Leviticus 7:1 "Likewise this is the Law of the trespass offering: it is most holy."

These laws governing the offerings are a set of special instruction for the priests to follow. Remember that there are three holy offerings and four most holy, and this trespass offering is on of the most holy.

Leviticus 7:2 "In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar."

It is the people that bring their offerings to the Lord are the ones that must kill their animal to be sacrificed to God. The priest would not sprinkle the blood on the altar, but sprinkled it to the sides of the altar.

Leviticus 7:3 "And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof; the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards,"

To "offer" as used here is "karab" in the Hebrew text, and it means to bring the offering near to the altar, as was also stated in Leviticus 3:3, 4, 8. 9.

Leviticus 7:4 "And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and caul that is above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

Again, the flank is the loin, and the caul is the covering of fat over the kidneys.

Leviticus 7:5 "And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the Lord: it is a trespass offering."

Leviticus 7:6 "Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the holy place: it is most holy."

This trespass offering is the same as it is for the sin offering, every male must take part in the eating of the offering in the holy place.

Leviticus 7:7 "As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it."

The "atonement" as stated here is the Hebrew word "kaphar". It is just like the mercy seat that covers over the ark of the covenant. The English word atonement, has no connection whatsoever with the Hebrew word, Kaphar.

Leviticus 7:8 "And the priest that offereth any man's burnt offering, even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered."

The burnt offering is the OIah offering, and was to be burnt completely. However the hide of that sacrificed animal was the property of the priest that made the sacrifice. This was the way it was with the sin and trespass offering also, that the priest that officiated the offering kept the hide or skin of that animal as a payment for his work.

However in the peace offering, the skin went back to the one that owned the animal and brought it to be sacrificed.

Leviticus 7:9 "And all the meat offering that is baken in the oven, and all that is dressed in the fryingpan, and in the pan, shall be the priest's that offereth it."

Leviticus 7:10 "And every meat offering, mingled with oil, and dry, shall all the sons of Aaron have, one as much as another.

On this offering there was enough meal left over that it could be split up and shared amongst all the priests.

Leviticus 7:11 "And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he shall offer unto the Lord."

Leviticus 7:12 "If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried."

In this thanksgiving offering, there is three different types of offering that could be made. It was a peace offering looking for special mercy from God.

Leviticus 7:13 "Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offerings."

The prior peace sacrifices that are burnt on the altar were of leaven or honey, and had a fermenting quality about them. But here in the sacrificial meal it was okay to have leavened bread.

Leviticus 7:14 "And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave offering unto the Lord, and it shall be the priest's that sprinkleth the blood of the peace offerings."

In verse twelve there were three different types of cakes or breads for this peace offering, and here the offerer took one of the cakes to offer for this heave offering. This "Heave offering", is called "Trumah" in Hebrew, because it was taken and lifted on high in presentation to Jehovah for Himself alone. It became the sole portion for the Lord, and it was to be offered by the priest that sprinkled the blood of the sacrifice on the altar for the peace offering; however in this case there was no blood, so he was the one that offered these cakes to the Lord.

Leviticus 7:15 "And the flesh of the sacrifice of this peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it until the morning."

In the case for special peace offerings for special mercies for the one offering it, the priest was not allowed to eat of the offering after the day that it was offered. All the offering had to be consumed that same day, or burned on the altar of fire.

Leviticus 7:16 "But if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow, or a voluntary offering, it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice: and on the morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten:"

Now we are looking at the vow or free will offerings to the Lord, and the offering in this sacrifice can be eaten that day it is offered and the leftovers can be eaten in the next day also.

Leviticus 7:17 "But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt."

This cannot be stretched into the third day, but the amount of left over sacrifice must be burned on that third day after the vow peace offering was made. This offering is burnt alright but it is like the Chattath in the sin offering.

Leviticus 7:18 "And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity."

If any of the offering was eaten on the third day, God will not accept that peace offering. By the phrase, "being accepted" means that it is not pleasing to God, and the abomination of the offering will be on both the priest that ate the offering on the third day, and to the person that brought the offering and gave it to God. By being "imputed unto him" means that it is the same as if he never made the offering in the first place. The offerer can consider that the priest brought this disgust and abomination down on him because of the negligence of the priest.

