mind we have a community of two to three million people moving through the hot desert, with all their infants and the elderly. God is going to protect them from the heat of the day with a cloud over them, and by the cool of the night by this pillar of fire. Think of how long that would take to move these people five abreast down the path, with all their cattle and sheep. Remember that there were 600,000 men that were heads of their families; not counting their women and children. Notice that with all the dangers of the time, God is giving them light to go by in the day and night. They were moving into a place of entrapment, but God will be with them by day, and night, to protect them from all harm. That same protection is with us to this day, for those that put their trust in Him. Exodus 13:22 "He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the People." God stayed with the people all the time, day and night, with His protective hand over them. Not one of them would be harmed as they moved across Egypt to the Red sea. At this point in time, the people trusted God, and look to Him for their complete safety.
