Wisdom brings forth understanding, but it will do you no good unless you practice it in your daily life. So we continue with this set of rules [Proverbs] that we can use to set the standards for our life.

Proverbs 5:1 "My son, attend unto my wisdom, And bow thine ear to my understanding:"

"Understanding", as used here is #8394 in the Strong's Hebrew dictionary; "tabuwn" also "tebuwnah, teb-oo-naw', implying an argument, discretion." better translated; "Discernment". After you receive my wisdom then pay attention to what is said and use "discernment" in applying it to your life. Search out those truth of God's Word for yourself.

Proverbs 5:2 "That thou mayest regard discretion, And that thy lips may keep knowledge."

"Regard discretion" is to guard deep counsels and knowledge as a guard over your lips at all times. It is through discretion that we gain discernment to know the words we should say and the things we ought to do. We learn what is good and what is evil; what we should do, and those things that we should stay away from. Remember that wisdom always comes before knowledge and is required for the knowledge to be understood. Discretion is nothing more than using common sense while following God's Word.

Proverbs 5:3 "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:"

There are two Hebrew words used for "strange", and "stranger". The first, "Strange" is the Hebrew word "zur", "an apostate Israelite man or woman [one of our own people] gone over to the idolatrous impurities of an heathen religion." The other Hebrew word for "Stranger" is "naker", and "she is a foreign woman [or man], not of Israel with a similar character to the "zur". The zur is someone [man or woman] that is a Christian, that knows God's Word, but in time starts listening to strange doctrine and traditions of men, and heathen religious forms that will lead her to worship Satan, the false messiah.

So this verse is addressing not the foreigner in our midst, but the woman [man] that is of Israel, that claims to be a Christian, and knows the truths to God's Word. Yet in time she [he] goes against those truths, and then tries to smooth talk others into following after her [him]. Look out for those that would lead you astray, they are apostates. Use discernment in checking out their words, to see if they align with God's Word. Remember that the church is called "her", as the bride of Christ, and it is made up of men and woman alike, with Christ being our [bridegroom], the husband of the elect. When any church strays from the truth and into traditions, it become the apostate woman.

Proverbs 5:4 "But her end is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a twoedged sword."

"Wormwood" from the Strong's Hebrew Dictionary is # 3939; "La`anah, from an unused root word, curse; (regarded as poisonous, therefore accursed)." The words of one of these apostates or churches is poisonous to your spiritual life. We know that at our Lord Jesus Christ's return, out of Christ's mouth went "a sharp twoedged sword", as we read from Revelation 1:16. However wormwood's twoedged sword is a sword of spiritual destruction.

This wormwood is also mentioned in Revelation 8:10, 11; "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;"

When Satan this "great star" falls from heaven onto the earth, there will appear to be a lamp burning with the truth. That light from that lamp will set the entire world up to accept Satan as the Messiah, when in fact his deception will fall on all those that accept his lies, and worship him. Rivers are peoples and nations and the "fountains of waters" are the source of their spiritual knowledge; that source will be contaminated with lies and deception. People will gladly believe a lie.

Revelation 8:11 "And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter."

This "Wormwood" is Satan, who falls from heaven onto the earth, and that is who this apostate church is following. The time of Wormwood's fall is given in Revelation 12:7-9, and the rivers spoken of, and waters are the peoples and nations of the earth, as given in Revelation 17:15; "And he saith unto me, "The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." The world is now being set up for when Satan comes in his role as the spurious [fake] messiah, and poisons or or lies will deceive those that would follow after the lies given by the apostate churches.

If you listen to the false traditions such as the rapture doctrine, promotion of sodomy, and all the other false teaching, you will be ready for the deception and lies that Satan and his Kenite children will throw at you, at Satan's coming at the sixth trumpet. Don't follow her or take part in that apostate church.

Proverbs 5:5 "Her feet go down to death; Her steps take hold on hell."

That apostate woman, the false church, with all her traditions and lies are on a hillside track, free rolling right down to the pits of hell. Stay off that evil train, and stay away for those teachings. What she says may seem to be all right, with all the love, free-giving, and political correctness; spouting out the slogans of one-worldism. It sounds so religious, but in the end it is wormwood, "poisonous and cursed water". It is not from God's Word, and it is not of God. This is an important warning to you, living in this time of the end, with the world aligning up to receive their false messiah, Satan. Wormwood will appear in our generation. If you want a quick trip to hell, Satan's wormwood express is waiting for you and all those that would buy her tickets, it sells cheep.

Proverbs 5:6 "Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, Her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them."

When you "ponder" [hesitate] to consider the lies of Wormwood, that "path of life" will cause you to fall. That path is not firm; their is no stability to Satan's ways at all. Stop and look at many of the so-called churches today, they are always changing, chasing after one new idea, and quick to run over to adopt some heathen thought to make it part of their worship. You will never really know them, for they work off emotions and what sounds right, and never stop to check out the Word of God for correctness to their direction.