Leviticus 7:19 "And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt with fire: and as for the flesh, all that be clean shall eat thereof."

The "flesh of the peace offering" shall not touch any unclean thing, and if it has, it cannot be eaten. If it has, then it has to be burnt.

Leviticus 7:20 "But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the Lord, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people."

Keep in mind that there were no means to keep the meat from these offerings for later times. The meat after a period of three days would spoil. This is what caused the sacrifices to be considered clean or unclean, when considering time periods. Though the carcass of an animal that is dead is considered unclean, but the meat of that same sacrificial animal will not be unclean until three days later.

Leviticus 7:21 "Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which pertain unto the Lord, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.' "

The point to remember here is that the sacrifices to the Lord are considered holy. If someone was in an unclean state and touched the sacrifice that was holy, he would make that entire sacrifice unclean. The point here also is not if your unclean, but when you are, take the steps to become clean before you partake in the sacrifice offering.

Leviticus 7:22 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,"

We are about to take Leviticus 3:17 a little deeper.

Leviticus 7:23 "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, `Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat."

This now is speaking unto all the children of Israel and give instructions for their manner of eating. The point again is to stay away from eating any fat of any animal, for that is considered the Lords. Consider it part of the health laws also, for the children of Israel, and it is for a purpose. This is directed to the people of Israel, yet some of the requirements are just for the priests alone.

Leviticus 7:24 "And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it."

If an animal has died on it's own then that fat is also forbidden to eat. Also the fat of any animal that has been torn by another animal can not be eaten also. If you are hunting and you come across an dead animal that some other animal has feasted off of, that animal is forbidden to eat. Common sense should warn you that it just isn't right for health sake. You can use parts of the animal for other use, to use the hide, or fat for candles, or what ever, but not for eating.

Leviticus 7:25 "For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people."

This is quit obvious from the prior verse, for if you are careless as to what you eat in animals that have dies or torn by other animals, the disease you get can kill you, and cause you to be cut off from your people. When you die your soul goes immediately to be with the Father.

Leviticus 7:26 "Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings."

Remember that blood was the medium of atonement, and the blood of the animal was more holy than the sacrifice itself. The life of any animal is in the blood, and when the blood departs from any animal, so does it's life. The blood is the item that is used for the sanctification of the offering.

Leviticus 7:27 "Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.' "

Again this is getting into the health laws, for by eating the blood of an animal, could cause that person to lose his life.

Leviticus 7:28 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,"

We are now moving back into the peace offerings.

Leviticus 7:29 " "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, `He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto the Lord shall bring his oblation unto the Lord of the sacrifice of his peace offerings."

This verse is now directed to all the children of Israel. The sacrificial meals are foods grown by man, in from the soil of the earth. However by being Sanctified then is the true symbol of the spiritual food, which is God's Word that we have today.

Leviticus 7:30 "His own hands shall bring the offerings of the Lord made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the Lord."

The hands of the offerer, the one bringing the offering; he shall bring his offering made by fire, with is the fat with the breast of the animal, and wave it before the Lord. So here we are getting into another type of offering, the "wave offering", which in the Hebrew text is the "Tenuphah", which means to wave sideways, and not up and down like the heave offering. The idea of the wave offering was that the offerer brought the offering in his own hands. The priest then placed his hands under that offering, as it was waved towards the holy of holies, then back in their direction. This in turn was symbolic of giving that offering to YHVH or Father, and then taking it back for the priest.

Leviticus 7:31 "And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron's and his sons' ."

The breast of that animal was one of the most savory portions of the animal, and it belonged to the priest that took part at the altar.

Leviticus 7:32 "And the right shoulder shall ye give unto the priest for an heave offering of the sacrifices of your peace offerings."

So we see that in this same peace offering, there is the wave offering of the breast with the fat waved sidewise from the holy of holies, to the priest, and the heave offering using the shoulder heaved or lifted on high towards God, in this sacrifice. When the sacrifices are over, the shoulder also is given over to the priest that took part in the sacrifice offerings. This right shoulder is not from the front of the animal, but from the rear portion of the animal, between the knee and the hip on the right side. It was considered one of the choice cuts of the animal.

