This Psalm was written to bring to remembrance those things that are written in Psalm 40:13-17. It is written here to complete the structure of this second book of the Psalms that includes Psalms chapters 41 through 72. Psalms 40 dealt with the redemption.

Psalms 70:1 "Make haste, O God, to deliver me; Make haste to help me, O Lord."

"Make haste", in other words, "remember" to rescue and redeem me. In Psalms 40:13 "Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me."

Psalms 70:2 "Let them be ashamed and confounded That seek after my soul: Let them be truned backward, and put to confusion, That desire my hurt."

Let those that try to destroy my spiritual soul, let them be ashamed and confounded. This is why "atheism" is so dangerous in the world today. It attacks not your physical body, but your very soul. Those of the atheism world would murder the souls of the Christians if it were possible, but it isn't. In Christ We have the victory. That is why it is important for us to stand up and act like Christians.

Psalms 70:3 "Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame That say, "Aha, aha."

For all those that would scoff and make light of God's Word, and those that hold that world dear, God will give them their just reward. In due time, at the coming of our Lord all of them will be put to shame.

Psalms 40:14, 15 "Let them be ashamed and confounded together That seek after my soul to destroy it; Let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil." [14] "Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame That say unto me, `aha, aha'." [15]

Psalms 70:4 "Let those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: And let such as love Thy salvation say continually, "Let God be magnified." "

This now looks that those that Love the Lord and seek to please Him and rejoice and be glad in Christ. We can always seek the Lord, no matter what form of scoffing takes place. If you love the Lord, this should be on your lips continually, "Let God be magnified" in my life. God will be magnified to the point in due time that His presence will be here on this earth in person.

Psalms 70:5 "But I am poor and needy: Make haste unto me, O God: Thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying."

This is a second witness to Psalms 40:17; "But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; Make no tarrying, O my god."  This prayer is to bring into remembrance the speedy return of our Lord to this earth. That time will come and it will be soon, for we are in that last generation. Today we have the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom leads us and directs our moves while here in these flesh bodies. It is through the Holy Spirit that we have the patience to wait for Christ's return, for all those that believe on His name.
