Isaiah Chapter 11 "The Divine Son of David, New Dispensation, Moral, Political." This Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's transcription/ location is provided by http://www.theseason.org In the prior four chapters of Isaiah, God has shown us a type whereby we could understand what it would be like at the coming of this false messiah, our enemy. He has shown us that we don't have to be afraid at his coming, because we have a standard, and that standard is Christ. Now in the eleventh chapter; in that Isaiah has identified in Isaiah 10:24 why we don't have to be afraid; He is now going to tell us in detail why there should be no fear in us. We are going to be told of the Branch, who is the Anointed One, and of what genealogy this Branch will come from. He is also telling us what this Branch, the Messiah, would be equipped with when He arrives here. When we understand this, we have the full reason why we need not be afraid. This chapter will take us all the way through the Millennium and past it into the eternity, as to how events shall occur that will bring to the end these ages, and bring into the eternity. Isaiah 11:1 "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:" It is interesting that the prime Hebrew word for branch is "Nazer", and Nazareth was the very place that Jesus grew up, and made his identity with. Though there is no connection with the two words in our tongue, it is just another hidden way for us to know that what happen was just no accident. This Branch came out of the seed of Jesse, and that seed was David whom the prophet Samuel anointed. Then it was through David's genealogy that we read of in Luke 3:23-38 that we can trace Jesus lineage all the way back to David. Luke 3:31 "Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David," Luke 3:32 "Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson," and so on through Judah, Jacob, Isaac and Abraham. This is the lineage of the virgin Mary that the Branch came through, that would be the One that would be the Anointed One. Isaiah 11:2 "And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord;" These are the seven spirits that were with our Lord when he walked the earth. This word fear in the Hebrew text is # 3374 in Strong's Hebrew dictionary, "Yir'ah, yir-aw', reverence, (also used as infinity)." The word "Infinity" means "for all times". It is by all times and for all times that the spirit of God shall be upon Him. This is the reverence of the Lord from the flesh man. When you have the "spirit of reverence" for the Lord in you, it is your faith that He will take care of you and keeps you from being afraid. These are the seven spirits that the Word of God will equip you with as you live in this life, with the problems that you will face. The spirit of the Lord is the Holy Spirit that gives us peace, and the "spirit of wisdom" is what we call using good common sense, it is being skillful in applying the Word of God. The "spirit of understanding" is your ability to discern the spirits as you come in contact with them. To tell what type of spirit is with in the people that you meet. This verse is telling us that there is one coming that will walk upon the earth, and He will be of the lineage of David, so there can be no doubt who He is when He arrives. This Person will have the breath of God in him, and posses all these characteristics or spirits. When He arrives there will be no doubt that He is the Branch, for each of these spirits will be working through Him. Though you cannot see the "spirit of counsel", you can see the results of His counsel when it is given in the Spirit. That Anointed one, who has come is Jesus Christ who came and possessed every one of these spirits, and we can receive His counsel and wisdom from His Word. Isaiah 11:3 "And shall make Him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears:" Here we see the word "fear" again, and know from the Strong's Hebrew Dictionary that it is "the reverence" for our Heavenly Father. Jesus did not judge any person by looking at their outward appearance or by looking into their eyes, because He could read the intent of their heart. He looked into their motives and thoughts and thus Jesus did not have to go by what some witness or false witness had to say against you, or on your behalf. In every case our Lord understood up those that would come against him, for He knew their motives for what they did. In most cases He turned their accusation against the one accusing and put out that spiritual fire before it got started. He is no difference today then He was then, for Jesus can look right into your mind and know your problems before you can even see them for yourself. He knows what is best for you, and when you put your trust in Him, His Spirit will lead you and give counsel into the path that is best for you. Therefore when the Lord judges you, He judges you from the absolute fact and intent of your heart. These seven spirits are from our Father and each of them guided Jesus in what in His walk on earth. When we come before God in judgemnt at the close of life in the flesh, there will be no doubt or mis-understanding of the intent of your actions, for every thought of your mind is revealed to the Heavenly Father. Isaiah 11:4 "But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked." In fairness shall God judge those that are humble before Him. The "rod of His mouth" is Christ's tongue, which is the two edged sword spoken of in Revelation 1:16. Revelation 1:16 "And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth sent a sharp twoedged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength." That sword is the truth that comes forth from