Psalms 46 departs from the instructions to the sons of Korah, and looks upon "Alamoth", which means "virgins" in the Hebrew text. This chapter will be a song to those virgins that remained true to the end to our Lord Jesus Christ, right up to His coming at the sounding of the seventh trumpet. It is a song written to God's elect, those called the Zadok of the Millennium age of Christ's kingdom here on earth. These are the ones that will take part in that great wedding, and remained working in the field, focused on the work of the Lord to the very end. So this chapter is in reference to the teaching that Jesus gave in Matthew 25:1-13 of the ten virgins. That parable was given as a warning to his bride at the end times, as it followed Matthew 24 where Jesus gave the seven things to watch out for that would happen before his return. In that parable of the ten virgins, five were faithful to the very end, and five fell away because they did not have oil for their lamps. The were not ready when the call came to come into the wedding feast, and were reject in that last moment. The oil represents the truth from God's Word, warning us of the events of the end times so we would not be deceived, and the lamps of these ten virgins were their minds. The foolish virgins simply did not study the Word to know the truths and they were taken in the wrong wedding feast, they went with Satan, thinking he was the true Christ, and in their ignorance of God's Word, they were deceived. Paul told us in II Corinthians 11:1-3 that he wanted to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ, not beguiled as Eve was by Satan. In verse three beguiled is "exapatao" in the Greek, "being wholly seduced". In the spiritual sense, "deceived". Spiritually Paul wants to present the believers as a "chaste virgin" at the return of Christ. In Mathew 24:19 Jesus used this reference of a virgin in his warning to those living in the time of the end, "And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!" The warning is to the ten virgins, the elect, that they study to be prepared in the end times so they will not be deceived and taken in the wrong marriage. Five of those virgins will already be impregnated with the mark of the beast in their minds "foreheads". Spiritually impregnated by Satan. So it becomes essential that we learn the truths from God's Word concerning these days that we live in that we are not deceived. Revelation 9:4 "And it was commanded
them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any
green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not
the seal of God in their foreheads." So this chapter is written to those that have the eyes to see and the ears to hear, that will not be deceived Satan and his realm, and their rapture theory. You know the truth, and are on alert for false doctrines and teachings that go against the Word of God. You just did not do what was spoken of in Psalms 44:20; "If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange God." You did not bow to Satan in his role of the "instead of Christ", but remained true to the very end. Psalms 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. There is no other refuge and strength to His faithful virgins. He is our present help anytime anyone of us are in trouble. Get it, when trouble comes, He is there already to give you the help you need. This again is written to those that will remain true to Him, and a promise to you that you can rely upon. Psalms 46:2 "Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;" It simply doesn't matter what earthquakes come, volcanoes erupt, what nations fall, and what happens as the seals and trumpets of the end times sound, we know that our God will take care of us. Psalms 46:3 "Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof, Selah." Revelation 17:15 "And he saith unto me,
"The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are
peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." "Selah", again stop and take a moment to think on what has just been said. They remember that this connects that thought to what is about to be said. This Selah connects the noise of the crowd [roaring of the waters], with the silent flowing river in the rock-cut channel from beneath. It connects the boasting of the enemies of God of this generation with the secret purposes of God. There is no refrain, or "dropping out" here, as some suggest. Psalms 46:4 "There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High." This river that flows makes glad the city of God. The "City of God" is the "New Jerusalem", and that new city of Jerusalem does not come forth until after the return of our Lord Jesus Christ at the sounding of the seventh trumpet of the book of Revelation. God's elect are there, as written of in Ezekiel 40 to 48, and those streams of water comes from the very throne of Almighty God. It is the Spirit that will dwell in all people at that time. God's Spirit will give us that peace and stillness that can only come from Him. So this is talking about the first day of the Millennium age when Jesus Christ will set up His tabernacle right here on earth in the New Jerusalem, following the tribulation of Satan. The virgins are still going to be here on earth but they don't have to worry about the confusion and troubles that come over the earth. Why? Because each of them are in God's own hand, they are in a refuge protected against