THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO Chapter 21"Event. The Poor Widow. [1 - 4]" This
Bible Study is written by Roger Christopherson, and it's
transcription/ location In Luke chapter twenty Jesus was in the temple teaching, and the religious leaders came to Him and questioned His authority, and the authority and power of Almighty God. They tried to trap Him with questions about the life after death by using the law of Moses to define the right of marriage. They tried to trap Jesus into making statements against Caesar's right to tax, but Jesus gave them an answer that silenced them. Then Jesus took His disciples aside and warned them; "Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour widows houses, and for a shew, make long prayers: The same shall receive greater damnation." [20:46,47] The point Jesus was stating is that our reverence should be to God, and not some man. There is no man that is perfect except God, and all things come from our Heavenly Father. There is no man that is worthy to share God's glory and praise, and only He can bring blessings your way. As He was instructing His disciples on these matters about the scribes and religious leaders, He looked up, and saw these rich men casting their tithes into the Temple treasury. This is where this twenty first chapter picks up, as a continuation of the prior chapter. However, in this chapter Jesus will also get into the prophetic events that we will witness in our generation. Those things that are revealed here are from the voice of God, and each event is part of the plan of God set forth from the beginning. Luke 21:1 "And He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury." "And He looked up" shows us that the Lord was still in the Temple, showing that this prophetic discourse is not the same as that spoken later on the mount of Olives. Though the events talked about in Luke are the same as in Matthew 24, and Mark 13, Jesus will start their minds thinking on the subject, and those prophetic events will be discussed completely later, after leaving the temple. So after this lesson on giving alms giving, they will leave the temple for the mount of Olives, and the teaching that follows. These scribes and the other self-righteous leaders are giving their praise to these rich people as they are casting their money into the offering plate. Luke 21:2 "And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites." The mite is the "lepton", a copper coin, valued at 3/8 of a farthing, or 3/16 of a cent. It was enough to buy one loaf of bread; but the two mites were all that she had. Luke 21:3 "And He said, "Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:" Jesus valued the offering of this poor widow more than all the rich people combined. These rich people were giving their tenth, their tithe that was required. This poor widow gave everything. Luke 21:4 "For all these have of their abundance cast in into the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had." This widow gave from the heart, but Christ is not telling you to give everything, but He is setting an example to the disciples on stewardship. It is not a big deal how much you give when you have an over abundance of wealth. Your not giving from the heart but out of requirement. It isn't the rich that keep the Christian ministries moving ahead, but those widows and poor that are dedicated in their heart to have a part in spreading the gospel. Luke 21:5 "And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, He said," Luke 21:6 " "As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." While Jesus and His disciples are inside the temple, they are looking at the great beauty of the stones and architecture of the temple. Inside the temple there were many gifts that were on display around the temple. The point make here is that in Matthew 24 and Mark 13, Jesus and the disciples are outside the temple and on the mount of Olives. So why is it important to know the difference between these three books? We can read in Matthew 24 and Mark 13and get a head on profile of the events of the end times, but here in the temple the same events will be spoken of, but in a different manner, a side view of the events. We see in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 Jesus spoke to the disciples after they left the temple, while out on the mount of Olives. These events are given so you and I have a little more in detail of these events of the end times: So we will be referring back to the other gospels to get a clearer picture. Matthew 24:1 "And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and His disciples came to Him for to shew Him the buildings of the temple." Matthew 24:2 "And Jesus said unto them, "See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." Matthew 24:3 "And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the Word?" We see Jesus opened the door to the subject back in the temple, and the details of the events are given afterwards, out of town; up on the mount of Olives. Notice that they wanted to know what the events or signs would be just before Jesus returned at the second advent. The disciples knew that His coming would mark the end of this earth age of flesh man. Today, everybody wants to know what the signs are to let us know that the end of this world age is coming to a close. So this is what is going to be revealed in this chapter. We will be going back and forth between Matthew 24, and Mark 13. These signs are events that are going on right now in the news in our generation. Jesus will remind us later in this chapter, that when you see the generation of the fig tree, that is it. This world age is coming to a close. There will be not more flesh and blood bodies, but every one entering into Christ's kingdom here on earth will be in their incorruptible bodies as the Angels have. Jesus told us that in Luke 20:33-36, when He was answering the question of certain of the Sadducees about the resurrection. The parable of the fig tree is given in Jeremiah 24, that time when both the good and bad figs return to Jerusalem: That is the last generation. Of course the good figs are brother Judah, while the bad figs are the Kenites that have mixed in and taken over. This happened way back in May of 1948, and the full control of Jerusalem was fulfilled at the close of the War of 1967. We are well along into the final generation of this world age of flesh man.
