THE PSALMS Chapter 89 "Instruction as to Blessing in the Sanctuary. [1-4]" "Praise for YHVH's Faithfulness. [5-18]" "Ethan reminds YHVH of His Covenant with David. [19-37]" "Ethan Deplores the Divine Visitation. [38-51]" "Expostulation; Reminder. [46-51" This Bible Study is is provided by http://www.theseason.org/ and shared with permission from it's author R. Christopherson "Psalms 89 is "Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite." "Maschil" means "Instruction" and this is the instruction from Ethan, the sons of Ezra. Ezra means enduring. This Psalms will be the last Psalm of this third book of Psalms, and addressed while in the Sanctuary. This Sanctuary we are speaking of will be the home of the elect, and that makes it important to us. Psalms 89:1 "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: With my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness [Truth] to all generations." This is telling us: "I will tell the story of God's plan for ever". We have always had a remnant that have had eyes to see the truth, in every generation down to this final generation. There have been those few that have had the knowledge to take the truth to the world. The remnant has sung that perfect plan of God to those with ears to hear the truth. "Faithfulness" in the Hebrew text is "truth". The remnant have brought the truth of God's Word to those that would listen, and were faithful to the truth of God's Word. Psalms 89:2 "For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up for ever: Thy faithfulness shalt Thou establish in the very heavens." In this verse we see the mercy of God for ever. In the first verse God established truth, and in the second, Mercy. The words of Ethan are reminding Jehovah of that mercy that is within His covenant with David. Psalms 89:3 "I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant," And here in the third verse is the reminder of that covenant that God made with David. That Covenant is given in 2 Samuel 7:13 and is an unconditional Covenant. "He shall build an house for My name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever." 2 Samuel 7:14 "I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:" 2 Samuel 7:15 "But My mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee." 2 Samuel 7:16 "And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: Thy throne shall be established for ever. ' ' " Psalms 89:4 "Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah." This again is talking about David's seed, his children, and the throne that rule over Israel. This promise has a two fold meaning for not only will the throne be continuous forever, but one of the bloodline of David would sit on that throne and rule as king over the house of Israel. This is a promise that God made with David, and it was unconditional. Is this talking about Christ? or is this a throne that exists even today? Se we see that we have the four parts of the covenant that God made with David, TRUTH, MERCY, COVENANT, and now SEED. Psalms 89:5 "And the heavens shall praise Thy wonders, O Lord: Thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints." God's faithfulness will be spoken in the congregation of His election, or holy ones. Psalms 89:6 "For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty men can be compared unto the Lord?" There is no one or thing that can be compared with our Heavenly Father. The sons of the mighty are the angels, and not even an angel can be compared to our heavenly Father and His son Jesus the Christ. Not even Gabriel or Michael can be compared. Psalms 89:7 "God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be had in reverence of all them that are about Him." God's control is not only over the earth and the people living on it, but he has complete control over heaven, and those that reside in it. He is the maker and creator of the universe, and all that is within it. Those saints that have died and gone to be in the presence of the Lord give continual reverence to Him there. Psalms 89:8 "O Lord God of hosts, Who is strong Lord, like unto Thee? Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?" Lets look at this as it was written in the Hebrew text as to the titles of our Heavenly Father. "O YHVH, El of hosts [referring to the host of angels of heaven]; Who is a strong Yah unto Thee, or to Thy Faithfulness round about Thee?" Of course, no person and no thing. Psalms 89:9 "Thou rulest the raging of the sea: When the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them." Our Heavenly Father controls even the raging sea, and can control the force of its high and powerful waves. At a word from our Lord, the seas are made calm. This is the God that we pray toand serve, and our heavenly Father that we are talking about here; and he controls everything. God has that power, and when you are His child He is there to take care of you and your needs. He is our protection, and you can't get any better protection than that. Psalms 89:10 "Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; Thou hast shattered Thine enemies with Thy strong arm." "Rehab" is a political word for Egypt, however in the prophetic sense it is oneworldism. We are looking at the Millennium here, and at that time Our Lord Jesus Christ will have broken the Kenites, and Satan's religious rule in that one world government. The earth age as we know it now will be over and done with. This is looking back from the Sanctuary into this earth age of the flesh. "Rehab" holds the political name that includes things as pride, filthiness, unfaithfulness and all the other things that go along with that one world system that Satan will rule over. The day that Jesus will come and "shatter Thine enemies" is at the sounding of the seventh and last trumpet. Then on that day the battle of Hammongog of Ezekiel 38 and 38 will take place. The battle of Armageddon, and the destruction of Satan sitting on his throne in Jerusalem will end. This earth and all the souls living in their flesh body will be changed instantly and enter into the Millennium age of Jesus Christ's kingdom that will exist right here on earth. We will be living then in our spiritual, incorruptible bodies for the next thousand years right here on earth. Those faithful to the end of this flesh age will receive their rewards, and reign with Christ, and those not faithful to the end will be judged by their works in the Millennium age at the Great white throne judgment, at the close of that thousand year period. What a time of rejoicing for the faithful. Psalms 89:11 "The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine: As for the world and the fulness thereof, Thou hast founded them." God has created all the heavens as well as this earth and all that are in and on them. Remember that the promises that God made to David, the truth, the mercy, the covenant and the seed are all continued into the eternity. That covenant is eternal. We will get deeper into these promises later in this chapter, but consider the day and time we live in today. That throne exists today right here on this earth, and the lineage of the kings of England, as well as all the other kingdoms of Caucasian peoples of the earth can be traced right back to David, that is why the British take such pride and carefulness in selecting the person that will sit on the throne over them. The first duty of that royalty is "the defender of the faith" of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the church and of that throne. God is true to His Word. Lets review verse 29 at this time, and we will study it later. Verse 29 "His seed also will I make to endure for ever, And his throne as the days of heaven." Not only the throne that is in heaven, but David's throne that is of this earth. It will be Jesus Christ that shall come and sit on that throne, who will take His rightful place on that eternal throne during the Millennium period, and on into the eternity following the great white throne judgment. verse 30-34 "If his children forsake My law, And walk not in My judgments; if they break My statutes, And keep not My commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with a rod, And their iniquity with stripes." So we will see that there a promise from God that when they do not follow the ways of Truth from His Word, God will correct those nations made up from the tribes of Israel with His rod, to bring them back to Himself. David's seed does honor our Heavenly Father to this day. God promised that there would be a throne on earth as well as heaven. Jesus the Christ of course, is the son of David, through the Virgin Mary, and he sits on that throne in heaven, to the right of our Heavenly Father. Psalms 89:12 "The north and the south Thou hast created them: Tabor and Harmon shall rejoice in Thy name." From the north pole to the south pole on the face of this earth, God has created it all. Though this Tabor and Harmon are mountains, in reference they are considered the east and the west of the Holy city Jerusalem, so we are talking about all the directions of the compass. A time is coming when this entire earth and all that is living on it will rejoice in our Lord Jesus Christ. That time of course is at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, when Jesus shall return, and all living souls on the face of the earth will be changed instantly into their new incorruptible bodies. Then every knee shall bow as they look upon our Savior, Jesus Christ. Psalms 89:13 "Thou hast a mighty arm: Strong is Thy hand, and high is thy right hand." Jesus the Christ, Yahshua the Messiah sits on that throne in heaven now, at the right hand of the Father, but that office of the Godhead will return and establish this eternal throne of David right here on earth. Psalms 89:14 "Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne: Mercy and truth shall go before Thy face." Justice is the keeping of the truths of God's Word, and judgment shows God's righteousness. These two make up the foundation of the throne of God. That throne of God is eternal, and from that throne, mercy and truth go out to those that believe and receive it, and follow those truths that God has laid out within His Holy Word. Psalms 89:15 "Blessed is the People that know the joyful sound: They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance." That "Joyful sound" is the sound of the trumpet that sounds to assemble all the people. That trumpet is the seventh and last trump, and sounds the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to this earth. This is where he shall reign as the "King of Kings and the Lord of Lords" for ever. This is the trump Paul spoke of in I Corinthians 15:50 to 52. I Corinthians 15:50 "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." Where our Lord sets up his kingdom of God, flesh man simply can not exist there. The things of this age of flesh man cannot exist in that Millennium kingdom and with Christ here on earth. This is telling us that when our Lord returns to this earth to set up his kingdom, not one soul will exist in their flesh body on earth at that time. "Corruption" is "the flesh body", as was explained in prior verses of this chapter, and "incorruption" is "the spiritual or soul body" that now resides within each of our flesh bodies. I Corinthians 15:51 "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed," Paul is about to reveal a mystery that has never been spoken of prior to this time he is speaking. A "mystery" is something that is unknown, but when revealed it is no more a mystery. This mystery deals with "sleep", or in the Greek text, "Koimao", "dying". Not just laying down to rest, but when life of the soul leaves these flesh bodies. Paul is telling us that a time is coming when all the people of this earth are going to stop living in their flesh bodies, and be changed into their "incorruptible bodies". Why? Because Christ is going to return to this earth, and "flesh and blood [bodies] can not inherit [exist]" with in that kingdom that Jesus will set up on this earth. I Corinthians 15:52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." Did you get that? A time is coming when every human being on the face of this earth will be changed from their flesh body into their spiritual or incorruptible body. This change will be instant, faster than you can wink a human eye. Paul never left us in the dark as to when this change will take place, for it will be at the sound of the seventh and last trumpet. At that moment in time, all souls will see Jesus and know Him for who He is, God of their souls. At that time also, all of the other trumps will have taken place, and Satan's time of riding over that one world religious beast system will be over. This is why all souls shall bow a knee to Jesus as the true Messiah, and those that bowed a knee to Satan will want the mountains to fall on them. They will see that they were deceived into following the false Christ Satan, and worshipped him. I Corinthians 15:53 "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and his mortal must put on immortality." Friend, there will be no dying in this thousand year kingdom of our Lord, that starts at the seventh trump, and ends with the Great white throne judgment. There will be no aging and your mind will know and contain all the instruction that are within our Bible. The corruption of this flesh body will be gone, and "we must put on incorruption" that can only take place when we are with our spiritual or incorruptible bodies. Though many shall see that they were deceived, those elect with the seal of God in their foreheads will see or Lord and know that joyful sound of the seventh trumpet, for it will be blessed to each of God's elect. It will be "a time of rejoicing as we shall walk with the Lord, and in the light of His countenance." We are living in the generation that will see this all take place right before our eyes. The sound of that trumpet, the seventh and last will bring all humanity into the joy of the return of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, as He returns to set up His kingdom right here on earth, and continue that throne of David that has continued to this day. Psalms 89:16 "In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day: And in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted." It is "in Thy name", the name of Jesus Christ that we receive our power. There is no other name that gives us the power of all His promises. He gives each of us the authority of His power, when we use it. When you are under the blood of Christ, a believer, it belongs to you and you can use that power and authority, and God expects you to use it. So when things are just not going right, this should pick you up and boost your mental state. When Satan gets you down, order him and his demonic forces out of your life. You have that authority from God. However in Jesus name, all that sadness and affliction can be order out of your life. Psalms 89:17 "For Thou art the glory of their strength: And in Thy favour our horn shall be exalted." Don't expect strength to come from your arm, but your strength comes from Almighty God. Both physical and spiritual strength comes from our Lord. "Horn" is always symbolic of power, and our power and strength comes only from God. God has made many promise to you in His Word, and if you claim any of those promises in His name, "in righteousness", that promise will be given to you. If that request of yours is not granted, God will open a way or show you why it was not granted. Many times we pray to God for things that are not right for us, and in God's infinite wisdom, He will give us what is best for us. That is why the prayers we pray must be within the will of God. Psalms 89:18 "For the Lord is our defence; And the Holy one of Israel is our king." Only the Lord can defend us in these troubling times. There is no army in the world that can defend us against that which is written that shall come to pass in the end times. God, YHVH is our only defense. "The Holy one of Israel" is Jesus Christ our Lord, the King of Kings that shall return very shortly. He shall return at the sounding of the seventh and last trump. Psalms 89:19 "Then Thou spakest in vision to Thy Holy one, And saidst, "I have laid help upon one that is mighty: I have exalted one chosen out of the People." God saw fit to come to this earth, and live in a flesh body the same as you have, then to suffer the abuse of the Kenite Jewish religious leaders, and die at the hands of the Romans, so that your soul could be drawn back to Him. God humbled Himself for your sake. Hebrews 2:9 "But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man." Don't cry when you have a little pain. Jesus took all the abuse of the Jews and Romans and went to the cross as an innocent man so that your soul could be drawn back to the Father, and see eternal life. That is what grace is, All of God's riches given to you at the expense of the suffering and pain of our Lord Jesus Christ. It's God's Riches At Christ's Expense; GRACE. Jesus paid for your sins, and His blood is the only covering for all your sins upon repentance. Jesus is the Anointed one, the promised Messiah, and He is your Savior. Psalms 89:20 "I have found David My servant; With My holy oil have I anointed him:" "Anointed" in the Hebrew sense means "Messiah", and through David and the Nathan his son's blood line came our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Psalms 89:21 "With whom My hand shall be established: Mine arm also shall strengthen him." God is letting us know that He is in control of every one and thing in this earth age. This is the reason that we can have peace of mind when the world goes into chaos and all the events of the end times come upon us. He is our only wall of defense in troubled times. Psalms 89:22 "The enemy shall not exact upon him; Nor the son of wickedness afflict him." Sure the enemy, those Jewish Kenite religious leaders mocked and whipped Jesus, but He held His peace. Through Jesus' entire ministry they sought to murder him for exposing their ways and traditions, but they were not allowed to touch Jesus until the appointed time of God. Those things that happened to Jesus were all prophesied centuries in advance, and everything that was done before and at the cross was according to the words of the prophets written in God's holy Word. When Jesus came that first time, he came as a baby; born in a manger and raised and grew into manhood. But the next time Jesus returns to this earth he will come riding an a great white horse, and with a rod of iron in hand. All of those saints that have died and gone to be with Him in heaven wil; return with our Lord at this time. It will be a time of correction and change for those that had just been changed into their new incorruptible bodies, as He sets up his world kingdom here on earth. The Sanctuary will be cleansed again upon His arrival to this earth. Those that held fast to the end, and did not bow a knee to Satan will receive their rewards at the time of Christ's return. "Son of wickedness" is "Cain". Satan is "wickedness", the devil, and Cain was the child that was born through the sexual union between Satan and Eve in the garden of Eden. Jesus spoke of this in John 8:44, when He was addressing the Jewish Kenite religious Pharisees. John 8:43, 44 "Why do ye not understand My speech? even because ye cannot hear My word." John 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil [Satan], and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning [Cain, Genesis 4:8], and abode not in the truth, because there is not truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it." Genesis 3:13 "And the Lord God said unto the woman, "What is this that thou hast done?" And the woman said, "The serpent beguiled me" Paul spoke of this same Beguiling in II Corinthians 11:3; "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety...." "Beguiled" in the Greek is a sexual term, #1818, "Exapatao, from 1537, to seduce wholly:.." Then in #1537; "Ex, a point of origin." The point of origin of What? Of the Beguiling that took place by Satan in his role as the serpent or deceiver. Adam took part at the same time as Satan with the seduction of Eve, and from it came twins, Cain came first then Abel. Cain slew Abel his brother and became the first murderer, and that is what Jesus was calling to these Kenite Jewish leaders face. So why is this fact so covered up in the Scriptures and in church houses today? I Chronicles 2:55 "And the families of the scribes which dwelt inJabez [Jerusalem]; The Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab." Did you get that, these familes of scribes that are called the Nethinims in Ezra's day are not of the house of Judah or of any part of Israel, but of the house of Rechab, they are from "Cain", the son of the serpent the devil. Jesus was speaking to the Kenite Jewish leaders that claimed to Jews, yet were not. They were the offspring of those Nethinims that took over the priesthood in Ezra's day, and while in Babylonian captivity. "Kenite" means "of Cain", for Cain was conceived in the Garden of Eden, lied to God about his brother, and murdered him there at the beginning of this family record we call the bible. Satan is the devil, and he went by many names, of which "serpent", devil, and "the tree of good and evil" were roles that Satan played. Revelation 12:8, 9 point this out. Revelation 12:8, 9 "And prevailed not neither was there place found any more in heaven." [8] "And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." [9] The "great dragon" was Satan's role in that first earth age; "the "old serpent" was the sneaky role Satan played in deceiving and beguiling of Eve; in the conception of Cain, and "the devil" and deceiver is the role of Antichrist when Satan will soon come and deceive all the world of our generation. So the enemy as spoken on in Psalms 89:22 are the Kenites, the offspring of Satan that shall rule over the earth through their 4 hidden dynasties, and set up the government that Satan shall come and reside over. Those hidden dynasties are Political, Economic, Education, and Religion. All control will be set up through a combination of these four system, and it is already established right here on earth. Every nation on the face of the earth as signed on to the United Nations charter, and are controlled under it ten world agencies. Yet in Christ we are given victory over the evils of the wickedness of that enemy. They are the hidden ones that claim to be of our brother Judah, but lie and are of Satan. Jesus warned us of them in Revelation 2:9, and 3:9, for those two churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia were aware of the Kenites and would not allow their traditions and false doctrine to enter into their church and teachings. Jesus said here that those Kenites and their doctrines will not give you any trouble, and that is why we don't have to worry about them. Luke 10:18, 19 "And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." The serpents are the Kenites, and the scorpions are the fallen angels as talked about in Joel 1, and Revelation 9. We shall have power over them, but it is up to you to declare that power in Jesus' name. Psalms 89:23 "And I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague them that hate him." "I" [God] will beat down your foes when they come against you. God is promising that those that delight in hating God will receive the plagues. Stop and think for a moment, as most of the grain industry is controlled by the Kenites and their dynasties. Plagues are coming over our lands and hitting our crops and around the world, as their world system that hates God is starting to dominate the entire world. We are in the end times, and the things of that time are before us today. However that trouble will not come against you when you are of God, and love Him. God made a promise here that He will take care of your enemies in ways that you can't. Psalms 89:24 "But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him: And in My name shall his horn be exalted." God is making a promise to you that He shall continue his mercy with you, when you remain in Him. Keep in mind that your only power will come through His name, and by you calling on the name of Jesus Christ. Psalms 89:25 "I will set his hand also in the sea, And his right hand in the rivers." Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven, and in His name is there power to control the seas. Psalms 89:26 "He shall cry unto Me, `Thou art my father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.' " Jesus Christ is the Rock of our Salvation, and when you build your spiritual life, you build in on that firm foundation. That firm foundation are made of all the instructions that are written in His Word. The examples of things past give us the knowledge of our heavenly Father's emotions, and those things that God likes and dislikes. When we follow the instructions from God's Word, we are building on the rock of my salvation. The problem with churches today, is that they teach salvation that is necessary, and after one has made a commitment to God, they stop short of allowing that person to have the Rock of all the Word, to build their spiritual house upon. They feed only milk of the Word, and withhold the meat of the Word. They leave the Christian completely defenseless against the spiritual attack, and the events that will take place in these end times. The most useless thing in the world is a Christian that is ignorant of our Father letter to him or her. They are living in a dreamland, or fly away visions, and and are following a traditional story that is not written in our Father Word. This is why they will worship Antichrist at his arrival to earth at the sixth trumpet. Each of them will worship Satan as Jesus before the end of this earth age of the flesh. It will be done in ignorance. God has a plan for our time, and if you are ignorant of that plan, you can not be a useful part to that plan, but will hinder. That is why you must learn and study all of His Word. This is what brings about professionalism in the Word, with a touch from the Holy Spirit, you can be a service to our Heavenly Father. Psalms 89:27 "Also I will make him my firstborn, Highter than the kings of the earth." This is true, for God's elect will reign jointly in that Millennium age. Psalms 89:28 "My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, And My covenant shall stand fast with him." God's promises are eternal, that will never end. That covenant that God made to David is an eternal covenant. It is not accident that God has blessed our nation and the the other ten tribes of old nation of the house of Israel. God made a covenant and that covenant is being kept. Those ten tribes of the house of Israel migrated over the Caucasus mountains, and settled in Europe and the Americas and around the world, they were know by name names but the one that stuck with them is "Caucasian". The Caucasian nations of have a duty and purpose in fulfilling the things made in this covenant. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and our duty is to present Him and His entire word that the nation of the world can come to know and love Him as we do. If you have the spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear the Word with understanding, you have a destiny to present that word to those around you. Psalms 89:29 "His seed also will I make to endure for ever, And his throne as the days of heaven." In Jeremiah 33:20; "Thus saith the Lord; `If ye can break My covenant of the day, and My covenant of the night, and that there should not be a day and night in their season." Jeremiah 33:21 "Then may also My covenant be broken with David My servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, My ministers." That throne exists today, and there will be a copy of the lineage from David to Queen Elizabeth II at the end of this chapter. The sacred stone of destiny rest under the coronation chair under all the kings and queens that have been crown on David's throne. God has kept His Word to David to this day. Psalms 89:30 "If his children forsake My law, And walk not in My judgments;" This is a qualification to receive God's blessings. Psalms 89:31 "If they break My statutes, And keep not My commandments;" Psalms 89:32 "Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes." If God has punished you lately, there is a reason for it. Have you kept his Laws, statutes and commandments, and remained true to His Word? If not, there is repentance at the cross and in the name of Jesus Christ. Repent and get back in God's way of righteousness. If things had been hard, it is time to thank Him for correcting you in your time of trouble. God only corrects those that He loves. Psalms 89:33 "Nevertheless My lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him Nor suffer My faithfulness to fall." Our Heavenly Father loves all His children, but He will not lie to you. There are no cover-ups with our Heavenly Father. If you call yourself a Christian and play around with the things of this world, He will correct you and you can count on it. Psalms 89:34 "My covenant will I not break, Nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips." Every word of promise that God made to you as a believer of His Son and Word, will be kept and you can count on it. Psalms 89:35 "Once have I sworn by My holiness That I will not lie unto David." You can count on every promise in His Word. Old and New Testament alike. If you think that our Father's Word contradicts itself in any part, it is you that don't understand and not the Word, for there is no contradiction in the Word. It is true, but man's translation of it are messed up. Psalms 89:36 "His seed shall endure for ever, And his throne as the sun before Me." If the sun is in the sky and the moon is shining at night, that rest assured that God is still on the throne and He will keep every promise in His Word. We have a throne in heaven, and this throne in heaven is shared by our heavenly Father and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ. Are we talking about two different people? Of course not, for there is only one God, but God has two offices. It is just like a man with many offices, a father, a husband, a son of his father, and position at the work place, but all one man. However this earthly throne still exists today, and when our Lord Jesus Christ come to this earth at the seventh and last trumpet, he shall be the King that shall sit on that throne. Psalms 89:37 "It shall be established for ever as the moon, And as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah" This promise that God made to David of an eternal throne is just as sure as the sun in the sky, and the moon that shines at night. That establishes as a faithful witness to the promise of this throne. Then stop now, Selah and thing on what has just been said. Those thoughts we have just studied are to be connected with the solemn warning with the fulfillment in the visitation of judgment in the next twelve verses. So this is the judgment that shall come at the time of Jesus Christ return to earth at the seventh trump. It is a fact and you can count on it. Psalms 89:38 "But Thou hast cast off and abhorred, Thou hast been wroth with Thine anointed." Psalms 89:39 "Thou hast made void the covenant of Thy servant: Thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground." Remember it was David's sin that caused David's crown to be taken away for that short time. Psalms 89:40 "Thou hast broken down all his hedges; Thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin." Psalms 89:41 "All that pass by the way spoil him: He is a reproach to his neighbours." When David was at his lowest point of his life, even his own sons turned on him. Those close to him plotted against him, and he became a reproach to those around him and the crown. This can be applied to Christ in the same respect as it is