Ezekiel Chapter 15 "The Vine, Symbolical." This
Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's
transcription/ location This is a parable, or proverb of explaining something that will happen in the end times, and God is going to use nature to get his point across. Ezekiel 15:1 "And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying," Ezekiel 15:2 "Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?" God is making a comparison between the vine tree, and that of a branch of a normal tree. What we are comparing is the ability of the wood to burn. Ezekiel 15:3 "Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?" When you take that vine and nail it to a wall to be used as a hanger, is it going to be any good? No, because it has no stability. That vine is limber, twisted and and it won't burn for fire wood. Ezekiel 15:4 "Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?" In other words, if you cast it into a fire that is going strong, it will be devoured immediately, from both ends and the middle. Puff and it is gone, along with a lot of smoke. Is it good for any work? no. Remember in chapters thirteen and fourteen, the subject was about the false prophets that were around, and they were just good for nothing. In the same manner, if you take the vine that grows the grapes, and if it does not produce, it is also good for nothing. In the New Testament, Christ is the vine, and we are the branches. The fruit of the vine of Christ is the wine, which is the symbol of His blood that was shed for us all. When the vine is used for what it is suppose to be used for and produces, it a wonder of nature. When you take a vine, then and twist it into something that it is not intended for, it is worthless, but when you use it for what it is intended, it is the only true work in the world. The time is coming shortly when another vine that claims to be the true vine comes, however he is an imposter. Men will think that this is the true vine, only they will be deceived. That false vine is the Antichrist, Satan, and I'm sure now you can see the comparison between the two vines. Ezekiel 15:5 "Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?" Behold, before you burned this vine in the middle and burned the ends off, it was not fit for anything. The ashes are not fit for anything, and when it was burning you received no good from it. Ezekiel 15:6 "Therefore thus saith the Lord God; 'As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem." Notice that God is not naming a race or people of Jerusalem, just the inhabitance of Jerusalem. He is saying that those of the false fine that are inhabiting Jerusalem will be like a vine amongst the trees of the forest. They are not much good for anything, not even to burn for heat, for there is no substance to them. This proverb is direct to the end time, and those that will rule from Jerusalem. It is directed at the Antichrist and his religious system that will control the people of the earth. Jerusalem is the seat of the abomination that will take place, when the Antichrist will stand in the holy place in Jerusalem and declare himself to be God. All of the people of the world will believe him, except for God's elect. Jesus told us of this in Matthew 24:15, as He is quoting from Daniel 9:27. Those of God's elect are of the True Vine, which is of Christ, and there is great value to them, however many will attach themselves to this false vine, and we will see how God will get rid of the vines that are of no value to Him. Those that look to the Antichrist will end up as the trimmings left in the field, to be cast into the fire and burned. Burned in the hell fire that God says is coming at the end. Ezekiel 15:7 "And I will set My face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I set My face against them." When God sets His face against you, you had better get on your knees first in repentance, and then into His Word. It is time to wake up and know for sure which vine you are leaning upon. This chapter is telling us what will happen in Jerusalem both to, and from the inhabitance. the inhabitance are not only one people, but they are the Kenites that are the bad figs that returned to Jerusalem from around the world, to set the stage for their father, Satan. They will set this limber vine [system] in motion, that the world will come to lean on, and find themselves falling flat on their faces, at the feet of the Antichrist. Ezekiel 15:8 "And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord God." The important word in this verse is "trespass", and in the Hebrew it means a cover-up. It is a sly, deceitful cover-up. Who is it that is know for his sedulity in all matters? He goes by many names, and we know him as Satan, the Devil, the serpent, the dragon, and in the end times, the Antichrist. The sedulity that will pull into his camp when he returns to rule the world, is called the rapture theory, as discussed in chapter thirteen; the fly away doctrine. They will fall for Satan, because they are ready to bow to the first Christ, and Satan will be that first Christ. When they are ready to bow to him, they will bow to him, and throw their works of righteousness at Satan's feet in ignorance. Then they will be one of these worthless vines, that is of no use to Christ.