So as we study this chapter, there will be seven things that shall take place, and those will be the signs and events for us to watch out for in our lifetime. They will be things that we read in the papers, and see on our television sets. Each of these seven signs are the seven seals that Jesus gave us through the pen of John in Revelation chapters 8, and 9. These are also the seven trumpets that are given in the book of Revelation and we are to learn these thing so we cannot be deceived. Though the seven seals are not given in order, the seven trumpets are sounded in order. So by the time we end this chapter, we will know what the seven seals and the seven trumpets signify. Why is this so important to us today? Because we are living in the generation that shall see Satan and his fallen angels coming to earth at the sixth trump, and God doesn't want His children to be deceive by Satan's supernatural powers, deceptions, and his lying tongue. There will be a flood of lies that shall cover the entire earth, and most Christians will be take in by them. Why? Their traditions and false doctrines will lead them right to Satan. We will see the events that will consummate the end of this earth age of man living in the flesh. Now Jesus is going to tell us When it will be, How will it happen, Where will His coming be, and Jesus expects each of us to pay attention. Luke 21:7 "And they asked Him, saying, "Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?" The disciples are asking Jesus this question while they were standing in the Temple. Remember that Jesus had just told them that this beautiful temple they were in was going to be laid flat, and the stones crushed. Again, they had time to think on these matters while walking out of the temple, down through the valley and up on the mount of Olives. They wanted to know the events that would bring it all to an end. Luke 21:8 "And He said, "Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name saying, `I am Christ;' and the time draweth near": go ye not therefore after them." This is one of the pit falls we have today, for many come claiming to have that answer, but what do they preach? false doctrine and the traditions of men. It is time to get into the Word, and Jesus is warning you and I here; "Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name". Those false ministries will look so good, sing all the beautiful songs, call themselves by names common to Christians, and claim themselves to be called and preachers of God. They will say, "I am Christ's teacher", but by their own words they show themselves to be are false teachers. Jesus is telling you not to go near them. If they are teaching you things that go against God's Word, they are not of Christ, but of the devil. Are they teaching you all of the Word, and preparing you for the time we are living in, or teaching you to grow in your spiritual life to be a big spiritual baby. The milk of the Word is necessary in becoming a Christian, but you don't grow up to prepare yourself to stand against Satan by staying on a spiritual milk diet. It takes a chapter by chapter study of all the Word, to prepare you with the meat of the Word for our end times. If anyone tells you to leave out any of the Scriptures, run from that man, for Jesus came to fulfill all the Word, and not change one letter of the law. You will be here to see Satan and his fallen angels come to this earth just as Jesus told us in Revelation 12:7-9. If you hear someone tell you that you won't don't give him ear to his dogma. Jesus is warning us living today to be aware of these people. Some of our people knew that there was more to God's Word than what was taught in our churches. Jesus gave us these seven signs leading to His second advent, and this goes against some of the doctrines of men today. So as you study the rest of this chapter, ask yourself, should I take the words of Christ, or some man made doctrine? This is why Jesus warned us, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Any preacher that says he comes in the name of Christ, if his message goes against what is stated in this chapter, he is a liar and deceiver, and not the Christian that he claims to be. Today many churches teach a rapture doctrine, that God is going to fly Christians out of this earth before Satan comes to deceive the entire earth. The book of Revelation allows us to see clearly that Satan will come first, and that we are to wake up and pay attention to these events, so we will not be so ignorant as to chase after Satan upon his arrival to Jerusalem. Satan is coming first, and the things that he says and does will be much like what people expect Christ to be like at His coming. If you believe that you are not going to see Satan, but that you will fly out, you will be deceived. Luke 21:9 "But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by." When wars and unrest are going on around the world, don't get anxious, for Jesus is telling us that those things will happen before His coming. As long as there is a war in Afghanistan, or any place in the world, and there is unrest in the middle east, Africa, Northern Ireland and so on, the end is not immediately. In other words, if all you hear is peace, peace, and all efforts are bound up in peace talks and agreement, the watch out. All we hear today is the struggle to bring the difference sides to the peace table, and that is all that has been happening since the New World Order came to power. When we look at those different small wars, they are all fought over religion. In the middle east, between Judaism and Islam; in Northern Ireland, Catholics and Protestants; in Afghanistan, Islam and Christians; In India, Hinduism and Islam; and on it goes. Solve the religious problem and you set the world at peace. So how can that come to pass? With the coming of a one world religious order; the world political system would end and a religious order taking its place. Luke 21:10 "Then said He unto them, "Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:" These problems and wars will continue until the something or someone comes to bring that world peace. Luke 21:11 "And great earthquakes shall be in divers placers, and famines, and pestilence; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven." We have had volcano eruptions all over the world; earthquakes in places around the world in places that haven't had them before; and in the past three years there have been eclipses of the sun, moon and earth at six month intervals. these intervals have occurred on the day of Passover, to the time of the trumpets, and back to the day of Passover, for six straight times. This is a first time ever: I call that a sign. All over the world there are sicknesses and diseases that are claiming deadly and spreading, as