Jesus' mouth. The same one that spoke and nothing became everything, that same person can speak and make those things become nothing. The word "slay" means that He is going to destroy it. With the very breath of His words, Jesus is going to destroy all wickedness. Anything wicked will be done away with at His second coming. Isaiah 11:5 "And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His reins." These are two things that we can always count on from our Lord. Righteousness means that He is always right and fair in all matters, and "Faithfulness" is that you can always count on Him to do what He has promised. To be "girded" about, is to be girded with the truth of His Word, all seven spirits of God, and being armed with them. This means being armed with our Father's Word in the simplicity in which it reads, by following it chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Isaiah 11:6 "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them." This verse gets into the slaying of the wicked from this earth age. The little child is one of the most helpful people in the world, wanting to always help in their most simple ways. There is no defense for their motives whatsoever, for their motives are pure. Here we see this little child with the wolf, the leopard, and the young lion and the small child will be perfectly safe amongst them. This is because God has destroyed the wickedness. Isaiah 11:7 "And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox." You don't find cows and bears feeding together, nor do you see lions eating straw like the ox. Isaiah 11:8 "And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den." This is saying that even the sucking child can play around with snakes and serpents and not be harmed. There is a time when all this shall take place. Isaiah 11:9 "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." Friend, this is the Millennium age, and there shall be an overflowing of truth at this time. It is obvious that these conditions have not come to pass yet, for each of these animals stll act in the ways of their nature today. The asp would strike the child, the cows and bears don't eat together, and the lions simply doesn't eat straw. A lamb is wolf meat and there is no way that the two would lie down together without the wolf eating lamb chops. Did you note that in each case of the comparison it was between a domestic animal that God created for Adam to tend to, and the other was a creature from the wild. The purpose of each domestic animal was to provide a service to man, to provide wool for cloths and meat, to give milk, to plow the field and so on. The other animals were of the six day creation that God put in the wild for man to hunt, to kill and to manage. Then we have the child that would touch the actual serpent itself, just like the two innocent ones in the Garden of Eden that touched the serpent and we know what happened to them. It shows us that at this time the lawless one is destroyed and all wickedness is gone with him. There are very few teachers that go to this depth with these verses, but we are trying to seek out the deeper truths from the manuscripts. Remember from I Corinthians 15: 50-54 Paul says that he does not want us ignorant concerning God's time, that in the wink of an eye, all will be changed from these flesh bodies to our new incorruptable b spoke in parables when he taught. Matthew 13:10 "And the disciples came, and said unto Him, "Why speakest Thou unto them in parables?" Matthew 13:11 "He answered and said unto them, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." Matthew 13:12 "For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and shall have in abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath." Matthew 13:13 "Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand." Jesus is saying that it is not meant that certain people do not understand at this time in their flesh bodies. That in itself is a mark of Love for our Heavenly Father, for their innocence is their cloak of protection when the bow to Antichrist in this earth age. God knows that they simply do not have the strength to stand against the false messiah when he comes, and what they do in innocence will be revealed in the Millennium age when all souls will have full understanding. Then however their salvation will not be by faith, which we have in this age of the flesh, when we believe and take that which we see not as truth and act upon it because God said it, but by works which the do with full understanding of God's Word, with that Word living and visable right here on earth. Then when Satan is released for a short season at the end of the thousand year period, they will be tested again, and judged on their works in the Millennium age. Matthew 13:14 "And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, 'By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:" Matthew 13:15 "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they souls see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." So we see that it is God Himself that will send a spirit of slumber on those people that even when hearing the Word, just don't understand it, and prefer to chase after all the religious nuts, rather then studying the Word for their understanding. Paul writes of this in Romans 11:7-10: Romans 11:7 "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded" Romans 11:8 "(According as it is written, "God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear";) unto this day." Romans 11:9 "And David saith, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompence unto them:" Romans 11:10 "Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway." That spirit of slumber will be removed from the eyes of all Israel and Gentile alike in the Millennim age, and they will then be able to go to Him for knowledge, counsel and wisdom. When you have these things you become aware of who the creator is, and will not fall when the time of testing comes. God's will is that He will lose not one of His souls, and that is why He has made this provision for then. A second chance? Never, for what is taught today in most church houses allows people to remain in their stupor of slumber and innocence. It is God's will that all will come to repentance when they have the full understand of His Word, however it is each soul's right to chose God or Satan, and many will turn from God. Isaiah 11:11 "And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious." Isaiah 11:12 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea." Isaiah 11:13 "The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim." "Ephraim" represents the ten tribes that is made up of the House of Israel, that turned their back on God's ways for idolatry. Those ten tribes are not part of the house of Judah and were a separate nation with their own kings. They were scattered by the Assyrians over a hundred years prior to the House of Judah's fall to Babylon, and Hosea addresses how they will be identified in the latter days. We discussed these people know as Caucasioans in prior chapters. What Isaiah is talking about here is what Ezekiel talkied about in Ezekiel 37:15-23; Ezekiel 37:22 "And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided itno two kingdoms any more at all:" The two nations, the House of Israel [the Christain nations and peoples of today], and the House of Judah [The tribes of Judah and Benjamin, and those of the Kenites that were converted], will be joined into one nation in the Millennium age, and not before. So what brings the two nations back together? This is given in the fourth verse; "Again he said unto me, "Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, 'O ye dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord." Preach to them that they may hear and understand the Word of the Lord. Speak with your tongue, and give the message of the Word of God that will lead them to Jesus Christ, who is our ensign. Pour the gospel of Christ out on those poor spiritually dead bones, and bring life back into them. They have no knowledge of the counsel and wisdom from God, even thought they may have much knowledge of the ways of the world. So when Ezekiel begin to preach the gospel of god, life came back into them bones, and flesh came on those bones. The systems that show life is there in all the system of the flesh body started to function, and those bones became a living being. They have seen the truth in God's living plan and how they fit into that plan. Israel and Judah become one again in the Millennium age, and the ensign that they stand behind is Jesus Christ. There will be no more conflict between these two peoples for they shall be one. Isaiah 11:14 "But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them." This is saying that rather then the two houses fight against each other, in the Millennium age, they will be fighting the enemy. This is in the spiritual battle, and what it is saying is that in the Millennium age, many souls of the Gentile nations will be won for Jesus Christ. Isaiah 11:15 "And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with His mighty wind shall He shake His hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod." God is going to eliminate the borders between Israel and the outside. The Egyptian sea is the Gulf of Suez, and the other river is the Euphrates river, where most of the world conflict of today comes. The Euphrates river has always be the boundry between Babylon and God's people, the Israelites. Babylon is "confusion" and this means there will be no boundry there any more. There will be no more conflict for this is the Millennium age, when the lion will lie down with the cow, and the child will play with the snakes. During this age the things that caused the confusion of this age will be gone, and all people will understand what God's intentions are, and abide by them. Isaiah 11:16 "And there shall be an highway for the remnant of His People, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt." There will be a remnant that will make it thourgh Assyria, or Satan's conquest. God will have complete control over everything that happens, even over the physical elements of this earth. Remember when the Israelites came out of Egypt and God parted the sea for them? the children of Israel walked through the Sea on dry ground. Then after they were safely on the other side, that same sea that parted devoured the Pharaoh's army and eliminated their enemy. The time of the coming of the Antichrist is very near for us today, and God is promising here that on that day when Satan the Anitichrist is upon the earth, He will make a highway, not just a little path, for His People. His remnant will pass through that sea of Satan's world rule, to the other side, which is our entering that Millennium age victorously. Friend, we will go through it on dry ground when we keep focused on Jesus Christ, and know that we have to be tried by the false christ first. Is there a rapture coming? No way, for God has given us all the sign posts that we need to find the direction on that Highway he has prepared for us. You don't have to fear our Father, reverence Him and thank Him that He has given us the wonderful Word of His counsel. When you understand and follow His Word, you will not have to suffer as other people do, for God will send His blessings on you.
