THE PSALMS Chapter 63 "Israel's Redemption Waited For." This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from it's author R. Christopherson "A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah." Thus this was a Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness, it is also a prophetic Psalm. Redemption waited for are for those people that put their faith in Jesus Christ. Psalms 63:1 "O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee: My soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;" There can be no doubt that David put his complete trust in God. Historically this is true for David sought the Lord at a very young age, and while in the wilderness running from Saul, he was in a dry and thirsty land. However lets look at this on another level, in the spiritual sense. Lets apply this chapter to our present day when we are waiting for our Redemption, for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Stop for a moment and look at not only our land but the entire world at how thirsty it is as far as the truth from God's Word. Sure there are a lot of religious programming, but what percent is teaching the Word of God? Most are trying to draw you into their traditions and doctrine which in most cases goes against the Word of God. It is not God's Word, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse, but some traditions set forth by a man within their denomination. Unfortunately, our land is thirsty. Amos 8:11 "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:" We are in the latter days, and this verse of prophecy has come true. There is plenty of bread for everyone, and if you are down and out, there are places to go for food. However, the hunger and thirst is for the Word of God, and it just is not being taught. The famine is for the bread of life, which is Jesus Christ, for He is the Word. "He is the word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us." That famine is going on now, and it is for hearing the true world of God. Psalms 63:2 "To see Thy power and Thy glory, So as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary." David looks back to prior times and the Glory of God that was in that sanctuary of God. That Tabernacle of God that was carried along with the people of the children of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness. David was now on the run in that same wilderness, and his mind sought that same glory that existed then. Psalms 63:3 "Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise Thee." "Thy lovingkindness" Is the glory and grace and mercies of God that he has shown to all those that love and follow Him. Focus on this my friend; when you think of God's glory and kindness to you, don't forget to praise Him with your lips, and tell Him that you love Him. When you mess up, confess it to Him and ask His forgiveness in Jesus' name, He loves you and understands your weaknesses. Psalms 63:4 "Thus will I bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name." When you seek to praise the Lord, we lift up our hands in Thy name, YHVH's name, the name of our heavenly Father. Appendix 60 in the Companion Bible points out in four Acrostics in detail the true name of God, being YHVH, and how it was hidden in the writing of the book of Esther. We will include this at the close of this chapter. Psalms 63:5 "My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips:" David is telling the Lord, that not only will I tell you that I love you Father, but I do it with joy in my heart. That is how we ought to praise Him, with a joyful heart. Even while David was on the run trying to keep a step ahead of Saul and his men, he knew that God was with him, and that is why he had a joyful heart. Just as manna fell from the heavens to feed the Children of Israel in the wilderness, there is spiritual manna coming from the Holy Spirit as He opens those eyes that seek the truth from all of God's Word, preparing us for the coming of Antichrist. Giving us the oil or truth sufficient to sustain us during that time when truth of God's Word is void from the face of the earth. Psalms 63:6 "When I remember Thee upon my bed, And meditate on Thee in the night watches." I remember My Lord when I get up, in the morning, and even before I drop off to sleep at night. There were three night watches each night as David and his men were on the run for their lives. Even during those night watches David would meditate on our Heavenly Father and His love for us. We do this same thing as we lay in our beds and think of the Lord and the blessings Father has given to us. Psalms 63:7 "Because Thou hast been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice." There is no better place to be than in the shadow of God's wings of protection. That is the perfect place to rejoice and remember Him. That wing is there to give you protection. We are given God's promise of His protection under those wings of his in Deuteronomy 32, that song of Moses that those that over come will sing at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Psalms 63:8 "My soul followeth hard after Thee: Thy right hand upholdeth me." Our Heavenly Father will hold you up when you are down and in trouble, and He is able to uphold me through all conflict. Psalms 63:9 "But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, Shall go into the lower parts of the earth." Notice that this is addressing "those that seek my soul, to destroy it," they are the ones that shall go into the lower parts of the earth. Today there are very skilled teachers that know how to twist the Word to make it sound so true and good with their traditions of men and false doctrine. God has a special place for each of them, as they plant seeds of deception in the minds of God's Children. That "lower parts", means "to hell". They and their father Satan, wants your soul, not your flesh body. Psalms 63:10 "They shall fall by the sword: The shall be a portion for foxes." "Foxes" as given here are "jackals". The sword that these wicked ones will fall by is the sword of the Lord, the Word of God that came from the mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was spoken through the lips of the prophets and apostles, and even His own mouth when He was here on earth in the flesh. Revelation 1:16 tells us that Christ's tongue is a sharp two edged sword, cutting both ways. A lie simply cannot exist before it. Psalms 63:11 "But the king shall rejoice in God; Every one that sweareth by Him shall glory: But the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. " There is an end that will bring this all to a close and that time is not far off. The deception that lies that are going on now will be stopped. Those that take pleasure in deceiving people will not be able to speak at the coming of our Lord, because all souls will be in their spiritual bodies as the angels have, with full understand. Each soul will then see right through those lies that are now being told, and know the truth. We know that today most of the lies that are told pertaining to our Lord and His return are told in ignorance for God has closed their eyes, for the sake of that soul, but each of them shall be accountable of what they have done in teaching others to follow them to the Antichrist Satan. As we continue in the Psalms, these times and sequences of the end times will be given. _______________________________________________________________________________________