well as many other events that are unusual. As we are going through this chapter, Jesus is calling to our attention Revelation 6, and 7. What is the famine for in the end times? Amos tells us in Amos 8:11 Amos 8:11 "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of our Lord:" The famine is for the lack of the God's Word being taught around the world. Amos 8:12 "And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the world of the Lord, and shall not find it." What do you hear today but some preacher teaching on the traditions of men, and jumping all over the Bible to cause nothing but confusion over the times we life in. In the end, the people don't know what to believe. They call themselves Christians, yet they know very little of what Christ taught, nor do they care. There is no order to their teaching. "Take heed that no man deceive you." "For many shall come in My name saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." So stop and think for a moment. If somebody tells you that you don't need to know the book of Revelation, what does that tell you about that person. We are living in the final generation, and that person wants you ignorant of the times you are living in. Take heed of that person, especially if he says; I am Christ's. God gave them to you for the sake of getting you prepared for the day when Satan arrives here on the earth. It will happen. Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Jesus is telling us of this time before us, from the day of the Lord, looking back to this event of Satan's coming. Satan is the dragon of the world age that was, and he was the serpent from the Garden of Eden, and the Devil of this earth age. When Satan comes he will deceive the people living on the earth, all of them but those with "the seal of God sealed in their mind [foreheads]". Those people tell you that the book of Revelation isn't important, are ignorant of the times that they are living in. Revelation 9:4 "And it was commanded them [Satan and his fallen angels] that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads." Friend, you brain is in your forehead, and "the seal of God" is the truths from the Word of God, from the book of Revelation and all the prophets of the Old Testament that warned us of the things we would face in these end times. Men like Amos, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, David and all the rest of them that set out to warn you and I. The only thing that will keep you from bowing a knee to Satan is your knowledge and wisdom that you have stored in your mind before the coming of Satan. God will give Satan the power and authority to deceive the rest of the people that are not sealed. Do you see why it become the utmost importance for us to know these seven signs with all the other details of our time? The spiritual conflict is well under way, and only the Gospel armor of the Lord [Ephesians 6:10-20] will protect you. That spiritual armor is used to stand against the fiery darts of Satan, those lies that he will flood the earth with. Luke 21:12 "But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake." Before this happen, They will drag you into their church houses and before their church boards and committees because you went against their traditions and false doctrines and shed the light of truth on their ways. Remember back in the last Chapter when Jesus pointed out their errors in their temple, those religious leaders sought to kill Jesus. Do you think that the religious leaders of today are any different. They will brand you as a nut, make up charges against you falsely, and accuse you of things that you said, which is a lie from their lips. You will be delivered up for our Lord Jesus Christ's name's sake, for teaching the truth from God's Word. It will happen just as those Kenites dug up their false witnesses to charge our Lord with at His trial. Luke 21:13 "And it shall turn to you for a testimony." Revelation 6:9 "And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:" This is the fifth seal, this is going to happen and be one of the signs and seals that we will face. It is going on now. We are suppose to have this in our forehead now, and expect to be attacked by the population when you speak out against things like abortion [murder of the unborn], and Sodomy, which God condemn to the point of complete destruction to Sodom and those that practiced this way of life. Sure these are strong points now, but when Satan arrives and you attack him and his beast system it will be considered treason. This is why we are to allow the Holy Spirit to do our thinking then, and be open to allow him to speak through us. Why? We are not smart enough to match the supernatural power of Satan, but the Holy Spirit is. You are suppose to be putting that knowledge in your mind now, so that when that time comes, something is up there that the Holy Spirit can use. This is how one commits the unpardonable sin, for that is a sure way to not allow the Holy Spirit to work through you, when you by your choice refuse to study His Word properly to know the plan of God. Mark 13:11 "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought before-hand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy [Ghost] Spirit." It is unforgivable for one that has the knowledge of the time that we live in, and refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to use it. Luke 21:14 "Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:" Again, as we just read in Mark 13:11; prepare yourself now, and then be available for that time when the Holy Spirit can and will use you. Settle it in your mind and be ready. Luke 21:15 "For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist." The Holy Spirit will give us a mouth and the wisdom to use that mouth. When our Heavenly Father speaks through you by His Spirit, the truth will come out of your mouth and go around the world, as people are tried for refusing to bow to this false Christ. Lets go back to Luke 12:9 Luke 12:9, 10 But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God." [9] "And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost [Spirit] it shall not be forgiven." [10] If a person speaks against Christ as He walked in the flesh here on earth, it shall be forgiven at repentance in Jesus' name. "Blasphemeth", # 987 in Strong's Greek dictionary: "vilify, de-fame, or speak evil of". But when one is being delivered up before the synagogue of Satan, and while that person is speaking the Words of the Holy Spirit, if you or anybody vilifies, speaks evil of or defames that person, there is no forgiveness; especially when you know the truth from God's Word. This also applies to the person that knows the truth and still refuses to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them. The penalty for this is spiritual death of your soul. Luke 12:11, 12 "And when they bring you unto the synagogues [of Satan], and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:" [11] "For the Holy Spirit [Ghost] shall teach you in that same hour what ye ought to say." [12] Again, the hour spoken of here is the hour of temptation. That time when Satan and his fallen angels are here on earth deceiving all the people. The thing that you ought to say in your answer, is your testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ. The most important purpose of this time of the fig tree, is to allow God's election to speak the words of the Holy Spirit through them to a world that has completely turned itself over to Satan during this hour of temptation. The world will hear the truth, even after they have been deceived by Satan, in his role as the Antichrist. This hour of temptation is approaching fast, and it will be a five month period, as is declared in Revelation 9:5, 10. When these words come to your ears from the Holy Spirit, it will be only you to decide whether you will believe and follow them, or reject the words. Luke 21:16 "And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death." We know from Revelation 11:8-11 that there will be two witnesses that will be put to death, but we know also that God will protect His own at that time, and as we shall see in verse eighteen that not one hair on your head shall perish. We are told in Hebrews 2:14 that Satan is "death". Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil:" That is why our Lord came to this earth in a flesh body, and that was to suffer death at the hands of the Kenites, so He could destroy Satan. So when you are delivered before Satan as the false Christ, you are delivered up before death. Don't worry about this, and don't premeditate as to what you will do or say at that time. So why will a relative or friend deliver their loved one up to Satan? They will do anything for this one that is supernatural that they will be worshipping. The people will believe in their heart that Satan is the true Christ. They have been taught that in their church houses, and their pastors will lead them right into Satan's camp. You take some poor biblically ignorant father that believes in the rapture doctrine taught down at the church. When his pastor tells him that this is Jesus standing in Jerusalem; that father won't hesitate for one moment to ask Satan for mercy on that loved one. He will do it in ignorance and compassion for his family and friend. When Jesus arrives on this earth, he will appear exactly as the Christian world expects Jesus to appear, he will say all the right words, and do many supernatural acts and tricks. Stop and look at what's going on around us today, at all the lies and deception that people accept without thinking. If you believe in the eternity, you had better bet your soul on that fact. Jesus paid the supreme price so that you could achieve it, yet people think so little of their soul that they would let some con man take it from them. Jesus is talking to you here and now, and He is warning you to wake up, and get into His Word before it is to late. Your loved ones will deliver you up for religious reason, and in the name of religion. Luke 21:17 "And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake." Count on the fact that all men and women that do not have the seal of God in their mind, will hate and be disgusted with you. They will not be able to see the truth, and no matter what you say, when their life is sold out to their traditions and false doctrines, they would sell their own mothers in the name of religion. Remember that as Satan stands there in Jerusalem, telling them that he is Christ, doing the lying wonders that he will be doing, they will hate you when you go against their christ. We see this now in the world, for when one religion comes against another, people are willing to die for their religious cause. This is why we put on the gospel armor of Christ, so that we can stand against the fiery darts of Satan in that day. Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might." In the power of your might? Of course not, in the power and might of the Holy Spirit, standing ready to be used as He sees fit. Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Bank on it, Satan is coming against you with everything that he has. However, with the full gospel armor on and in place in your mind you will be well protected. You are to care what God thinks, and what men think just doesn't matter when you have the victory. Luke 21:18 "But there shall not an hair of your head perish." They can't touch you. Above we quoted from Revelation 9:4, and in that verse God orders Satan and his fallen angels to leave you alone. God gave Satan the authority to do what he is going to do in that hour of temptation, when He had Michael and his angels kick Satan and his angels out of heaven. God created Satan to be the most beautiful of all His creation, and because of that beauty, one third of all God's children went and followed Satan in that first earth age. God gave strict orders also to Satan to touch not those with the seal of God in their foreheads. Remember that this is one of the seven seal or things that will take place in the time of the end. Your brain is in your "in your forehead", and God expects you to use it in your preparation to stand against Satan. When you know that Satan is a liar, how can he be a temptation to you; He can't tempt you for you see him for what he is. God expects to use you to let that truth that you have placed in your mind spread out over the world where you are. Whether you know it or not, this is an exciting time to live for we have the opportunity to watch the entire plan of God unfold right before our eyes, and be a part of it. Even the prophets wanted to live at in this generation, and you are living it. Luke 21:19 "In your patience possess ye your souls." Are you going to grab the first one that comes along, or are you going to have the patience to wait to the end. That's right, the very end. Paul warned us of one the most important things to happen at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in the mystery he revealed in I Corinthians 15:50. I Corinthians 15:50 "Now this is say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. "The kingdom of God" is our Lord Jesus Christ and his