THE PSALMS Chapter 106 "Epilogue. Rest." "How Lost." "How Valued." This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from it's author R. Christopherson Psalms 105 was taking a historical view of the past to see what it would be like at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King. It looks at how people drift and become confused over a period of time. We had a view of the glorious wonders that our Lord did for to bring His people out of captivity. So now in this Psalms 106, we will have a view of how people will react to their sins. We will look at how our sins came about, even to us living in this final generation. This is to be continued at Zion, but it looks closely at the sins of that generation that was freed from Pharaoh. They took the wealth of Egypt, crossed the Red sea, and then wandered in the wilderness for the next forty years in their sins. Historically it was the generation that in the end, would die off, but the youth of that travel would live to enter into the promise land. However there were a few that were allowed to live to enter into the promise land. The point to this chapter is to observe what they did, and benefit from their mistakes. Look at the wonderful things that God did for the people, and that should assure you that He will do the same for you. Psalms 106:1 "Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: For His mercy endureth for ever." This is one of the Hallelujah songs, giving praise and thanks to our Lord. God is merciful all the time, in the past and here today. God's mercy is forever, and when God has a duty for you in these end times, He will give you the, gifts, strength and wisdom to carry it out. Psalms 106:2 "Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can shew forth all His praise?" The Word of God lists all those mighty supernatural acts, how many of them do you remember. Do you talk about those acts with others, for those acts reassure us that He will keep His many promises to you and I today. Psalms 106:3 "Blessed are they that keep judgment, And he that doeth righteous-ness at all times." Judgment as given here is using good common sense. It means that you do not judge on any matter until you hear both sides of the story, and then you are fair in your judgments, or decisions. You simply can't judge until all the facts have been given. Then "doeth righteousness" is to be fair on the actions that you do take. Psalms 106:4 "Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that Thou bearest unto Thy People: O visit me with Thy salvation;" "The People" spoken of here are God's people. This is saying, Father, remember me as you remembered them. When in captivity, you brought them salvation, and saved them from Pharaoh's captivity, and brought them out. Today the world is also in captivity by the four hidden dynasties that are binding the people of this generation. They are preparing the world for the arrival of the king of Babylon, Satan, that will come shortly. The verses that follow here are pressing forward to the time we are now in. So here is what we are to look for. Psalms 106:5 "That I may see the good of Thy chosen, That I may rejoice in the gladness of Thy nation, That I may glory with Thine inheritance." There are three ways stated here that God calls those He loves. The first is the "good of Thy chosen". The second is that "I may rejoice in the gladness of Thy nation." The third is "that I may glory with Thine inheritance." God's inheritance is His children, and those children are called by three different names; Thy chosen, the nation, and Thine inheritance. Many are called but few are chosen. Psalms 106:6 "We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly." This verse names three types of sins that were done. In the Hebrew text, these sins are "chata"; the "iniquity" is "avah"; and the "wickedly" is "rasha". "Chata" is "to sin morally, to stumble and fall not necessarily willfully". And act of thought word or deed, not a condition. "Avah" is "perverseness, the root of, to be bent, or crooked". When you know something is wrong, yet you cover up the act for any reason. "Rasha" is "wickedness, in the sense of the restless activity of our fallen nature". In this act you plan the wickedness, such as improper activity like robbery. Mankind is just as full of mischief today as they were back in Moses' day. These are not levels of sins, but division of sin within man's heart or mind. So now we will view six of those sins that the people committed in the wilderness. We are in that final generation that shall enter into the next promise land, at Christ's coming. Can we learn from their mistakes, so that we don't commit the same sins as those ancient Israelites committed while in the wilderness? These sins would be listed in a process of stages. Psalms 106:7 "Our fathers understood not Thy wonders in Egypt; They remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; But provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red sea." The people watched the miracles of our Father taking place, as He was freeing them from their captivity, and yet they still provoked Him. Father listened to their complaining and doubted that He could save them, when they reached the Red sea. They watched as the plagues hit the Egyptians, and passed right over them. Then by the time they reached the Red sea, they were so use to the miracles that they took God for granted. They expected miracles as if God owed it to them, and this provoked God to anger. Psalms 106:8 "Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, That He might make His mighty power to be known." Even after the all the complaining, God still parted the sea and they crossed over on dry land. God gave them unmerited mercy; He saved them for the sake of His own name. When we do not deserve mercy, God is there to grant His mercies to us. Psalms 106:9 "He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: So He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness." Those miracles continued to take place after they passed through