THE PSALMS

Chapter 71

"Israel's Redeemer. Praise Promised."

This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from it's author R. Christopherson

As we read at the beginning of this second section of the book of Psalms, The second volume of section contains the chapters 42-72, and this chapter and the next will complete the section that deals and coincides with Exodus, here in the Psalms. The book of Exodus written by Moses, was of the Children of Israel coming out of Captivity from Egypt. So expect these last two books of this section, 71 and 72 to bring you also out of the captivity in the prophetic sense, and into the Millennium age. Pay attention to the details of this chapter, to see how these word can comfort you in these end times. These things shall come to pass before this earth age ends, which is not far off, for we are in the final generation.

Psalms 71:1 "In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: Let me never be put to confusion."

The Lord had better be your shelter and refuge. This should be your prayer in these end times. "Confusion" in the Hebrew tongue in these end times is "Babel" or Babylon. The god of Babylon is Baal, which is Satan the Antichrist. If you allow God to be your refuge and you stay focused on the true Christ, you will not worship Satan. The only way out of any confusion, is by learning the truth, the facts of the confusion, and then there is no confusion. Our knowledge of the truth comes only from God's Word, and we get it when we study God's word and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal those truths to us. The truth will always set you free from anxiety and confusion.

Psalms 71:2 "Deliver me in Thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: Incline Thine ear unto me, and save me."

Once the Holy Spirit is within you, and you are in Christ, God has delivered you into His righteousness.

Psalms 71:3 "Be Thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: Thou hast given commandment to save me; for Thou art my rock and my fortress."

This " strong habitation" is "zur" in the Hebrew text. In some early translation is was "my rock of refuge". Jesus Christ is my Rock, and make sure you don't take the fake, "tyre" as your rock, for that rock is Satan. Ezekiel 28 lets us know that the Tyre, or false rock is coming first, and that false Christ will deceive the entire world. Read Ezekiel 28 and learn all about the false rock, and those that have the victory from that false rock, and endure to the end, will sing that song of victory as spoken of in Revelation 15:3. That song of Moses is written in Deuteronomy 32:1-43. There it tells of the two rocks, and it declares boldly that their rock is not our Rock. This takes place just before the day of vengeance that ends this earth age.

Your "fortress" is the place where you build your home, and the strength of your home is based on the ground of the foundation that is under it. Jesus warned us not to build our house on the sand. For when the storm and wrath come, your house will be washed away. We are to build our spiritual habitation on the Rock, and that Rock is Jesus Christ. Build it on the truth of God that comes only from the Word of God.

Psalms 71:4 "Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man."

The "wicked" is the "lawless one, which is to say, Satan. God will deliver you out of the hand of Satan, and it is done by and through your knowledge of the truth from God's Word. There is only one that fits the bill of the unrighteous and cruel man, that is spoken of here, and he is talked about in Isaiah 14, His name is Lucifer. In the Millennium age, people will see Satan, Lucifer of any of the names that cover the roles that he has played, and they will wonder why they were so stupid to follow such a man, and believe that he was God. They will ask themselves; "is this the man that deceived the world?" This is the cruel and wicked man that God will deliver you from. Remember that this chapter is the coming out of the Exodus, and into the promise land of truth and freedom.

Psalms 71:5 "For Thou art my hope, O Lord God: Thou art my trust from my youth."

Psalms 71:6 "By Thee have I been holden up from the womb: Thou art He That took me out of my mother's bowels: My praise shall be continually of Thee."

To us in this world age, birth is a very natural thing. However God is supernatural, that is more natural. It was God that placed that soul into the little embryo within its mother's body, and allowed that embryo to grow into the person that you became. God is your true Father, and praise Him continually for the life that He has given to you. that is the only acceptable sacrifice that He expects from you. Let your hope be in Christ, for that is the only security that you can ever depend completely upon.

Psalms 71:7 "I am as a wonder unto many; But Thou art my strong refuge."

This should read, "I have become a wonder to many". That is what will happen in time when the world's eyes are opened. When we do things and live our lives God's way, He will our refuge and strength. His word teaches us how to do our work and toil, and as we earn our living, we should be mindful of God's blessings to us.

Psalms 71:8 "Let my mouth be filled with Thy praise And with Thy honour all the day."

What comes out of our mouths starts in our minds, and that is where our praise and honor to God should be continually.

Psalms 71:9 "Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth."

When I am old and gray headed, allow me to continually be of service to you Lord. When the power of our flesh fails, that is when the power of God strengthens us. The point to this verse is that God doesn't use the power of your flesh to work His great works, for our battle in this final generation is not against flesh and blood, but against unforeseen powers.

Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might."

Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

We are living in the final generation, for that final generation started at the planting of the fig tree in Jerusalem. That time was when the Jews, good and bad, brother Judah, and Kenites returned to establish that tiny nation of Israel that now controls the gates of Jerusalem. That is why Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:32, 33; "Now learn the parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." Then Jesus gave a warning to our generation;

Matthew 24:34 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."

Every prophecy in the entire scripture that relates things that shall happen in this age of the flesh will have taken place before our generation dies off. The generation spoken of here was born when "the fig tree was planted"; when the good and bad figs [Kenites] returned to establish that nation of Israel. This is the reason that each of God's elect must be completely prepared and ready to stand in our life time, because we will see Satan and all his fallen angels arrive on this earth, and the entire population of earth worship him as God. That time is not far, as we are now in the fifth trumpet, and the sounding of the sixth is Satan's arrival. That is why you must prepare for a spiritual battle because the war we face is not fought with guns and planes, but with words and ideas. Ideas that sound so good that even most Christians will accept them and Satan as their christ, their messiah.

Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Ephesians 6:13 "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Friend, this is spiritual war that we are entering, and Satan will use things that look and sound so good, that they will be accepted without question. Why, because people will be prepared to accept them by the traditions that they have accepted. Daniel warned us of this in Daniel 8:23-25. Lets look at it for a moment.

Daniel 8:23 "And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up."

This "king of fierce countenance" is Satan. The time that he shall come and take his stand is after the sixth trump sounds, that time when Michael boots him out of heaven.

Daniel 8:24 "And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy mighty and holy people."

Remember that what he does is done because God allowed him to do it. Revelation 9:4, 5 tell us that those not sealed with the truth in their foreheads, or minds, will be turned over to Satan to do these things to them. So how does he "destroy wonderfully"? By lies and deception. By his Kenites preparing the way for him through their four hidden dynasties [economics, education, politics and most of all, Religion]. That is how the "holy people are destroyed, by their accepting false teachings, and doctrine that goes against the word of God, like the rapture doctrine.

Daniel 8:25 "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand."

The policy of any company or government sets the limits that they will function. It sets the groweth, the buying and selling rules, it sets what the people within that organization can and can not do. Satan will make it so that if you are within his system, you will prosper, and in return, you will magnify Satan by the things you do and say. Satan will be an environmentalist, he will take care of the sick and elderly, and he will guarantee peace throughout his kingdom to those that follow his policy, and stand up on his side. That time is coming very shortly.

"Satan shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;" and that "Prince" is Jesus Christ at His return to this earth. The time of that stand will be at the seventh trumpet, and then this earth age of the flesh will be all over. Satan will lose, as well as every soul that accepted the terms of Satan's policy and took his name and number. When Satan declares himself to be God, as in Daniel 9:27, that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15, all but those sealed of God, will will accept him as God, and they will have given their eternal crowns to the feet of Satan.

Psalms 71:10 "For mine enemies speak against me; And they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, ,"

The deceivers, the Kenites, and all those of that religious system that have accepted the traditions of men and false doctrines will all work together to do what they do. They come together in their great halls, and meetings to get as many as will listen to receive their traditions and doctrines. The split in these end times amongst the Christians will be based upon the rapture theory. The dividing line is whether you believe it or not. It is true that all Christians shall gather back to Christ, however that gathering shall be in His time, not out of sequential order. the sixth trump must come before the seventh. God has revealed to clearly when His time is, and if you vary from that time; you will worship Satan, the Antichrist. You will accept his policies, name and number, and bow to him at the time of the "abomination of desolation", spoken of by Jesus.

As the deceivers shout out their lies and deception, stand on the Word, and learn those things that must happen. Shod your feet with the armor of the "gospel of peace". Know where you are going, and why you should stay away from other places. Put the shield of faith in your mind to where you can see a lie for what it is. Know how to see truth from a lie, for if you cannot back up something with the word, that don't accept it. Then take on that Helmet of salvation, that only comes from the Holy Spirit, it is the understanding of God's holy Word and comes when God's Spirit opens your mind to the understanding of those things that must happen in these end times. Only the Spirit of God can give you the discernment to fight off these fiery evil darts of Satan's lies. Do not let it shake you, stand on the Rock.

Psalms 71:11 "Saying, "God hath forsaken him: Persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him."

In other words, they are saying, "you don't know what you are talking about, we will be gone, raptured out of here when those events of the end times happen." They have so deceived themselves into thinking their own false doctrines are true. They set the standards for their unforgivable sins, and then they try to convince you that those lies are truth. They will accuse those that teach the truth of God's Word as doing the work of Satan. They will make good bad, and bad good. They will present sodomy as something godly and accepted, and yet condemn other teachers for calling sodomy the perversion that it is. There is only one way to know the truth, and that come from studying God's Word. Stop listening to dribblers, and make your own mind up. Judgment day is coming and it is not far away. There will be both a true Christ and a false Christ coming, only the false Christ will come first. You will not see the true Christ in your flesh body, for at the sounding of the last trumpet, all flesh will be changed instantly into their incorruptible bodies, as the angels have.