domain. His domain is this earth at the sounding of the seventh trump. Paul is telling us by the Spirit of God that these flesh and blood bodies which are corruption cannot in inherit of enter into that kingdom of God when Jesus arrives here on earth. There will be a change taking place. I Corinthians 15:51 "Behold, I shew you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed," A mystery is something not yet revealed, but Paul is going to reveal that mystery to us. "Sleep" as used here in the Greek text is # 2837, "Koimao, to be deceased, be dead." This mystery is talking about a time when those that are alive in their flesh corruption bodies, will be changed. Why, Because our lord has arrived and set up His kingdom right here on earth. Every soul living in their flesh and blood body must be changed. I Corinthians 15:52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." When that last trumpet, the seventh trumpet sounds our Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth. Then instantly your flesh body will be changed from its flesh or corruptible state, into the new incorruptible body that shall live for the next thousand years without aging. All souls living in flesh bodies shall be changed at this time we all enter into that new age of Christ's kingdom right here on earth. So why do I mention this fact here, because we must have the patience to wait on the coming of the true Christ, and one of the signs is that you will not be in your flesh body to see His coming. If some supernatural person comes and says that he is God, and you are still in your flesh body that is aging, that man is a fake. If there are age differences between grandma and the children, and children are being born, that man is a fake. If the things dealing with these flesh bodies are still on this earth, the food store down on the corner, the doctor seeing patients, and kids going to school, Satan is trying to put one over on you. Do you get the point? At Jesus coming, you will not see it in your flesh and blood body, and your spiritual body will have the sense to bow a knee to him, yes even the Kenites. Friend, be patient and wait for the true Christ. This chapter is Jesus Christ speaking to you, living in our generation and He is telling you to be patient and pay attention to these signs going on all around us. These signs are going to happen exactly as it is written. Luke 21:20 "And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh." This verse is speaking of the "abomination of desolation" spoken of by Daniel the prophet. Matthew 24:15 "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Jesus was quoting from Daniel 9:27.
Daniel 9:27 "And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.' " This is the closing part of the gap theory of the seventy weeks of years, from the going back to rebuild the streets of Jerusalem to each of the coming advents of our lord. There was seven weeks of years missing, causing that gap. So Jesus is using that portion of the gap theory in His warning to us at this time of the end. The abomination by the desolator [Satan] is when He stands in Jerusalem calling himself God and the people of the world believe him. Luke 21:21 "Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto." We know that the false Christ will come touch down in Jerusalem, the capital city of the land of Judaea. Mount Zion is the holy mount that our Lord will be coming down to also, but Satan will arrive first. Mount Zion is in Jerusalem, and that is where the temple is also. Jesus is telling us that at his coming, there will not be one stone left standing on that mount. We know today that many Jews go daily to those stones of the wailing wall that are still standing from the time Jesus was in that same temple. Luke was in that temple as he listen to what we are reading here in the book of Luke. God is going to wipe out that entire city at His coming, and that is why He is saying, at My coming, you had better get out of Judaea and Jerusalem. Time will be short and that city will be completely wiped out, turned to dust and made ready for the new temple of Ezekiel 40 through 48. Luke 21:22 "For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled." Here again Jesus is referring back to Daniel's gap prophecy, of Daniel 9:26, 27. Jesus spoke also of this day back in Luke 4:17-19, as He was quoting from the book of Isaiah. Luke 4:17 "And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written," The minister of the synagogue gave the book of Isaiah to Jesus and Jesus took the book and opened it to this passage and read. Luke 4:18, 19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captive, and recover the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," [18] "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [19] This is the mission of our Lord at this first advent. He came to preach the gospel of repentance and heal up those hearts and minds that are troubled. He came to free those that would come to Him all bound up in Satan's evil world. Jesus opened the eyes of the blind both physically and spiritually so we could see the truth. Jesus came to free up all those dear souls that are bruised and all messed up in drugs, and the wicked things of this world. Then notice that this last sentence of verse 19 is not where Isaiah end his prophecy, but this does end the time of salvation, and healing for these flesh bodies of Isaiah's prophecy. Luke 4:20 "And He closed the book, and He gave it against to the minister, and sat down." The part missing from that prophecy deals with the days of vengeance of our Lord at His return. Isaiah 61:1, 2 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me; because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;" [1] "To proclaim the acceptable year of the lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn." [2] Luke 4:19 ended with a period because that is all that our Lord was to accomplish at His first coming. Then in the middle of verse two, starts the mission of the second advent or coming of our Lord. The day of vengeance is what will take place at the sounding of the last trump, the final trump when all flesh is changed into their incorruptible bodies as the angels have. Isaiah 61:3 "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, and oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified." The mourning is going on in Zion because ot the wickedness that is going on there. That is where Satan will set up his government and rule from Zion, from Jerusalem. On this is the day of God's vengeance this day of Christ's return these trees of righteous-ness, God's election will continue to be blessed and prosper right through this time of the end. Jesus stopped his reading in Luke 4 at that point in time, to stress that their are two advents of His coming. This is all part of that warning to us to: Take heed of those that would come in Christ's name and try to deceive us. As detailed as Jesus was in His teaching, don't you think that if there would be a fly-away before His coming like many teach, that Jesus would have mentioned it somewhere.? He didn't, but her sure warned us to watch out for the false Christ that would come before His second advent. Read Ezekiel 13:18-22 and see how God warns us that He against those doctrines that teach His People's souls to fly. Today these false teachers tell their people that they don't need to understand those parts in the Bible that deal with the end times, because you will not be there. What a lie, we are living in those days, and most of the events of the end times are going on right now. The only thing that is important is that we listen to our Lord Jesus Christ, and His warnings and follow them. Luke 21:23 "But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people." The bearing of children in this age of flesh is a blessing to their parents. No childbirth is not a woe but a blessing, so we must keep focused on what is being taught in this chapter. The subject is Christ's return, and those events that are going to happen just prior to that return. Remember when Jesus returns to this earth, He is coming as a bridegroom to claim his bride. Spiritual speaking, Jesus Christ's bride is His church, those of the elect that were sealed in their minds with the truth, and were waiting patiently for their husband's return. So in this same spiritual light, if Christ returns and His bride has been unfaithful, it means that she has been taken by another husband, and that husband is Satan. God is putting this in a physical application to help us understand exactly how He feels about coming and finding His bride unfaithful. One way a wife shows that she is unfaithful when the husband is gone for a long time, is to be pregnant at his arrival. Our Lord Jesus Christ expects to find His virgin bride at His return, and Jesus is letting us know exactly how He will feel, and treat you as an unfaithful bride, if you are deceived by Satan. Jesus is going to be just as jealous, and upset by you, as you would be over your bride to be. What kind of person will He find in you at His return? No, God is not going to pull you out of the field during the one time that He wants you to be used by His Spirit. God doesn't want you chasing after false teaching to becoming seduced by those that say they come in the name of the Lord, but they are ignorant of the most basic instructions for our times. Jesus talked about this in a parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25. To be the first taken out of the field in the end times, means that you have become one of Satan's whores, and the teaching is just opposite of the truth that shall happen. Five of those virgins ran out of oil in the last minute to keep their lanterns lit, but five filled their lanterns, or minds with enough oil or truth to see them through to the very end. Luke 21:24 "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." The nations and peoples of the Gentiles will have their way in Jerusalem during this entire earth age of flesh man, until the day that Jesus comes at the seventh trump. Then at that time Christ will return with a rod of iron to whip the peoples of this earth into shape. Revelation 19:13, 14 "And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God." [13] "And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [14] This is the second coming of Christ, for Jesus is not coming into Jerusalem riding on a ass this time, but on a great white horse, leading the armies of Heaven. those saints in heaven will have their fine linen and be ready to do battle also. Revelation 19:15 "And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." Revelation 19:16 "And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." When Jesus' feet set down on the mount of Olives, the earth will shake and this time of the Gentiles and nations of the earth will be over and finished. Jesus is the Word of God, and the Words He speaks come true at His command. This is why we must stay in the Word and not be sidetracked by any man's traditions. This is why we must keep focused on Jerusalem and the nations that are being active in those lands of the middle east. The nations will be in the exact position that they are suppose to be in as a sign to us, until the day of Christ's return Luke 21:25 "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars: and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring:" Here the Gentiles are translated "nations". Lets stop and look at the two words "Perplexity" and "Roaring". "Perplexity" as used here is # 640 in Strong's Greek dictionary: "aporia; the same as 639; a state of quandary, confusion, be at a loss mentally, appears to be no way out." Look at the confusion that is common in our everyday lives today, with all the confusion, threats where many people can see no way out. Lifetime plans and savings gone in an instant, and rumors floating around the world. "The sea of waves roaring"; lets look at the word "roaring". # 2278 in the Strong's Greek dictionary: "Echeo; reverbrate a loud noise, from 2279; a confused noise, (echo), uncertain, a rumor." So these signs talked about in this verse deal with the signs of the sun, the moon and the stars. On Passover day three years ago there was a eclipse of the moon at the same time Passover day started. then six months later the same event occurred again on the feast of the trumpets, then six months later the same thing happened again, then six months later Jerusalem itself was darkened and was completely eclipsed the fourth time by the moon. Are you looking for signs in the heaven, those that draw attention to significant days of these end times? Luke 21:26 "Men's hears failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." There is one time that there will be a great shaking both in heaven and on the earth. Revelation 12:7 "There was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels," Revelation 12:8 "And prevailed not, neither was there place found any more in heaven." Revelation 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." This is not a spiritual thing, but in fact, Satan and his angels will be cast onto this earth at the sixth trump. Those Satanic powers that are in heaven, before the throne of God accusing God's children will be kicked out of heaven, and we will see them face to face in person. Satan know that he has but five months, and he will try to deceive all the people on the face of the earth. He will take over all the world with his flood of lies, but not those with the truth sealed away in their minds. This is both the sixth seal and the sixth trumpet, and when it happens, Revelation 9 tells you what will be happening at this time. All the sixes align to announce one thing, the Antichrist is here. Are you ready for these untimely figs to fall to the earth? Luke 21:27 "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." "And then", "After that" "we shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." This is as simple as you can get. We will see the Son of man, our Lord Jesus Christ coming to earth with His army of saints after we have seen that shaking of Satan and his army of angels being kicked out on to the earth at the sixth trump. All the other events that Jesus spoke of; the signs and seals all precede the coming of Christ. Today there is a false teaching that the church will be gone before these events come to pass; but do you see the danger of these false teachings like the rapture doctrine. Those false doctrines are part of those rumors of the end times that give people false hope, and take away the armor that they should be putting on. These false teachers are nothing more that servants of the devil, preparing you for not Christ, but Satan's coming. Remember what Jesus said, "Take heed that you be not deceived for many shall come in My name, and deceive many." Are you going to be one of those many deceived? Then Jesus warned you: "Go ye not therefore after them." You've been warned! Don't follow them, but wait with patience on the Lord. Luke 21:28 "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Jesus is telling you that when you see these things begin to pass; when you see the Jews and the armies gathering in Jerusalem, look up. When you see the world system going from a political order to a religious order, look up. When you see all the signs that are happening on the news programs that are part of the signs of these times, know that your redemption is very close. Its time to become sealed with the truth, for when Satan arrives, if you are not sealed, God will give you over to Him. My friend, your redemption or deliverance will not draw nigh until this time. Our deliverance is when our Redeemer is coming and on the way. That is the time of the seventh trumpet, and seventh seal. When Satan comes there is no redemption, but chains of sin that drag you to the pits of hell. Luke 21:29 "And He spake to them a parable; "Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:" This is a parable where by people are represented as trees. Ezekiel 31:18 draws our attention that the trees are pointing to the trees of the Garden of Eden, where the tree of life is Jesus Christ; and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which is Satan in his role as the serpent. So because Jesus mentions the "fig tree", do you understand the parable of the fig tree? Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:32 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:" It is very important that you understand this parable of the fig tree, and to draw attention to this fig tree, Christ walked up to one fig tree and cursed it, and caused it to die instantly. Why, He wanted to show us that Jeremiah 24 was fact. There are good figs and there are bad figs, The good figs are very good and the bad figs are very bad. The subject in Jeremiah is Jerusalem, and who will inhabit it in that last days of this earth age. We are living in those days when both the good and bad figs are in Jerusalem; for Jesus went on to say: Matthew 24:34, 35 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away." You don't plant a fig tree with a seed, but you plant it with a shoot. You set it out. Luke 21:30 "When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand." This is talking about that time when the house of Judah the good figs would move back into Jerusalem, and right along with them would come those bad figs, Satan's children, the Kenites. They would establish a nation there in the old Palestine, and this is what happened in May 7, of 1948 under the Balfour agreement of the United Nations. Most of the conflict today is the fact that the Arab nations will not recognize the Jews right to exist, and posses Jerusalem, and there are people dying in the streets of Jerusalem over that fact. This is a sign of the final generation. The good and bad figs are there now, with Satan on His way to take charge in Jerusalem. Expect it, and Jesus said that we are the generation that shall see all the signs of the end times, before our generation comes to an end. We are fifty years into the end time generation. Most of the events of the end times are history to us living today. Those prophesies happened exactly as they were written. In "summer time" the harvest takes place, and the destination of the crop depends on what that fruit is. The point is that the good grain is separated from the tares, and the good grains are stored, and the bad tares are burned. If you think that you can play Satan's comes, and be his harlot, you will be separated at the time of our Lord's coming. Luke 21:31 "So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is night at hand." We know that the end time is very near. Luke 21:32 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled." Above we stated this same statement from Matthew 24:34, and this is a second witness to that fact. The wise in the end times understand the season, but not the day, hour or moment, for nobody know that except the Father. The season started many years ago, so don't pay attention to the specific times, but to the events that are named in this chapter. Our generation will not pass until all these events are fulfilled; and you can count on that. Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away." This is another witness to Matthew 24:25. You just don't waste time studying the Word of God, because it will never change. This is the only written word that remains true through all the ages. Luke 21:34 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares." We are told to be very careful concerning ourselves, that the cares of our life don't distract us from these events that are going on around us. It is easy to let sickness, and financial problems take over our thoughts all the time, and fall away from His Word. Don't fall asleep spiritually at this time in your life. In the term: "overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness" is a medical term used for the nausea that comes after drunkenness, from where we get the Latin word "crapula" also meaning a hang-over. Paul addressed this in Romans 11, when he talked about the stupor that would come over the people. Though they are away, their eyes and mind is fixed and they can't see the truth if it was right before them. Romans 11:7, 8 "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, "God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should to see, and ears that they should not hear"; unto this day." The truth could be right in front of them with their preacher spelling it out, but they just cannot understand it. God can seal the truth away from someone for their own good, for it they knew the truth, and then bowed to Satan there would be no forgiveness for them. A sin done in ignorance is not accountable to the charge of the soul. Our Heavenly Father is full of mercy. Luke 21:35 "For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth." The "snare" is a trap. Romans 11:9 "And David saith, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway." If you were expecting a trap right in front of you, you would make sure you would not step into it, but if you did not know that snare and trap was there, you would walk right into it with eyes wide open. This coming of Satan and the deceptions that come over the earth will be very unexpected. When you hears rumors, and things happening that are drawing you to Satan, that he is here, why would you put yourself into that temptation. Those that don't know the truth of these end times will actually think that Satan is Jesus and will run to him. They will be proud to say that they are Satan's whore, though they will not word it that way. And the things that they do and say for Satan, they will be thinking all the time that they are doing it for Christ. Through their own traditions, they will set their own traps and fall right into the pit they prepared. They just did not study enough to know the difference between Jesus and Satan, yet they call themselves Christians. The trials and temptations are coming, and Jesus told you in the eighth verse; "Take heed that no man deceive you by any means." They will be coming and telling you that Christ sent them. In their minds Satan is Christ. The Holy Spirit will open your eyes as to which are from God, and those that are from Satan. Luke 21:36 "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." We are to ask for wisdom to our Heavenly Father's Word, and His guidance daily so we don't fall into those traps and snares of these end times. So lets go into the Greek text to get a better view of what this verse is saying. Why do you stand before the Son of man? You stand there for judgment. Pray that you will have the wisdom to stand against Satan, so by your words and actions you will stand there undefiled and condemned by our Lord. Pray that you will be the one to hear Him say, Well done My good and faithful servant, enter into the gates of heaven. Many will stand before Christ in shame, and Jesus will say to them, "Get away from me, I know you not." The subject for this entire hour of temptation is being deceived. Do you consider it a blessing when you are not deceived, or does it make any difference to you? the purpose of this chapter is to keep you from being deceived by those that come in Christ's name peddling their false doctrines and traditions that go against God's Word. So if Satan says that he is Christ, and your pastor and denomination tell you that the man in Jerusalem is Christ, and Satan does and says the things you expect Christ to do, will you follow your pastor and bow to that fake? That is the test and trial for this time. Can you be tempted when your family, your church, your friends tell you Satan is Christ, and to top it all off, when you see supernatural acts happening right before your eyes? Jesus is telling you to expect it. II Thessalonians 2:1, 2 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand." Paul is telling you to not be taken in by any means, and they will use every trick in the book to get you to join them. II Thessalonians 2:3 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there be a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition," Did you get that? Before Jesus comes, there will be a massive falling away , and Satan, who is the man of sin, also called the son of perdition, will actually sit in the his temple in Jerusalem, and the entire world will believe it. II Thessalonians 2:4 "Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the Temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." It is Satan who opposeth and exalteth himself above our Heavenly Father. Satan will demand that you worship him, and he will sit in his temple in Jerusalem and do and say the things to try and make you believe it. He will try to appear as you think Jesus ought to appear. I hope that in that day when Satan arrives, instead of being tempted in worshipping him, that you would find him the abomination that he is. That is why you will have your gospel armor on and in place to make a stand and be ready for those spiritual battles. Some people are so biblically illiterate that they will try to tell you that this 36th verse is all about the rapture theory. But it doesn't say that, but the Greek is very specific, "That you stand before Christ at the judgment." You stand before Christ, after these things have come to pass. Then you will be judged by what you did while Satan was in the temple pretending to be God. Did you go to Satan and bow to him, or did you stand your ground? Be prepared to speak up when their lies and deceit are spoken to you. So now stop and think for a moment, why do you put your gospel armor on in the first place? You put on the gospel armor for the sole purpose of making a stand and defending yourself from those fiery darts of Satan's lies. Take the time an study Ephesians 6:10-20. Jesus is telling you to ask Father, pray for the wisdom so that you can be accountable on that day of Jesus' return. Luke 21:37 "And in the day time He was teaching in the temple; and at night He went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives." Luke 21:38 "And all the people came early in the morning to Him in the temple, for to hear Him." The book of Mark tells us that Jesus went to Bethany, which is on the west slope of the mount of Olives. He was on the side that directly faced Jerusalem, and the east gate.