the Red sea, for forty years as they passed through the wilderness. Yet they continued to complain. Psalms 106:10 "And He saved them from the hand of Him that hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy." When you pass through the water of baptism, it also frees you from the hand of your enemies, when you have the faith to believe on Him. When you are in the Lord, His hand is always there holding you up, to get through those problems. Sure we get tried and tested from time to time, but we have that assurance that He will be there when the going gets tough. Psalms 106:11 "And the waters covered their enemies: There was not one of them left." Just as the Red sea came as a flood to cover over the Israelites enemies, that water of God's covering will give us protection while destroying our enemies. Those that have not studied Father's Word, that do not know the warnings, will be taken under by Satan's flood of lies. They will not be aware of those events that must happen before the trumpet sounds to end this earth age. Psalms 106:12 "Then believed they His words; They sang His praise." The next three verses will give us the first principle sin that they committed. Do you know what it was, for it could happen to you? It is the first step or principle to their fall, and was the start of their downfall. Sure they murmured, and complained but now for the first step. Psalms 106:13 "They soon forgat His works; They waited not for His counsel:" The first step is to forget how God is going to take care of you, and allow yourself to become impatient. The first step to a very long fall is impatience and forgetting the wonderful love that Father has given to you, which can lead your life to a hell here on earth. Be mindful of how God will work in your life, and wait on His counsel. Have patience so that God can work in your life in the manner that He chooses. Psalms 106:14 "But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tempted God in the desert." They gripped about their empty stomach, and their discomfort. Psalms 106:15 "And He gave them their request; But sent leanness into their soul." Even when they were at their lowest emotionally, Father gave them the things they cried out for, and lifted their souls and spirits. This shows the love our Father had for them. Psalms 106:16 "They envied Moses also in the camp, And Aaron the saint of the Lord." So here is the second sin that they practiced; They rebelled against their leaders, and thought they could do it on their own. They thought that they didn't need anybody, but could make a go on their own. They forgot how Moses lead them out of Egypt, and they rebelled against Aaron, God's chosen to lead them spiritually. Psalms 106:17 "The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And covered the company of Abiram." These were the sons of Aaron himself that started the rebellion, and created a split in the camp of the Israelites. Psalms 106:18 "And a fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked." The ground opened up and covered over Dathan, and all those that followed Abiram. There was a fire also that killed many in their group of dissenters that turned their backs on God, Moses and Aaron. They went against the Word that God gave them, and they wanted to live their lives their own way. It's very popular even today, to do it my way, and that is the start of a very long fall. We are one body in Christ, and He is the head of His own body. The parts of the body can't start their own body, for then you don't have a complete body anymore. A leg can't stray off in one direction with the head in another, and the arm in still another. "We are one body in Christ", as Paul states. Romans 12:3 "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:4,5 "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." So the first principle sin was murmuring and forgetting God, and the second here is insurrection and rebellion against the leaders placed by God. Now the third is in verses 19 -23, the worshipping of the golden calf. Psalms 106:19 "They made a calf in Horeb, And worshipped the molten image." Anytime you forget God, you are going to change the direction of your worship to something else; something of gold and silver, and things made with human hands or images of man's minds. They stopped worshipping God, and worshipped the molten image made by their own hands. They forgot all that God had done for them, bringing them out of captivity, and they started worshipping an object that they made with their one hands. When their minds grew lean; this then is the outcome of their wandering minds. Psalms 106:20 "Thus they changed their glory Into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass." Can you believe that, God was their glory, in all the wonders and miracles that He had done for them. And yet they changed their glory of their worship to a dumb ox that can only eat grass and pull a plow. Before you start pointing a finger at them, stop and look around you at the things that have become the glory of our lives. This was the first generation of Israel out there in the wilderness: God's people had turned their backs on Him, and those acts are placed in God's Word as a warning to us today. We are living in a generation that will see a false god coming to earth, and there will be an image that He creates, and the entire world will fall down and worship that image. Revelation 13:14 "And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles, which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live." This political head of the world beast that now exists will die soon. When Satan comes to this earth, he will revive that political beast of the United Nation's that now exists, but it will be in a religious form. Then through that religious government beast that will rise, Satan will make an image of that beast, and the world will worship that image. We are moving to the time that this will happen. This worship of the ox in the wilderness is child's play compared to the temptation that we will face