THE PSALMS Chapter 31 "His People's Prayer and Praise in View of the Crucifixion." This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from the author R. Christopherson
This Psalms 31, is exactly like Psalms 20, for
this chapter and the next three Psalms will be given in view of
the Psalm 20. So what was covered in the twentieth Psalm? The
Psalm 20 covered "Jacob's troubles"; that time when the
Antichrist would be here on earth in the end times, and the entire
world will go chasing after him. All that is except God's elect;
those with the seal or truth of God's Word hidden in their minds
with understanding. This time is right before us today, and
spiritually speaking it will be the most severe time that this
earth age of flesh man has ever seen. This is talking about
mankind being deceived, and this deception is well on its way to
completion even now. Mankind is entering into a phase of spiritual
sleeping sickness, and the lies and traditions of men are blinding
them to the truths of God's Word.
We know from Romans 11:7-10 that they were blinded for their own good, for it is "(God that has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear";) unto this day." Romans 11:9-10 "And David saith, "Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense unto them:" [9] "Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back always." [10] We know that they will not know what they are doing, because of the deception that will cover the earth. They simply do not know that Satan will come appearing exactly as Jesus the Messiah, the Christ. Then after the people and nation of the earth has completely been tested over the five months period of time, the True Messiah will come, and all will be changed into their incorruptible bodies, to be taught discipline through the thousand year period. In the closing verses of Psalms 20 tells us of the time after the blood of Christ had paid the price for the atonement of your and my sins, and through our repentance in Jesus' name, each of us individually could be redeemed by Him. Then the writer writes in verse seven: "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God." Is that where your faith and trust is in? Psalms 20:8, 9 "They are brought down and fallen: But we are risen, and stand upright." [8] "Save, Lord: Let the king hear us when we call." [9] This refers to the end times, the time we are now living in. So the people are giving their praise in these end times in view of Psalms 20. Psalms 31:1 In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: Deliver me in Thy righteousness." We are approaching that time when the world will make Christians feel ashamed just to say that they are of Christ. That time when all mankind will be ashamed will be at the coming of the Lord, at the seventh and final trump. Revelation 6:15, 16; "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;" [15] "And said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him That sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:" [16] "For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" [17] The people of the entire world will be ashamed, all that is except those that put their trust in Jesus Christ, and are sealed in their mind with the truth. Many will be deceived by putting their trust in a rapture theory; for Jesus warned us that Satan would be coming first, absolutely first; and that you should not be deceived and ashamed by the lies of man's false traditions. Psalms 31:2 "Bow down Thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: Be Thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me." Listen to me and my prayers Father. When you have the Almighty Father as your rock and foundation, you do not need any other defense to save you. As the one world system is coming into full force and the real testing is starting, many are growing weary of studying and staying focused on Word and prophecies that we are now facing. Even with the strong undercurrent of deception that is now going on, the worst is yet to come. Many times the waiting on the battle to begin is harder on an individual than the real battle when it comes. It will be the spirit of the Christian that will carry him through this fierce spiritual battle that we are about to face. The point here is that we put ourselves in the hand of the Lord, and learn to trust him and stay there. Don't be wandering off into the back fields of false doctrines that you know go against the Word of God. Stay focused with and in the Word of God. Let our God be your defense. Psalms 31:3 "For Thou art my rock and my fortress; Therefore for Thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." Do you understand, in our day there just is no other rock and fortress for our defense. In the Hebrew text, it says; "Gently Father, lead me and guide me through these times." God doesn't push anybody, but as you put your trust in Him, He leads. That is why He is the good Shepherd, for He leads his sheep in the paths that we are to follow. Father's sheep know His voice and they follow their shepherd faithfully, when He calls. God has given you the right to enter into and under His protection, that is His promise to you, so do it. Psalms 31:4 "Pull me out of the net that they have privily for me: for Thou art my strength." As the wicked and Kenites do their plotting in secret [privily] to draw me away from you, Father; free me from their nets that are set to ensnare me. The only way to stay out of those nets, is to rely of Father and His Word. If you count on your own strength and understanding; as wise as Satan and His evil spirits are, you will be sucked up like dirt to a vacuum cleaner to them. Trust Father, and ask Him to bow an ear to hear your prayers of request. Father will hear your prayers of request for help and instructions. Psalms 31:5 "Into Thine hand I commit my spirit: Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth." It is easy to say, "I commit my spirit"; but can you actually commit your spirit to Him? The Lord God of truth has redeemed you, and paid the full price on the cross. The word "redeemed" in the Hebrew text is "padah", "to deliver by power" and that power is by the hand of Almighty God. Our Heavenly Father is our protector, and He delivers us by His unlimited power. Yet He leads us gently by His still quiet voice through His Spirit. We follow the instruction of that voice by studying His Word, and from the Word His Spirit leads us. Psalms 31:6 "I have hated them that regard lying vanities: But I trust in the Lord." God doesn't like it when so called teachers and pastors take God's Word and twist it to their own imaginations, for what ever their purposes. God's Word is given in the manuscripts, and with a little effort you can find out the exact meaning of those writings as it was intended. You search for the truth, and rely on those instruction, and that is how you trust in the Lord. Psalms 31:7 "I will be glad and rejoice in Thy mercy: For Thou hast considered my trouble; Thou hast known my soul in adversities;" Remember that this trouble is the "trouble of Jacob", the time when the Antichrist is here on earth and the entire world, except for the elect, believes and worships him has God. God knows you and your mind even when you are confronted with adversities. He know when you are in trouble and all over those things that you are faced with. Remember He is your defense no matter what the trouble. So learn to trust Him and take joy in all the mercies that He sends your way. Thank Him for those things that He does for you. Psalms 31:8 "And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: Thou hast set my feet in a large room." I know for a fact that You will not give me over to the hand of the enemy. If your feet were in a closed room you would not have the room to maneuver out of those traps that the enemy sets for you. Father will give you ways to maneuver out of those uncomfortable situations. God doesn't expect you to work under conditions that you are entrapped. With His truth from His Word, He has placed you in a large room, free to teach His entire Word, and rely on every promise in His Word. Father has set you at liberty, and the freedom that we have in Christ. Psalms 31:9 "Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in trouble: Mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly." David has bad days in his life, just as we do. In those times of trouble David called out to the Lord in repentance and help. Psalms 31:10 "For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: My strength faileth Because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed." David sinned a great sin when he sent Bath-Sheba's husband into battle for the sake of killing him and taking his wife. That sin consumed much of David's thought and grief, for it took the life of one of his sons. Psalms 31:11 "I was a reproach among all mine enemies, But especially among my neighbors, and a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me." Though it is written here in the past tense, David is writing it in the present tense. David is saying that though his enemies fear him, even his neighbors and acquaintances don not want to be around me. David is saying that God's truth is the most important thing to him, and with it, nobody wants to associate with him. Today if you teach God's truth, very few will stick around and associate with you and be instructed by it. They will run from you, rather than be faced by the Truth. Psalms 31:12 "I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel." They look to me as they would a lost article that they just don't care if they ever find. Psalms 31:13 "For I have heard the slander of many: Fear was on every side: While they took counsel together against me, They devised to take away my life." David is telling it as it was to him, and it is no different today for those that seek to search for the truth, and to teach it. Sure they will talk behind your back and try in every way possible to keep you quiet from telling the truths from God's Word. Remember that in their ignorance, they are doing what they think is right. They believe in their minds that the first messiah that comes will be the true Messiah, and in doing so they will present themselves and worship the false Christ. When Satan come, he will present himself exactly as we expect The True Messiah to come. That is why their traditions will be so deceiving, because it will be a good counterfeit. For any counterfeit to be good, it must appear to be the real thing in all areas, in feel, sight and touch. It must look so much like the real thing that it can be passed off as the real thing. That false identity is call the "taking away, or snatching away" with its term, "the rapture". To by into it will cost you your eternal life, when you know better through the truth. Psalms 31:14 "But I trusted in Thee, O Lord: I said, "Thou art my God." Not some fake and "instead of God", but the YHVH "Yashuah", the Almighty Father. Psalms 31:15 "My times are in Thy hand: Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from then that persecute me." "My times" are all my affairs, all those things that I have done. Do you place all your affairs in God's hand, to lead and guide you in what you do? If you place your affairs into God's hand, He will deliver you from the snares and plots of your enemies, and those that seek harm to you. This is not a ticket to be lazy, for we are to continue to do the best that we can in all matters under our control. However you commit it all into our Heavenly Father's hand or control. Psalms 31:16 "Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant: Save me for Thy mercies' sake." In the Hebrew text, "for Thy mercies' sake" reads, "in thy loving kindness." This is a prayer in view of Psalms 20. Psalms 31:17 "Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon Thee: Let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave." "The grave" as spoken of here is "hell"[ Sheol]. When you accept that first messiah, this is exactly what happens, your soul is carried away by the "instead of Jesus", as recorded in Matthew 24:12-13; "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax could." [12] "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." [13] The end is at the sounding of the last trump, the seventh trump at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Most calling themselves Christians will be taken at the sounding of the sixth trumpet, for the oil [or truth] in their lamps [minds], simply will not simply will not give them the strength to endure to the end. Psalms 31:18 "Let the lying lips be put to silence; Which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous." These people, teachers and pastors that promote their rapture doctrines and other false teachings simply do not like the truth to be spoken. Sure these people will be put to silence, by that time will not be until after the sounding of the seventh trumpet, and our Lord's return. The Holy Spirit will keep your mind focused on the truth, and shed those wick thoughts of those deceived trying to send your way. Psalms 31:19 "Oh how great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee: Which Thou hast wroght for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men!" There is great goodness and rewards that are laid up for those that respect and revere the True Father. Though the traditions of me try to lead people astray, down paths leading away from God's Word and instruction, But we are to stay with the True Father, and keep our trust in the Him, for He is my God. Remember verse 14? "But I trusted in Thee, O Lord: I said, "Thou art my God." Psalms 31:20 "Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence from the pride of man: Thou shalt keep them secretly in the pavilion from the strife of tongues." "Pride" as used in this verse, would be better translated "conspiracy". Do you understand where the elect of God live in the Millennium age of Christ's kingdom, following the seventh trumpet? The Elect are the priests, the Zadok or judges of the millennium age. The are in a "pavilion" alone with Christ, while the rest of the souls are outside looking on. The choice is yours whether you are on the outside looking in, or inside doing the judging of those outside. The wedding date for the coming of the bridegroom Jesus Christ, to marry his bride His Church, the body of Christ. Many are just not ready for that wedding. They will be on the outside looking in. There will be two weddings; one on the day of the Lord, while the other will be at the close of the Millennium age. Psalms 31:21 "Blessed be the Lord: For He hath shewed me His marvellous kindness in a strong city." The "pavilion" for the "just" or Zadok is located in Jerusalem, inside the Millennium temple. That "strong city" has a strong wall, for our Lord Jesus Christ is the strong wall that protects His own in that city. At the end of the Millennium age of a thousand years, Satan will be released from the pit for a short season, and come against that strong city, and will be destroyed along with all those that are with him. Read Revelation 20:4-15 to see the protection that Jesus Christ gives to his elect during the Millennium age, and what shall happen to Satan and his followers at the end of the thousand year period, following the great white throne judgment. Once Satan attacks this strong city he will be completely destroyed for ever. Psalms 31:22 "For I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before Thine eyes: Nevertheless Thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto Thee." Don't ever do anything in haste, and sell our Father short. For our Heavenly Father will hear our cries for help and guidance. Though David fell to temptation at one time badly, yet he cried out to Father and He heard David and saved him. He will hear your cry also when you cry out to Him. Many times your flesh does waver, but thank God our faith is real and holding fast. Sure we will fall short from time to time, but our Father is real, and true to His Word. Psalms 31:23 "O love the Lord, all ye His saints: For the Lord preserveth the faithful, And plentifully rewardeth the proud doer." His servants are those that don't take pride in themselves, but take pride in serving Almighty God, and give all the glory to Him. Psalms 31:24 "Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, All ye that hope in the Lord." There is a condition written here for Almighty God to "strengthen your heart", your mind. That condition is that you "be of good courage". If you are going to be down on yourself all the time, how in the world do you expect God to strengthen your heart? God strengthens the hearts of those "can-doers", those that set their mind to follow the path as laid out in His Word, and continue to walk in that path. When you are of good courage, then He will touch your heart and mind and make something of you. Hope is the desire for something that is unseen, something that you know to be true, when there is nothing around you to encourage you that it will come to pass. We also call that hope "faith", for it requires an action on your part, based in the confidence that you have in your belief. Let that faith be strong. speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous." _____________________________________________________________________________ ©2005 http://www.theseason.org PLEASE NOTE:
