This Chapter is an address to the Father YHVH, from the Messiah, Jesus the Christ Yeshua. This is a prayer for a future time of trouble, and we can apply it ot ourselves also. This Chapter and the next, the 41st Psalm will end this series of the five books of the Psalms. This was explained at the beginning of this book, as Psalms was divided into five individual units. These five books of the Psalms carry the same five names in the Hebrew as the first five books of the Scriptures written by Moses. So the Psalms 42 will be the series of Chapters called the "Exodus" in the prophetic sense. David the author of Psalms was a prophet, and Acts 2 proves this.

Psalms 40:1 "I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined unto me, and heard my cry."

This is the key to anyone's prayer life, the waiting on the Lord and the patience to give our Lord to work in His appointed time. This has a lot to due with prayer being answered. Prayer is our line of communication between ourselves and our heavenly Father. The response should be at Father's time and place, for we know that Father always hears our prayer. If there is going to be a long delay in His answer to your prayer, Father will let you know. All prayer must be within our Father's will.

Psalms 40:2 "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."

Who establishes your goings, you or Father? If you rebel against the Father, He has his ways of getting your attention. The higher you become within the Christian community the more you become a slave to the multitude under you. And of course at the top of the list is our Lord Jesus Christ. This is why those in high position must be humble and willing to be completely lead by God, for you become a slave or servant to our Father who will plant you where He wants you to be, and and establishes the direction or work that He wants you to do. Father will not give you a task to do without giving you the gifts and wisdom and knowledge to get that job done.

Psalms 40:3 "And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, And shall trust in the Lord."

We say this "new song" back in Psalms 33:3; It is one of the two songs that the saints will sing as we enter into Millennium age of Christ's kingdom at the sounding of the seventh trump. This is told to us in Revelation 15:3, and called the "song of the Lamb" right along with the "Song of Moses". These songs tells us how we shall have the victory over Satan the Antichrist. Those words that are being sung in these songs are all written in the Scriptures, for they were our promises and direction to see us through this generation of the end times. The victors will be the ones, the first fruits that took those promises and had the reverence and trust to stake their lives on God's Word. The methods of Satan's operation during his time of the great deception are given in these two songs, as well as what God will be doing at the same time.

Psalms 40:4 "Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies."

The blessed person is the one that puts all his trust in the Lord. Sure you can trust that the check will come in the mail and that the business deal will go through, but for every event in your life, it is the Lord that will make it come to pass or block it from happening. Our end should be to keep focused on eternal life, and that requires a complete trust in the Lord. Those that are easily deceived will listen to everybody and then be blown about by ever wind of doctrine. That is why no matter who we listen to, the final authority for our direction as to what we do should be from our Father's Word. Our Father's Word was written to you to give you direction for your life. Don't turn aside by listening to lies.

Psalms 40:5 "Many, O Lord my God, are Thy wonderful works which Thou hast done, And thy thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be reckoned up in order unto Thee: If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered."

Our Heavenly Father's thoughts are of you and I and of the many wonderful works that shall be done in our lives. No man can even comprehend the many wonderful thoughts and things that our Father plans to send each of our way. However that is why we must stay in the Word, for that is how we come to know the Mind of our Lord.

Psalms 40:6 "Sacrifice and offering Thou didst not desire; Mine ears hast Thou opened: Burnt offering and sin offering hast Thou not required [continue sentence to next versel]"

It is so important that your spiritual ears are opened into your mind, so you can study and have understanding of the words you are reading. It is the Spirit of God and the grace of Jesus Christ on the cross that will reveal the truths of the Word daily, to where God can communicate directly with you. To open your hears means that there is no confusion in what you are reading.

God said, "I did not want your burnt offerings or your sin offerings, but I want you love." God wants your love returned to Him as He gives His love to you. Father does that through the pages of the Word of God. When Jesus Christ went to the cross, those daily sacrifices of the burnt offerings and sin offerings were taken away. Those offerings are what is called the "Daily oblation" in Daniel 9:27. "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,..." That daily oblation or burnt and sin offerings were replaced by Christ's sacrifice on the cross, and we do those oblations when we take communion, the bread and the cup representing Christ's body that took the stripes and his blood that was shed for the sacrifice for one and all times for those that would receive it.

When Satan the Antichrist is booted out of heaven and comes to this earth, many will cease to take the oblation, or communion, for they will be deceived in thinking that Satan is the true Christ. That is why Satan will confirm his covenant with the religious world, for they will believe by their traditions that Jesus is here on earth.

Psalms 40:7 "Then said I, "Lo, I come: In the volume of the book it is written of me,"

Psalms 40:8 "I delight to do Thy will, O my god: Yea, Thy law is within my heart."

Verses six through eight were quoted by Paul in Hebrews 10:5-9 in explaining why it was necessary for our Lord Jesus Christ to shed His blood and die on the cross. He had just said that "it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins."

Hebrews 10:5 "Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith, "Sacrific and offerings Thou wouldest not, but a body hast Thou prepared Me:"

Our Lord Jesus Christ became the sacrifice for all sin for one and all times, whereby the priest would not longer shed the blood of animals on any altar for sins of man.

Hebrews 10:6 "In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast had no pleasure."

Hebrews 10:7 "Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will O God."

Our Lord fulfilled the prophecies of the entire book, and when he was walking the streets in the flesh the people would come to Him and ask their questions, and He would answer, "Haven't you read, it is written." The events of our Lord's life were written in the Old Testament, and the prophecy that Jesus would come born of a virgin, and live the life that He did. All the events concerning and leading to his death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven are recorded a thousand years ahead of time. There was no secret as to who Christ was, or what He would do. It was written here in the Psalms, just as it was prophesied way back in Genesis 3:15 from the garden of Eden.

Genesis 3:15 "And I [YHVH Father] will put enmity between thee [Satan] and the woman [Eve], and between thy [Satan's] seed [the Kenites] and her seed [Jesus the Christ]. It [Christ] shall bruise thy [Satan's] head, and thou [Satan] shall bruise His [Christ's] heal."

That is exactly what happened when the Kenite religious leaders carried through with their murderous plot that ran the spikes through our Lord feet and hands. Was it a secret? It was told in detail written in the volume of the entire book.

Hebrews 10:8 "Above when He said, "Sacrifice and offering and burth offerings and offering for sin Thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein;" which are offered by the law;"

Hebrews 10:9 "Then said He, "Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God." He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second."

There can be no doubt when you follow the volume of the entire book that Jesus the Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, and died on the cross as prophesied years in advance, is the Messiah, the Anointed One. He was the son of David and the son of the Living God. This is why Jesus is the Living Word.

The law is given to us as a guide to live our lives by, and as long as we try not to break on of those laws, we can stay out of trouble. The commandments and the law is not bad but it is good, but it is the man or woman that breaks the law that is bad. Our flesh nature is what leads us to sin, and when we set within our minds the law, it gives us the guide lines for living our lives.

Psalms 40:9 "I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: Lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, Thou knowest."

Our Lord Jesus Christ did teach in the streets and synagogues, and out in the country side the whole volume of the book. This same teaching that Christ taught us, is taught even today as it is taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse, the whole volume of the book.

Psalms 40:10 "I have not hid Thy righteousness within my heart: I have declared Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation: I have not concealed Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth from the great congregation."

Our Lord is saying, I have not been selfish, but I have declared it all to you. The "great congregation has been building from the start of Christ's ministry, to the first day of the Millennium age of Jesus Christ's kingdom. Then every knee shall bow to Christ. The next time after the first day of the Millennium age that every knee shall bow to Christ will be in the eternity following the great white throne judgment, and many shall not make it, but will be blotted out of existence.

Psalms 40:11 "Withhold not Thou Thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: Let Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth continually preserve me.

Our Heavenly Father does have tender mercies for you, and that loving kindness is directed to all those that love him. The "truth" is what is written in God's Word, and those truths will preserve you for your entire life in the flesh and in the eternity. Only the blood of Christ, and your repentance in His name will preserve you for the eternity. That truth preserves your mind, and protects you from your enemies as you live daily. As we offer our prayers of ourselves and our loved ones, our Heavenly Father hears those prayers and gives protection and changes minds. There is power in the Word, and His Spirit and the truth of God's word preserves you.

Psalms 40:12 "For innumerable evils have compassed me about: Mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up: They are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me."

It just doesn't matter how many evils are around you, when you are compassed in His Word. When you take your eyes off the Lord and focus on your iniquities, that is the start of your troubles.

Psalms 40:13 "Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me."

When your flesh is weak and your mind is tired, that is the time to cry out to the Lord, and He will preserve thee.

Psalms 40:14 "Let them be ashamed and confounded together That seek after my soul to destroy it; Let them be driven backward and put to shame That wish me evil."

Notice that it is talking about your soul and not the flesh. The flesh will be done away with at death, but the soul is your eternal life. When others plan evil against you, and you call for the protection of the Holy Spirit, He will not withhold that protection.

Psalms 40:15 "Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, 'Aha, aha.' "

Psalms 40:16 "Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: Let such as love Thy salvation say continually, `The Lord be magnified.' "

The Lord should be magnified in your heart all the time of every day.

Psalms 40:17 "But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my God."

When you pray to the Lord, He hears every word of your prayer. He is there to help and preserve you through His Holy Spirit.