shortly. Revelation 13:3 "And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded [the political head] to death; and his deadly wound was healed [into a religious government]: and all the world wondered after the beast." Revelation 13:4 "And they worshipped the dragon [Satan] which gave power unto the beast [That one world government, with it's ten agencies]: and they worshipped the beast, saying, "Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" There is a division on the earth at the coming of Satan in his role as Antichrist. The division is between those that will worship Satan and that image of the beast, and those "with the seal of God in their foreheads" that will not take his number, and worship that image. Those with the seal or Word of God in their minds, know and understand what is happening, and will wait patiently for the true Christ. Nobody is going anywhere from this earth, unless they die, between now and that seventh trump sounding at the end of this age of flesh man. A rapture of escape is just not written in God's Word. Don't worship a dumb ox, or an created image of any sort. God created the ox and the beast, so why worship the creation? Why not worship the creator? Psalms 106:21 "They forgat God their saviour, Which had done great things in Egypt;" The Israelites forgot those things that God did for them in Egypt, and they could not see beyond the next hill. People will forget just how good the blessings are that they received today, when a trial of test comes tomorrow. Psalms 106:22 "Wondrous works in the land of Ham, And terrible things by the Red Sea." As that great wall of water separated and the dry land lay before them, they crossed on dry ground, not mud. And then they turned and watched as the Egyptian army was drowned in that flood of water that came over them. Those miracles were all forgotten in their minds, and all they could see were those trials that lay immediately before them. Psalms 106:23 "Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He should destroy them." Moses was God's chosen to do a mission for our Heavenly Father, for he was not the chosen of the People. When God was about to come down hard on the Israelites for all their complaining, Moses stood in the breach to protect them. Moses time after time was there to plead with God not to destroy them, and God listened to His chosen. Psalms 106:24 "Yea, they despised the pleasant land, They believed not His Word:" Verses 24 to 27 is the next principle sin committed by the Israelites. This sin was the twisting of the truth, the reports of giants in the land, that did not exist. The spies came back and all but two lied to Moses, the chosen of God to lead the people. So rather than believing their Heavenly Father, they took the word of these false spies, or false prophets. How many Christians today are taking the word of man, and not checking out what his report is from the Word of God? In time you start to believe that those giants in the land do exist and have power over you, and build your false hopes lies. God gave you power over all the giants, in Luke 10:18,19, but you have to take that power and use it. Luke 10:18,19 "And He said unto them, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give utno you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Friend, there are no giants as far as we are concerned. Good Christians are not offended when these warnings are given, for they continue their faith in our Father and His Word. We do not stray from the way God is leading us, when these false reports reach our ears. That is why we are to stay in the Word of God and seek out those truths, and become sealed in our minds, as we watch the events of our day come to pass. That is professionalism in serving God. Remember when the Israelites finally entered into the promise land, there were no giants, just one old toothless man that could harm anybody. God had already cleared those giants out while they were down in Egypt. There was a hill out there called "the giants back", and fear came over the spies and they would not go beyond that point. They made up their stories, and returned to camp to spout their lies. Just as in the day that the spies when into their promise land, there are no giants in our land today, as far as a true Christian is concerned. Don't lessen to those that would make of their false reports, for we have the power, strength and the victory in our Lord Jesus Christ. And we shall overcome: we have the victory. Psalms 106:25 "But murmured in their tents, And hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord." That is the results of listening to lies, instead of listening to God. You follow what you believe to be true, and when you believe a lie, then everything you do is based on that lie. Psalms 106:26 "Therefore He lifted up His hand against them, To overthrow them in the wilderness:" Before the Israelites entered into the promise land, God killed of an entire generation that allowed themselves to believe lies. Psalms 106:27 "To overthrow their seed also among the nations, And to scatter them in the lands." There was one generation of Israelites, that died out there in the wilderness. Psalms 106:28 "They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead." This then is the fifth principle sin, and it will lead you away from even common sense. They followed that Moabish god, Baalpeor. Idols are dead, without life, and the ate or participated in the worship of those sacrifices to Idols. So lets take a closer look at what Baal-poer was all about from Numbers 25. Numbers 25:1 "And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab." Numbers 25:2 "And they called the People unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the People did eat , and bowed down to their gods." Numbers 25:3 "And Israel joined himself unto Baal-poer: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel." "Baal" in the Hebrew text means "Lord", and "poer" means "mountain". This form of worship was an ancient Canaanite worship that the Moabites had picked up. Poer