Joshua 13:1 "Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, "Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed."

Joshua is getting very old, and God is waking him up to the fact that the work is not over yet, there are many heathen nations to still conquer and destroy before the inheritance of the land can be distributed.

Joshua 13:2 "This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,"

Joshua 13:3 "Form Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines: the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gettites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:"

Joshua 13:4 "From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:"

Joshua 13:5 "And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath."

Hamath was the nation that God warned would rise up against Israel. they as were the other nations around her, Baal worshippers, worshippers of confusion and the traditions of men. Amos 6:14 "But, "behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness." Hemath was that land of the Kenites, the sons of Satan through Cain. Their father is Rachab the king of these Kenites. In the Hebrew text "wilderness" is "ha'arabah" or "Arabah" from which we Get the nation Arabia. It means darkness, neither night nor day, to the sundown of the last day. It is talking about the end of this dispensation of flesh man, ending with the seventh trump.

Joshua 13:6 "All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-maim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee."

Joshua 13:7 "Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,"

Remember that Two of the tribes had their inheritance east of the Jordan river, Gas and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, but the rest of the tribes had not their land yet. Of course Levi will not get an inheritance or portion of land, for they are the priests, and divided amongst all the tribes.

Joshua 13:8 "With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the Lord Gave them;"

Joshua 13:9 "From Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dibon;"

Joshua 13:10 "And all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the children of Ammon;"

Joshua 13:11 "And Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah;"

Joshua 13:12 "All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out."

Joshua 13:13 "Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor the Maachathites:but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day."

Joshua 13:14 "Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as He said unto them."

Joshua 13:15 "And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families."

Joshua 13:16 "And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;"

Joshua 13:17 "Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,"

Joshua 13:18 "And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,"

Joshua 13:19 "And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,"

Joshua 13:20 "And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth."

Joshua 13:21 "And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Rebea, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country."

Joshua 13:22 "Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the chidren of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them."

Joshua 13:23 "And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after thier families, the cities and the villages thereof."

Joshua 13:24 "And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families."

Joshua 13:25 "And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the dhildren of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;"

Joshua 13:26 "And from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;"

Joshua 13:27 "And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward."

Joshua 13:28 "This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages."

Joshua 13:29 "And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh:and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families."

Joshua 13:30 "And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:"

Joshua 13:31 "And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, evn to the one half of the children of Machir by their families."

Joshua 13:32 "These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward."

Joshua 13:33 "But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, as He said unto them."

Before the land could be completely distributed as an inheritance to all the tribes that land had to be cleared from these offspring of the Nephilim that were mixed in amongst all these heathen nations. We discussed who these giants [long necked] people were that were the offspring of the Nephilim back in Joshua 11:3. They weren't human beings as we consider the genetic make up of our physical bodies, but a mixture of the fallen angels, and they married and bred with the daughters of mortal men. This was why God destroyed all the people of Noah's flood, and it is the same reason why God wanted all these people to be destroyed.

As we read in Joshua chapter 5 on, when the children of Israel went against any of these nations, God's order was to slay the people from the youngest child to the old fighting men, and that included all the children. Why? To protect the bloodline of the children of Israel from being polluted by these offspring of the Nephilim. These Nephilim were fallen angels that violated God's order for the angelic souls not to enter into the dimension of flesh man. These evil angels left their heavenly habitation and came to earth to support their leader Satan, and destroy the very plan of God that would bring His Son, Jesus Christ into the world to be born of Woman, the Virgin Mary, life the perfect life and be offered the perfect sacrifice on the Cross of Christ. Our salvation can only come by one way. This way that God laid out through His Son Jesus Christ must be by faith, and repentance in Jesus name.

So these nations that Joshua and the children of Israel are destroying, are being destroyed just as the people of the flood were destroyed. Not that Father YHVH is a bad God, but because of Satan and his fallen angels and their plotting against the children of God. Flesh man is born in innocence in this age of flesh man, and these Nephilim and their kids were destroying that innocence. It came time for God to clean house and get rid of the filth that the fallen angels had build up over the prior five or six hundred year. This is not talking about the races of mankind, for God created each of the races equally, each to enter into this earth age by the birthing process, and each with the same right to repent and come under the blood of Christ for their salvation. That salvation was not offered to the Nephilim.

God looked on each of the races that He created, that was not mixed with these Nephilim and saw that each race was good. So this is talking about the intermixing of hybrids within the fallen angels, which produced these Anakim long necks, that were giants. Without the cleansing of these mixture peoples, the Messiah could not have come into this world age, because there would not have been that perfect womb of woman left for the Christ child to be born into.

If you looked on this great slaughter of all these nations as being cruel and wicked, then you just don't understand the plan of God. It isn't cruel, but God will still work with their souls when He calls their souls home to be with Him; God will be fair to all souls, and those born by these Nephilim had to be eliminate for the sake of His perfect plan for all of God's children.
