ONE PERSON DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE
By Gay Brown
THERE ONCE WAS A PHILISTINE
A GIANT OF A MAN
A CHAMPION OF THE ARMY
HE STOOD 6 CUBITS AND A SPAN
A HELMET MADE OF BRASS
HE WORE UPON HIS HEAD
HIS COAT WAS ALSO MADE OF BRASS
WHEREVER HE WENT WAS DREAD
HE HAD GREAVES OF BRASS
UPON HIS LEGS
HIS SHOULDERS BORE THE SAME
HE SHOOK THE GROUND WHEN HE WALKED
ALL FEARED GOLIATH'S NAME
HE STOOD AND CRIED WITH SPEAR IN HAND
ALL ISRAEL SHOOK WITH FRIGHT
HE TAUNTED AND HE TEASED THEM
TO SEND OUT A MAN TO FIGHT
NO MAN WAS FOUND, SAUL SEARCED ALL DAY
BUT LATE THAT AFTERNOON
A BOY STEPPED UP TO SAY,
"IVE' COME TO FIGHT YOUR BATTLE SAUL,
'NOW GET OUT OF MY WAY'.
FOR FORTY DAYS AND FORTY NIGHTS
HE DREW NEAR THE PHILISTINE
AND ALL THE MEN OF ISRAEL FLED
THEY WERE NOWHERE TO BE SEEN
AND DAVID SAID TO OLD KING SAUL,
'LET NOT YOUR HEART BE WEAK'
AS HE HASTENED TO THE BATTLE SIGHT
HE TOOK FIVE STONES FROM A CREEK
GOLIATH LAUGHED, THEN GOT ANNOYED
TO SEE SUCH A YOUNG LAD
'WHAT AM I, JUST SOME OLD DOG'?
'IS THIS THE BEST YOU HAVE?
THEN DAVID TOOK AND SLUNG A STONE
BETWEEN THE GIANT'S EYES
AND SMOTE THAT MAN THAT VERY DAY
MUCH TO EVERYONE'S SURPRISE
THEN DAVID PLACED HIS HAND ON HIS SWORD
AND SLOWLY DREW IT OUT
AND CUT THE HEAD OF GOLIATH OFF
YOU COULD HEAR ALL ISRAEL SHOUT!
NOW YOU CAN DO WHAT DAVID DID
DON'T THINK YOU'RE ALL ALONE
GOD WILL LEAD YOU IN HIS PATH
NO MATTER WHERE YOU MAY ROAM