was a mountain in the land of the Moabites where this heathen God was worshipped. Baal was a Moabite idol, and those Israelites who were called to worship that idol of Baal became prostitutes [their sacrifices], that were necessary for that worship. It was a heathen ritual of prostitution. God was going to end all Israel at that point in time, there camped with the Moabites. And Moses pleaded with God, and the Lord set a condition for saving the rest of Israel. Numbers 25:5 "And the Lord said unto Moses, "Take all the heads of the People, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel." In our day, bending a knee to Baal is like bending a knee to Satan the Antichrist. We are to be the virgins, Christ bride continuing keeping ourselves for our husband, the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. See that you are not involved in this fifth type of sin. Don't be drawn into that old dead idol worship of any sort. Many people today let money or property become their idol. Anything that come between you and Almighty God is an idol to you. When you put anything before your Father that is idol worship, and in the Christian world today, idol worship is massive. Psalms 106:29 "Thus they provoked Him to anger with their inventions: And the plague brake in upon them." When you start messing around in your life, and leave God and His Word out of your life, God can bring His plagues down on you hard. Today we see where men have taken one little truth, and from it created many different religions from it. Inventions don't start in God's Word, but in men's minds. When the Israelites took hold of Baal-peor worship, they loved it, but God told Moses that had to be done or all Israel would be destroyed. Numbers 25:5 "And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, "Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor." Moses told the judges of Israel to kill all those that took part in this sexual form of religious practice. No ands, ifs, or buts. kill them all. Numbers 25:6 "And, behold one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." There is always one in the crowd that thinks he can make a joke out of what God says, and this man brought his prostitute of bail to the tent of Moses. More than likely he was well loved amongst his family, for many were weeping at the punishment that would come to this man. Psalms 106:30 "Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: And so the plague was stayed." Numbers 25:7 "And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazer, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;" When this wickedness came into the camp, someone had to take a stand. Numbers 25:8 "And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel." When Moses and Eleazer the priest stood there watching this man and woman standing before them. Someone had to make a move, and this young Phinehas took his spear and did the job. Praise God for the men and women of God that truly love him, that when all the others stand and do nothing, they will make a move to end that sin in their midst. Psalms 106:31 "And that was counted unto him for righteousness Unto all generations for evermore." Phinehas was an example to us living today. Psalms 106:32 "They angered Him also at the waters of strife, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:" So here is the sixth principle sin, which is the final one. This sin is insurrection against Moses and Aaron, the ones that God put over the people to lead them into the promise land. They would not obey the Word of God under the instruction that God put over them. It was through their gripping and murmuring that they caused Moses to smite the rock twice, and take the credit for the things that God had done for them. This made God angry at them, and God was about to end their lives. Psalms 106:33 "Because they provoked his spirit, So that he spake unadvisedly with his lips." The people of Israel provoked Moses' spirit. When you open your mouth and cause those that are over you spiritually to go against what they know to be right from God's Word, you become guilty of the acts that your murmuring caused. They made Moses so mad at them, that Moses said and did things that he would not have said under normal conditions. Numbers 20:1-13 tells us of the murmurings of the people; but God told Moses to take his rod and strike the rock but once. Numbers 20:7, 8 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, "Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock, so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink." " Did Moses "speak to the rock, in front of the congregation" as the Lord told him to do? No, Moses was mad, and in his frame of mind when against the Lord. Numbers 20:10 "And Moses and Aaron gather the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, "Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?" Numbers 20:11 "And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also." God gave the water, but Moses took the credit with his actions and words. God tried to present Himself as the kind and loving God that He is, and in Moses anger he took from God what was rightfully His. Moses paid a dear price for his disobedience. Numbers 20:12 "And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron. "Because ye believed Me not, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them." Those that took part in all that rebellion, including Moses and Aaron for their words and deeds when they were mad, would not enter into the promise land. They would die off in the wilderness. Psalms 106:34 "They did not destroy the nations, Concerning whom the Lord commanded them:" They were suppose to kill off the Kenites, the Rathiams, and all the other Baal worshippers in the land that God promised them, but they did not. They did not do as they were told. Psalms 106:35 "But were mingled among the heathen, And learned their works." Instead they took those heathen for wives and husbands, and took their heathen ways as their own ways. The took their idols, and religions as their own. Psalms 106:36 "And they served their idols: Which were a snare unto them." They forgot their own True God that brought them out of captivity in Egypt, and led them through the wilderness. When you stop and take a look at some of the traut, demonic ideas that are taught as being Christian today, there is no difference. They take their traditions and substitute those man made ideas for the truth of God's holy Word. Psalms 106:37 "Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils," Just as those forefathers lead their sons and daughter to devils, today our people will lead their sons and daughter to Satan, in his role as the Antichrist. Psalms 106:38 "And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood." They not only worshipped at the sexual idol of Baal-poer, but they practiced Moloch worship; the burning of their sons and daughters in Moloch worship. This word "polluted" in the Hebrew text, mean morally. They practiced the worship of human sacrifice, and God said that such a for a worship had never entered His mind. This is the same form used today, as when a congregation is held together with fear of God, rather than showing the Lord of God. Threating a child that God likes to burn children that are not on their side, do the things that they put forth, and are obedient to their congregation. That is a form of Moloch worship. Where as they should be teaching the grace that our Heavenly Father offers, and the undeserved mercy that is offered to those that will repent and come under the shed blood of Christ. God loves them, and it is Satan that desires that Moloch worship is practiced. You hold a congregation by and through the love of God. Holding a congregation by fear a sin and a abomination to God. Psalms 106:39 "Thus were they defiled with their own works, And went a whoring with their own inventions." They defiled themselves by their own conduct. Their inventions are those religious ways that they created in their own minds that go against the Word of God. They went whoring after those things that pleased them. In these end times, most will go whoring after the great Harlot church, that will lead them to Antichrist. And they will do it gladly and in ignorance. If they have not learned God's Word of those events of this final generation, that will enter into the Baal worship of these end times. All six of these principle sins lead to this final result. The point is that you do not forget Him, or His Word, which is His council. Stop listening to the religious inventions of men. Psalms 106:40 "Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against His People, Insomuch that He abhorred His own inheritance." Because of what those Israelites did in the wilderness, God abhorred his own people, He turned His back on those promises of that promise land, and they all died of in the wilderness except for those two faithful witness. Joshua and Calab were the only two that gave an honest report, and God allowed them to enter into the promise land for their just rewards. If you think that you can go whoring after these religious inventions of today, and God will have anything to do with you, think again. Psalms 106:41 "And He gave them into the hand of the heathen; And they that hated them ruled over them." Today our people have turned their back on God, and are off chasing their own religious inventions. God has placed the Christian nations under those four hidden dynasties, the Kenites and their one world system of trade, and commercialism. Through those systems of Religion, Politics, Economics, and Education, every aspect of your life is regulated to their standards. Psalms 106:42 "Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand." Our people today aren't even wise enough today to know who they are or where they came from. Most think that the Kenites are God's chosen, and true Israel or Gentile. With an understanding like this, how in the world are they going to understand any of God's Word in this final generation. We are under their one world monetary system, and allow them to control our trade agreements, borders, and way of life. Through their four hidden dynasties, and the world system of trade and agreements, every part of our lives has come unto Satan's systems, and our people are completely ignorant of it. Psalms 106:43 "Many times did He deliver them; But they provoked Him with their counsel, And were brought low for their iniquity." It seems like every time God shows favor to our nation and our people, they completely forget what God has done, and try to take the credit to themselves. So what we are talking about is brought forth to our time, today. It applies to you living in our generation. Psalms 106:44 "Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry:" Over and over He tries to show His love to you and our nation. When He hears our cries, He is there to help us. Our Father is not someone that wants to see anyone burn, but he will allow each soul to chose the way that they will go. Psalms 106:45 "And He remembered for them His covenant, And repented according to the multitude of His mercies." God's unmerited mercy flows from God when ever you repent and seek Him. Even though we don't deserve it, God remembers all His promises that He has made to you through His Word. Psalms 106:46 "He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives." This one world system is not forever, but shortly Satan will be in the pit, and all evil will be removed from this earth. Psalms 106:47 "Save us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the heathen, To give thanks unto Thy holy name, And to triumph in Thy praise." And so we are, and we can claim it even today. That day of salvation is coming when our Lord Jesus Christ will return and draw out His people from all heathen nations. Psalms 106:48 "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: And let all the people say, "Amen." Praise ye THE LORD." Praise God for His Word, for we know that every word of it is true and will come to pass. "Praise ye THE LORD, Hallelujah".