the confusion of this world age. They have God's protection, so why would any of them worry about anything. We are in that confusion, it is going on all around us today, stop, meditate, Selah, think, and don't worry, I am going to protect you. It will not be long that you will be in this mess, for I am taking you right on to my holy city. It is the only holy place where the tabernacles of the Most High will be, for that is where Jesus will establish his holy temple. Psalms 46:5 "God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early." This should read, "When the morning dawn, God shall help her [the virgins]." The dawn of this earth age was thousands of years ago, but the dawn of the Millennium age will be very shortly in the future, and the close of these end times. That "morning dawn" will start the first day of the Millennium age when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will be with us at that time, and that is why He is in the midst of us. Psalms 46:6 "The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered His voice, the earth melted." This is at the wrath of God when the kingdoms will all be removed, and the earth milted; it is at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, for all flesh shall be removed and changed instantly into their new incorruptible bodies. When all this happens, God's elect still have nothing to fear, for we are in God's protective hand. "Heathen" as used in this verse should read "nations", for God will remove all nations, and it will take place just after Jesus will cleanse the temple, the everlasting tabernacle in that Millennium age. Jesus gave this as a parable in the form of a "mustard seed", right after He took the whip and drove the money changers out of the temple. This is assuring those faithful virgins that even as the One World system takes control of the governments of this world, if you have the faith in the promises that Jesus gave us, this will come to pass. Psalms 46:7 "The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge, Selah." We are told to stop and meditate on what has just been said, of the destruction that will come on the earth with the full protection of our Heavenly Father, and of God's protection. "Selah", meditate on what has just been said; this connection assures confidence in God's promise with its fulfillment in the deliverance of Zion from Sennacherib historically; yet prophetically from Satan and his deception in these end times. Psalms 46:8 "Come, behold the works of the Lord, What desolations He hath make in the earth." Stop and look around you at the workings of the Lord, the hand of God in all nature, as well in your life. God can cleanse you life, just as He can cause the rain to fall to cleanse the earth. Psalms 46:9 "He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariot in the fire." The wars will cease when this earth age is over, for we will be in the new Millennium age of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is exactly how this earth age will end, as described in Ezekiel 38 and 39, when the armies of Russia come against us, and God showers them with huge hail stones. Ezekiel 39:2 "And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee [Russia and her confederacy] to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains [nations] of Israel:" Read on in the next 10 verses and see how God will cause the spear to be torn out of their hands in protection of His people. Sure we have to protect ourselves until this time nationally, but we will have the victory through Him at that time. All our blessings as a nation come from God. Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." It was not the purpose to destroy the nation to show off His great power, but the reason that God will do this is recorded in Ezekiel 39:21, 22; "And I will set My glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and My hand that I have laid upon them." "So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward." It is only by the power that God brings down upon them that causes the heathen to know that our Heavenly Father is God. That will be the only language that they understand. That is why God will do the destruction, and not some bomb or secret weapon in our arsenal. Why? Because our Father wants their love. Our Heavenly father is a loving God and He loves all his children. This all happens in the last moments of this earth age, then all human flesh is done away with, and all flesh is changed into their incorruptible bodies as the angels have. We are entered into that new earth age of Christ's kingdom. The all souls will bow and worship our Lord Jesus Christ. There will be no death at that moment, only the changing of these flesh bodies into its new lasting forms for the next thousand year period. This was the mystery that Paul spoke of in I Corinthians 15:50-54; and that instant in time was at the seventh and last trump. Then all flesh shall change, not die, but be ushered into the new age of Christ's kingdom, right here on earth. Psalms 46:11 "The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah." "To the chief Musician." So this "Selah" connects this
Psalm with the next Psalms of 47 and 48. We will see that this
Psalm and others, all three are referring to the same events. ____________________________________________________________________________ ©2005 http://www.theseason.org PLEASE NOTE:
