THE PSALMS Chapter 149 "The Fourth Hallelujah Psalm [Numbers]." This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from it's author R. Christopherson Psalms 149:1 "Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, And His praise in the congregation of saints." Notice that the "saints", the set aside ones, they are singled out in this particular Psalm. Psalms 149:2 "Let Israel rejoice in Him That made him: Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King." Let all the children of the Lord, the children of Israel rejoice in their King. Our King is coming very shortly to set up His kingdom right here on earth, and what a wonderful time that will be. Psalms 149:3 "Let them praise His name In the dance: Let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp." Let us praise His name: The sacred name of the Lord, YHVH. There is something real special to rejoice in, for you are a child of the Living God. He created everything and you belong to Him, that is your heritage. The life eternal that He has given you. Psalms 149:4 "For the Lord taketh pleasure in His People: He will beautify the meek with salvation." Our heavenly Father wants to take pleasure in you, He has set up this beautiful plan of salvation and He offered it to you. Psalms 149:5 "Let the saints be joyful in glory: Let them sing aloud upon their beds." This comes from Numbers 14:21; "But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord." The saints know the glory of God and have tasted of that Joy of the Lord. That glory fills our daily lives and gives us peace of mind at night. Psalms 149:6 "Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand;" Revelation 1:16 "And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength." Our Lord Jesus Christ's tongue is a two-edged sword, and if you are in Christ and teach His living Word then it is a sword that you can use to cut into Satan's lies and deception. The truth of His Word does cut deep into the lies and deception that is going on now. Psalms 149:7 "To execute vengeance upon the heathen, And punishments upon the people;" The only time our Heavenly Father brings His vengeance upon the heathen is when they deserve it. That is the way that He shows His love for you, and justice on the heathen. Psalms 149:8 "To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron;" Psalms 149:9 "To execute upon them the judgment written: This honour have all His saints. Praise the Lord." Don't overlook this now; God's vengeance will bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron, because He is fulfilling His Word. It is written that He shall return, and when He does, our Lord will rule over those kings and rulers of this world with a iron rod. Revelation 19:15 "And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." He comes as the KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. The things Jesus Christ shall do will be exactly as it is written in His Word, and the saints of God will have a role to play in that kingdom of Christ here on earth. Our duties and the events of that Millennium age are spelled out in Ezekiel chapters 40 to 48. God's Word will be fulfilled as it is written in the entire Word of God. Now look at the last part of this verse. "This honor have all His saints", for when you look forward to that time of Christ's return, all His saints will be placed in a high position of honor. It will be our inheritance, and the honor belongs to "His saints. Praise the Lord." _______________________________________________________________________________________