When you are a true child of God, and something is playing on your emotions, there should be a red flag go up in your mind to check it out. When something is just doesn't seem right, common sense and discretion should warn you to look out. "Bow thine ear to my understanding: that thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge." verse 1, 2

Proverbs 5:7 "Hear me now therefore, O ye children, And depart not from the words of my mouth."

Jesus used common natural things to test the knowledge of people, to prove whether those thoughts were Kenite or not. He used apples and oranges, and the fruit of trees for His test. If you see an apple on an orange tree, then something is wrong. That is the same way that we are to test any teaching, if it does not check out with God's Word, than it is not of God, the fruit of that teaching is from another tree, not God's. Be a little wiser than the serpent; something is wrong. Put the words from God's mouth in your mind.

Proverbs 5:8 "Remove thy way far from her, And come not nigh the door of her house:"

Remember we are talking about the apostate here; the person, church or teaching that goes against the Word of God. We are to keep away from him or her and not listen to those false teachings. Don't even go near the entrance of the apostate church, that [house of zur] that claims itself to be of God. Can you tell the difference? Do you have discernment? However, a person will founded in God's Word, that has discernment can go anywhere.

Proverbs 5:9 "Lest thou give thine honour unto others, And thy years unto the cruel:"

What this is saying is; "lest thou fall to her [the apostate church's] temptations,.." To the sound Christian, she will not pull you away from the wisdom of sound teaching. Go only where God leads you.

Proverbs 5:10 "Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; And thy labours be in the house of a stranger;"

Remember from verse three of this chapter, this word "stranger" is "nakar", a foreign woman following a idolatrous heathen religion. At the base of all anti-God roots, we find a Kenite, so naturally it has it's origin with the sons of Cain, the offspring of Satan.

Proverbs 5:11 "And thou mourn at the last, When thy flesh and thy body are consumed,"

If you carelessly walk into that heathen house of traditions and false doctrines, and you are drawn in to their traditions of men; and you put aside the Word of God to become biblically illiterate, then you will have no discernment of what you are hearing, whether it be true or false. The greatest treasure you can have in the flesh body is the wisdom from God's Word.

Proverbs 5:12 "And say, `How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;"

Are you telling yourself, "I don't like their warning, I just want to go to church and be with somebody. They don't pick on me or my ways at that church." What is your motive for attending any church? Many just want to be spoon fed from the Word, and never checking the teaching out.

Proverbs 5:13 "And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!"

So who is He talking to here in this verse? asking why didn't I listen? If you asked the question, I don't know which teacher to follow, or who to believe? Then you are showing your ignorance of God's Word. God is talking about the teachers such as Moses, Solomon, Paul and all the others that wrote down what God spoke through them. Their Words are called the "Word of God" and that is what we are to incline our ear to for instruction. A true teacher aligns their teaching to God's Word, or they are not a true teacher.

Proverbs 5:14 "I was almost in all evil In the midst of the congregation and assembly.` "

"I was almost in all evil", in the Hebrew text is: "Beth Essentiae". This denotes that, in a sense, by doing this "I almost faced disgrace". It will not take long to hear what is taught in that congregation and assembly and if there is a lie it becomes part of you. Their evil way becomes your evil way and nature. If you follow their lie through the millennium age, then their sentence and yours is death, spiritual death.

Proverbs 5:15 "Drink waters out of thine own cistern, And running waters out of thine own well."

The "waters of your own well" is the Word of God that you have checked out to be true from God's Word. If you claim to be a Christian, then there is only one place to draw your running pure water of truth, and that is from your own study. Christ is the living Water. In the physical sense, it is telling us to leave our neighbor's water alone, and drink your own.

Proverbs 5:16 "Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, And rivers of waters in the streets."

This verse has a serious error in the translation from the Septuagint Version Hebrew text; it should read: "Let not thy fountains...". It is talking about the planting of your seeds of truth. God is telling us to be controlled where we plant our seeds of truth, to where God leads you to speak. It is given in the spiritual sense. "Rivers of waters" in the Hebrew is "Palgey mayim" are "Divisions of waters"; don't cast your seed to where they will create divisions of waters [irrigation channels in the streets].

Proverbs 5:17 "Let them be only thine own, And not strangers' with thee."

Protect your character, your morals and the truth of what you know to be of God Word. "Strangers" as given here is "Zur", those calling themselves Christians, when in fact they have given themselves over to idolatrous forms and traditions of men. Watch out for what they say and do, and don't let some apostate come into your family and start your loved ones fighting against each other. This applies also to your church family, creating discourse amongst the brethren to where only confusion exists. This speaks spiritually.

Proverbs 5:18 "Let thy fountain be blessed: And rejoice with the wife of thy youth."

The only way that any fountain can be blessed, is if God blesses it. "The wife of thy youth" is in reference to the truth of God's Word as it was given by God to the prophets, apostles and by our Lord Jesus Christ. That is where all of God's blessings come, when we follow those teachings, and walk down God's path.

Remember the church of Ephesus in the end times from Revelation 2:4, the problem that God had with that church was: "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love." That Ephesus church left their first love of God's Word, and started following some "zur", some apostate teaching of traditions of men. Sure, all of the churches of Revelation 2 and 3 are very religious, but it was what they taught that separated them, and caused only two to be acceptable to God. The testing is by their fruit, do they rightly divide and teach the entire Word of God, chapter by chapter and verse by verse? or is their teachings man's traditions?

Proverbs 5:19 "Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; And be thou ravished always with her love."

God can not give a man a more perfect gift than a good woman, a lovely wife. The "hind and the roe" are deer, and in the meadow their movement of foot is a pleasure to watch. That is the type of beauty and pleasing atmosphere that a good woman brings to her man. The point that Solomon is making here is that when you as a man have that kind of woman, seek after her continually to keep that youthful love in your marriage. That is the problem today that has caused so many marriages to break up, the husband has stopped courting and seeking to please the little lady, and has lost sight of that first love. Don't let that love grow still, what ever affection it took to get that wife, keep on doing it. Keep courting her and the home fires burning. Love is the strongest force in the world today, and your marriage is what you put into it, you will get out of it. There are exception to everything.

Now apply this physical instruction to your spiritual life. The relationship of husband to wife, the Christ and his bride [you the Christian]. The bride spoken of here is not the apostate, but one that loves God's Word, and is in turn with God's Spirit. It is talking about investing your time with those with a common interest in seeking the truths from God's Word. That moment when you first accepted the Lord, walked down the aisle or whatever you did when you became saved, the only thing that mattered was your love for Christ, and you wanted to know all you could about Him and His Word. That is the spiritual love affair that is up to you to continue, and your spiritual marriage will continue alive the rest of your life. Invest your time with Christ's own wife, with respect to teaching. This does not apply to evangelism or planting of spiritual seeds.

Proverbs 5:20 "And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, And embrace the bosom of a stranger?"

This "Strange woman" is a "zur", an "apostate". When you have received the real truth of God's Word, why in the world would you go fooling around with spiritual whores. Sure it sounds to good to be true, and you have bought the entire sales presentation, and that is how Satan works. It was new and sounded so religious, with all its ritual and fanfare, but remember that Satan uses hypnotism in his wondrous acts to get your attention and draw you to him. If you have the real thing in God's Word, why would you leave it to follow the whoredoms of some tradition? Note here that the word "Strange" is used, and that is an apostate, one that presents itself as the true church of Christ, but has left the Word, to chase after traditions. This is not talking about other religious forms [of Kenites, and Nakar].

Proverbs 5:21 "For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He pondereth all his goings."

That means that our Lord is watching every thing that you do and say, and he knows the motives behind what you have to say and do. God is keeping His ledger and keeps account of your ways and motives. Remember as a child of His, He is concerned with your protection, and correcting you where it is needed. Put it in this light, if you are weak in the knowledge of His Word, than you are as a toddler in the eyes of the our Heavenly Father. As a father of your toddler child, you would not think twice of allowing that small child wander into danger, or not be corrected when the child does things that are wrong. Your love for your child causes you to do what you do in bring up that child; and that is as our Heavenly Father looks down on you. As a spiritual bottle sucker you have to be watched closer, than after you have matured in the Word and have set your ways according to the path that is set by His Word.

Matthew 18:10 "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of My Father Which is in heaven."

The correction of a two year old child has to be different than the discipline put on a teenager, or a fully matured person. God watches you real close when you are unsure of His Ways, He ponders or takes account to correct you in the manner that is required. The angels watching over you has God's attention to your every spiritual need. The second you need help, you have that help.

Proverbs 5:22 "His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, And he shall be holden with cords of his sins."

This is speaking of the wicked person. The wicked person spins his own web that he will be caught in. Each of those sins that he finds pleasure in will add one more thred to the web that will so entangle him and drag him down to hell. False preachers and teachers leading others into their false traditions are sliding into that web faster than any others of the wicked. Remember that judgment starts at the pulpit of the church house. God dislikes a false shepherd more than anything else. The pastor is suppose to feed the sheep, and when the false pastor ["zur"-apostate] leads God's sheep into the enemy camp, God has a special roasting place for that one, Hell.

Proverbs 5:23 "He shall die without instruction; And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray."

God isn't the one that causes you to go astray, for it is your choice which path you will take. He has given you His Word, and it is up to you to study it and set your path in life by that Word. The way you think, the standards you set, and the things you do are cause by what ever instructions you have put into it. Go back to Proverbs 1:7; "The fear [reverence] of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction." What ever you put into your mind, is what controls the way you think and your actions. If you feed off filth in your spiritual life, is there any doubt to what controls your thoughts and deeds? There is only one direction for those that seek folly in their life, and that is the path to destruction.