Leviticus 7:33 "He among the sons of Aaron, that offereth the blood of the peace offerings, and the fat, shall have the right shoulder for his part."

It is the priest that offered the blood of the peace offering on the four sides of the altar, that gets this right shoulder cut.

Leviticus 7:34 "For the wave breast and the heave shoulder have I taken of the children of Israel from off the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them unto Aaron the priest and unto his sons by a statute for ever from among the children of Israel."

God is telling us that He made the wave breast and the heave shoulder of the animal sacrificed, the prime portion of the animal, to be the priests for the duties that he has rendered for the sacrifice. Where it states "for ever" mean, as long as the priesthood last. We know that at the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, He became the one and only sacrifice for all times.

Leviticus 7:35 "This is the portion of the anointing of Aaron, and of the anointing of his sons, out of the offerings of the Lord made by fire, in the day when he presented them to minister unto the Lord in the priest's office;"

This statute became effective the moment that they were called, and anointed into the priesthood.

Leviticus 7:36 "Which the Lord commanded to be given them of the children of Israel, in the day that He anointed them, by a statute for ever throughout their generations.

Again, this statute was to be offered as long as there was the need for animal sacrifice. But at the death of our Lord, the need for these animal sacrifices came to a close. For the blood of Christ was sufficient for on and all times.

Hebrews 10:7 "Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me) to do Thy will, O God."

From cover to cover of the Word of God, God reflects the coming of the promised Messiah, Jesus the Christ. What ever you need to know about our Lord Jesus Christ, it is there in His holy Word. God has revealed through His Word exactly what He expects of you and I, and if you are ignorant of that Word, how in the world do you think you can please Him. Psalms 40:8 - 11 reflects this. Everything that Jesus said in answering other started by; "It is written..."; "Haven't you read..." and so on. Every detail of Christ and His birth to His death was recorded in the Word of God.

Hebrews 10:8 "Above when He said, "Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering of sin Thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein;" which are offered by the law."

Paul was quoting from Psalm 40:6-8 here, "I don't want your animals and your sacrifices, but I want your love."

Hebrews 10:9 "Then said He, "Lo I come to do Thy will, O God." He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second."

God took away the first [the blood sacrifices and ordinances of the law] when His Son Jesus Christ went to the cross. With the death of Christ on the cross the establishment of the second was completed. he took those blood sacrifices and ordinances away because of the blood of Christ paid the price for one and all times. God did not take away the law, but the blood sacrifice and those things that were required under those ordinances. No blood sacrifice can send the Holy Spirit anywhere because they are dead and gone. But at Christ death, the Holy Spirit did come and it warms the hearts of everyone that He touches.

Hebrews 10:10 "Buy the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."

The blood of animals did not make anyone perfect, but the blood of Christ, through our faith and repentance of our sins in His name, will make us perfect in the eyes of our heavenly Father. Why? Because when we are under the blood of Christ our sins are blotted out, and we take on the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are sanctified by the One that was sacrificed on the cross.

Leviticus 7:37 "This is the law of the burnt offerings, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings;"

Leviticus 7:38 "Which the Lord commanded Moses in mount Sinai.' "

Hebrews 10:11 "And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifice, which can never take away sins:"

No these sacrifices that we are studying here in Leviticus were but a temporary annual covering for the sins, but those sins were still on the books in heaven. However when our Lord died on the cross He went back to those souls in holding in the prison of their souls and preached to them, and many then accepted and became sons of God.

Hebrews 10:12 "But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God."

Yes this shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ allowed us to come to the Father through the Son, and when Jesus ascended into heaven on that fortieth day, he sat down at the right hand of the Father. He is there as your and my mediator every day of our life, if you ask for His help.

So we have read of the coming of our Lord, but during the time of Moses and the children of Israel camped here at the foot of Mount Sinai, this is the way that God designated for them to approach God. How ever the law that He gave the people are still in force for His people, even though the blood sacrifice that we are reading about have been taken away, and fulfilled in the blood of Jesus Christ for one and all times.