I Corinthians 15:50 "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption."

These flesh and blood bodies will not exist in Christ's kingdom here on earth after the sounding of the seventh trumpet. Remember that Incorruption is as the angels exist, and corruption is these flesh bodies.

I Corinthians 15:51 "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,"

This is a mystery that Paul is revealing to those with eyes to see and ears to here the truth. That mystery is that at a certain point in them, all flesh shall be changed, and everyone living at that time will be changed into their spiritual bodies for the age to come, the age of Christ's kingdom here on earth.

I Corinthians 15:52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

Did you get it, at the sounding of the last, the seventh trump, that is the time that the change comes, that is the time of the gather back to Christ of all those that were faithful to Him, and that is also the time when those Christians that worshipped Satan after the sixth trump as the Christ, will still have mortal liable to die souls.

I Corinthians 15:53 "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

This will happen and you can count on it. When someone comes to you and says that Christ is living in Jerusalem and you are still living in your flesh body, that that is a lie, for God's word says it is a lie. This change will come but it will be at the last trump, instantly, then the True Christ, Jesus the true Messiah will set His feet on Mount Zion, and His kingdom will exist for the next thousand years. You have to choose which of these supernatural beings, Satan, the first to arrive, or Christ at the very end of this earth age that you will bow to.

Psalms 71:12 "O God, be not far from me: O my god, make haste for my help."

With all the things of the end times, do ever be afraid to cry out to God and praise Him for the help that he gives you. Just ask Him for His help and He will give it to you.

Psalms 71:13 "Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt."

Let them be confused and defeated that would teach against the truth of God's Holy Word. Let them be dishonored that would seek harm to God's elect, that remnant that will make a stand in the end times.

Psalms 71:14 "But I will hope continually, And will yet praise Thee more and more."

This hope in the return of our Lord Jesus Christ will continually build as we praise our Lord, and watch patiently for His return. That hope is underlined as we witness in our life time all the prophecies of these end times being fulfilled right before our eyes. Remember in verse 12, he prayed for help, and in hast in giving it. In verse 13, he asked for protection from his enemies, and now in verse 14 he follows up with praise for the hope that he has, because he know that God will keep His promise and give that protection. This means that he, David, was a believer, and there was substance to his belief and the hope that he had in God. This was more than just a canned speech because it came from his soul, his words expressed those thoughts that were on his heart and mind. David knew from his studies what pleased God, and what it was that he was to sacrifice to God. Today our sacrifice is in our love for God. Have you told Father that you love him lately, and meant it? Have you thanked Him for those blessings that He has given you, for as you do, they will continue to come to you. We should praise Him more and more, for He will never let us be ashamed. When you know God's Word is right, there is no need to be ashamed, for there is only pity for those that do not understand the truths written in God's Word.

Psalms 71:15 "My mouth shall shew forth Thy righteousness And Thy salvation all the day; For I know not the numbers thereof."

We should continually talk about the good news of God's Word, and tell others of God's love and greatness. Tell them of those things that God has done in your life. This is saying that, I could not begin to tell of the blessings of the things that you have done for me; those problems that didn't happen because you changed men's minds, of those accidents that could have happened, but didn't because you cleared the path. I could not tell of all the other blessings that came my way simply because by following your work, kept me out of those places where the enemy that seeks to harm and disgrace me exists. Though many Christians today complain of the little things that didn't go their way, if they talked all day long, they could not include all the blessings that did go their way. Even the rain that fell in the distant lands, that provided the food that sits on your table that you partake of daily. There is no way that you can number the deeds of blessing that our Heavenly Father has done for His people.

Psalms 40:5 "Many, O Lord my God, are Thy wonderful works which Thou hast done, And Thy thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be reckoned up in order unto Thee: If I would declare and speak of them. They are more than can be numbered."

These thoughts are by the Creator has, concerning each of us. No man know know exactly what God has planned and done to protect him or her, but those things and blessings that God has given to each of us are more than can be numbered. God is so good to us, yet many say, "God has never do anything for me." This shows that they just don't know our Heavenly Father or His Word. Those things that God has done for you doesn't just include the spiritual, but take in the natural also. The defenses that God built into your body to protect it from disease and harm, as well as the systems within your body to allow you to think, and your blood to flow. All the natural things on this earth that protect us, and even in keeping the universe in order so we on this earth are protected from the other heavenly bodies floating around in space.

Psalms 71:16 "I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of Thy righteousness, even of Thine only."

I am going to keep repeating your deeds over and over. Most of the people that talk about the Word of God, center on their own deeds, rather than God's deeds. What any man does is just not important, but what our Heavenly Father does is important.

Psalms 71:17 "O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth: And hitherto have I declared Thy wondrous works."

Lord, I have tried to share your wondrous works even from my youth. The focus on where the praise goes is not on ourselves, but to the Father and Jesus Christ for His wondrous works.

Psalms 71:18 "Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, forsake me not; Until I have shewed Thy strength unto this generation, And Thy power to every one that is to come."

Let us write these great works and secure those great works in our minds, and repeat it to the next generation and to everyone we come in contact with. This is a continuous thing and goes on as long as you have breath in your body. If you are on an ego trip, this should take you off that trip and down to earth as to where the center of your praise and attention ought to be.

Psalms 71:19 "Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, Who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto Thee!"

This question should be easy, for there is no one who is like unto Thee. NO ONE! We have only one "Good Shepherd" and He is Jesus Christ. John 10:14, 15 "I am the good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep." Jesus was the only person that was sinless and could fulfill those great things at the cross of Christ. He is the only perfect sacrifice that could be slain for our sins. When we come to the Father, in repentance and confess our sins to Him, we take on Jesus Christ's righteousness before the throne of God in heaven, for it is Christ's righteousness that allows us to petition the Father. That is why we must pray "in Jesus' name" for that is the only name under heaven whereby we can be saved and have eternal life. Then Jesus becomes our advocate at the throne of God, and that allows you to go straight to the Father in Jesus' name.

John 10:7-9 "Then said Jesus unto them again, "verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

As we prayed at the beginning of this Psalm, you had better put your trust in the Good Shepherd Jesus Christ.

Psalms 71:20 "Thou, Which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, Shalt quicken me again, And shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth."

The Lord has witnessed all those hard times that you and I have been through, and even has had to do come correcting at times to straighten me out. I have the faith to know that you will continue to lead me in the right paths of righteousness. Isn't that comforting to know that He cares so much for each of us? It is so comforting to know that even in death, God will reach down and take your soul instantly to Himself. The grave simply cannot hold your soul.

Ecclesiastes 12:6, 7 "Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern." [6] "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it." [7]

The moment that the silver cord of life that ties your soul to your physical body is broken, or the pitcher that holds life within your physical body is gone, then instantly your spirit, that intellect of your soul, returns to the Father. It was the Father that placed your soul and spirit into the embryo of your body, at the time of conception within your mother's womb. And the instant that your physical body looses its life, God reaches down and takes your soul back to His presence. This is a promise from God to you individually, and one that each of us look forward to in our lives, that time when we are with the Father and go to receive the rewards from this life in the flesh.

Keep in mind that this verse 20 was written prior to the crucifixion, and after the crucifixion, no soul and returns to the grave, but returns to our Heavenly Father. All this physical body is, is the earth that it is made of, and at death this physical body is over and done with. It decays back to dust it is composed of or is turned to ashes in the cremation process, which ends all use of it forever. Any belief that gives value to the physical body after death, is of the devil, and not of God, for only our soul and spirit are eternal, or live in the Millennium age to face judgment and the second death after that thousand years of Christ's kingdom here on earth. This is what Revelation 20 is all about.

The real you is not the flesh and blood that can be viewed in the flesh, but is made up of your soul and spirit which is eternal, of another dimension, that shall live for ever when you have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, and are one of His sheep. The earth cannot hold you, and neither can this flesh hold us.

Psalms 71:21 "Thou shalt increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side."

Our Heavenly Father know each of your needs and those things that would harm you, and He will comfort you in all your problems in this physical life. The more you teach others of the truths of His Word, the greater shall be your greatness in the eyes of the Lord.

Psalms 71:22 "I will also praise Thee with the psaltery, Even Thy truth, O my God: Unto Thee will I sing with the harp, O Thou Holy One of Israel."

This is to praise God with instruments as will as with your voice in singing.

Psalms 71:23 "My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto Thee; And my soul, which Thou hast redeemed."

Notice that the redeeming is in the past tense, it was done at the cross, as the blood of Christ flowed from his flesh body. Every time we break bread, and take the cup in communion, we take it in remembrance of that time when Jesus' blood redeemed each soul that would repent of their sins in His name, through His sacrifice on the cross.

Psalms 71:24 "My tongue also shall talk of Thy righteousness all the day long: For they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt."

Those that will be deceived by listening to the traditions of men, let them go their way; but let those that believe on His name come home to the Rock. Jesus Christ is the Rock of our salvation. In these final days of this earth age, let each of build the foundation for our lives on the Rock Jesus Christ. He loves you and wants you to want Him, but it is your personal choice, and nobody can make that decision for you.
