"Taking His Place of Suffering."
"Michtam of David."

The word "Michtam" in the Hebrew comes from "Katam" and it means to cut into, or engrave, such as in Jeremiah 2:22; "..thine iniquity is graven before me." This means that what is about to be spoken, is so important that it is worthy of being engraven into our very minds. It is worthy of being chiseled in stone. This is a precious truth concerning our Messiah to be hidden from the sight of other, for only those directed to.

So we have finished the Psalms dealing with Satan as the Antichrist, and now in the sixteenth chapter we come to the man, Christ Jesus. So this Psalm and those following will be addressed to the Man Christ Jesus.

Psalms 16:1 "Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust."

You put this thought into a condition to make it eternal. The thought to be preserved is that my trust is to be placed in God for ever. When you accept Christ, He preserves and protects you from this world.

Psalms 16:2 "O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, "Thou art my Lord: My goodness extendeth not to thee;"

This is saying that God is my welfare. He protects me and looks out for me.

Psalms 16:3 "But to the the saints that are in the earth, And to the excellent, in whom is all my delight."

These Saints are the set aside ones, they are God's chosen ones. These are those that have the ears to hear and the eyes to see the truths from God's Word. The word Saints are used every time God is directing a special message to His set aside ones.

Psalms 16:4 "Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take up their names into my lips."

Their sorrows will be multiplied when they hasten after Satan. Don't be deceived by Satan, for when you are, God will not accept your prayer or repentance. The Scriptures are full of warnings, concerning the people that will follow Satan in his role, Antichrist. This is prophecy and pertains to the end generation. We are living in that generation when the appearing of the false god of false gods will take the entire world. The Antichrist shall come.

Psalms 16:5 "The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot."

Your portion is your lot. It is the inheritance that is set aside for you. There are four things that are part of this portion; The path, presence, pleasures, and the lot. Our protection in these final days against Satan the Antichrist is spelled out in the "song of Moses", from Deuteronomy 32. Also we are to understand Ezekiel 44, concerning the Zadok. The Zadok are the Saints, the set aside ones. The are with Christ through the Millennium and share in the inheritance. There will only be a very small group of people that will have access personally with Jesus in the Millennium, and they are the Elect, the Zadok. Very few will overcome in the before the Millennium during the time of the great deception, and those that have already overcome will not have part in the Millennium, for they will stay in the heavens with the Father until this earth age ends.

Ezekiel 44:28 "And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye swhall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession."

The "possession" is the inheritance, and Almighty God is the inheritance of the Zadok, the Just, the Elect. If you have ears to hear, you are very fortunately to know what the Word is saying. Father owns everything because he created all of it, and thus as an inheritance, it is becomes the possession of the Zadok, God's elect.

Psalms 16:6 "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly heritage."

That goodly heritage is our Heavenly Father and our inheritance is His Will.

Psalms 16:7 "I will bless the Lord, Who hath given me counsel: My reins also instruct me in the night seasons."

"My reins" are my thoughts. The Lord guides my thought and dreams as I lay on my bed to meditate." He speaks to us through His Word, and as we meditate on our studies, His Spirit reveals His thoughts to us. God has written this letter we call the Bible to you, and when you read that letter, by read all the lines and chapters to see what Father expects of you. When a friend sends you a letter, you read all the lines and in order that he or she has written them. You follow that letter to get the intent of that letter in your mind, with understanding, that is as we are to read the letters of the Bible, Chapter by Chapter, and verse by verse, for the understanding of subject of the material. Line upon line and precept upon precept and then you will be listening to the counsel of you Heavenly Father, the very words of the Living God. That becomes your inheritance from Father.

Psalms 16:8 "I have set the Lord always before me: Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

Jesus Christ is our head counselor, and it is good to have our head counselor at the right hand of God. Verse eight changes from the focus on the Saints; to the Messiah, the one who is at the right hand of the Father. Jesus Christ is our advocate before the throne of God in heaven. Jesus Christ the Messiah is our inheritance when when we are in Him.

Psalms 16:9 "Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall rest in hope."

This is Jesus speaking; that tabernacle of flesh shall rest in hope. This is also quoted in the book of Acts in the New Testament. Verses eight through eleven are taken from Acts 2:25-28.

Psalms 16:10 "For Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; Neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption."

"Corruption" pertains to when the flesh body turns to ashes. So what this is saying is that Christ's body is one body that God would not allow that precious flesh even to turn to the dust of the earth that it was made of. It would not be allowed to happen. Christ did not let His soul rest in hell, because He had things to do; to preach to the lost, and to lead lost souls out of captivity. When Jesus was there He taught the truths that those souls had not heard in their flesh bodies.

I Peter 3:18-19; "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" [18] "By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison."

Jesus Christ paid the price four days before on the cross so when the Messiah came out of that tomb, he brought with him all those that heard the message and believed. So Jesus taught all those souls in paradise, all the way back to the beginning.

I Peter 3:20 "Which sometimes were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water."

Though it states Noah, it is the beginning, which goes to the beginning of mankind in the flesh. Jesus Christ gave them the same right and opportunity that you and I have today, for we know that Jesus Christ died on the cross for each of individually. Then millions of them overcame, and came follow Christ into heaven. Christ freed them and released them from the bonds of prison that their souls were in. But Jesus flesh body was not left in the tomb, for the sake of the hope of Christians to be a visual reminder for teaching, Father had to raise the entire body, including Christ's flesh body.

The thought of most men and women today is that when you put the dead flesh into the grave, their traditions have taught them that the soul is going into the grave right along with that dead corpse, for they just cannot see that the soul goes instantly to be with the Father. Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto the God [the Father] Who gave it." They just can't accept that the beautiful soul of that person leaves instantly at the time of death to be with Father. The real person is not the flesh that you gaze upon in this earth age, but the Soul and Spirit that dwells for the short time in that flesh body made from the elements of this earth. The part of you that is eternal is not your flesh, but your soul, and its intellect your spirit. Christ's body, however, was an exception for His flesh did not see corruption. It did not stay nor see the grave, but He arose from the dead.

Psalms 16:11 "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In Thy presence is fulness of joy; At Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

This is the key to having a life with the presence of the fullness of Joy. As you do the work of the Father, there are pleasures in seeing God's working through you. If a little trouble comes your way, as a man or woman of God, we can handle it. It is with the boldness that we have in Christ that allows us to face the things of this world with confidence. We know that the things of this world are very temporary, and now living in these end times, we know from where our protection and strength to stand comes from. As a child of God, we know where and what our inheritance is, and that what we look forward to is far better than what is in this world age. If you have ever wondered what your inheritance is, Jesus tells us in Ezekiel 44:28; And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession." That inheritance is eternal life, and all the glory that it brings. Can you handle that?