to David, for when Christ was before the Jewish leaders, even His disciples turned on him and denied Him. Psalms 89:42 "Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice." His own people even helped the enemies of David, and we can also apply this to our Lord Jesus Christ in the final hours before His death. Psalms 89:43 "Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, And hast not made him to stand in the battle." God is saying here that He will turn his blade sideways so that he can not win a war. The fighting part of a sword is the time of the blade, and in time very shortly as our Nation turns from the Ways of God's Holy Word, God will turn America's sword blade sideways also. We have gone to battle in Korea, Viet Nam, against Iraq and else where and our blade was unable to finish the job we started. God will not honor a nation that turns its back on Him and His ways. We have the power and the might to win, but because of the wickedness back home, God withheld the victory from us. Psalms 89:44 "Thou hast made his glory to cease, And cast his throne down to the ground." Psalms 89:45 "The days of his youth hast Thou shortened: Thou hast covered him with shame. Selah." Again, stop and meditate on this fact. We are living in a time when our nation is turning its back on the instructions from God's Holy Word, and we are paying a dear price for it on the battle field. This Selah is connecting the visitation of the punishment that God brought on David, and those peoples and nations that turn their back on God, with the pray to remove it. Psalms 89:46 "How long, Lord? wilt Thou hide thyself for ever? Shall Thy wrath burn like fire?" There will be a little weeping going on in this prayer of repentance. Psalms 89:47 "Remember how short my time is: Wherefore hast Thou made all men in vain?" David is looking at how short his life here on earth is, and he is asking; is all this age of man's existence going on in this earth age for nothing? Psalms 89:48 "What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah." Of course all mankind shall see death, except those living at the sounding of the seventh and last trumpet. Stop and meditate on what has just been said. Your flesh goes to the grave and at that instant your soul goes to the Father that sent in into that embryo at conception. To be absent from the flesh is to be present with the Lord. This verse is calling attention that even the kings of this earth and the mighty warriors will see the death of their flesh bodies. These verses are the closing the verses to the Sanctuary, this third part or book of the Psalms. After this the next segment or book goes back to the book of the wilderness, starting with Psalms 90. So this Selah is connecting the fact of man's frailty, of even the strongest man, with the renewed and increased fervor of his complaint. Man will forget where his strength comes from. Remember, you must learn to depend on God's strength and the power of the name of Jesus Christ, or there will be much weeping in your life. Psalms 89:49 "Lord, where are Thy former lovingkindnesses, Which Thou swarest unto David in Thy truth?" Psalms 89:50 "Remember, Lord, the reproach of Thy servants; How I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;" "People" as given here, should be translated "Nations". It wasn't God that brought reproach on David, but he brought it on by his own actions. That is as it is with any nation that turns it's back on God. Psalms 89:51 "Wherewith Thine enemies have reproached, O Lord; Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of Thine Anointed." David's footsteps were reproached for the deeds that he had done, and the reproach that came of Christ's footsteps were not for His deeds but for those of all mankind that will repent and turn to Almighty Father in Jesus name. He paid the price for our sins. He became a reproach for us, to allow sin to be taken away from any soul that would repent and turn from their wicked ways. Friend, when you follow in those footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ you will be reproached also. This earth age of the flesh man is not our home, but our soul's eternal home is within that kingdom of Jesus Christ. Our Rock and firm foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Almighty Father. Psalms 89:52 "Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen." "...Amen and Amen", and this closes the third book of the Psalms, that dealing with the Sanctuary. With the starting of the nex chapter, Psalms 90, we enter the Numbers-book of the Psalms. In that forth book the subject material will correspond with those subjects of the book of Numbers. It's teaching, like the other books of the Psalms will be Dispensational, with earth as the central thought. God's counsels and purposes are given with regard to this earth, and the nations of the earth, from the ruin to the glory; as we have seen them set for in the prior books of (1) Man, (2) Israel, (3) the Sanctuary. The sin that has come into the world has ruined not just mankind but the earth itself. Sin has made the paradise of God a wilderness, and death has filled it with sorrow and sadness. There is no hope for the earth, no hope for the nations of the earth, and no hope for creation, apart from Jehovah. Psalms 90 and 91 set the stage for the entire fourth book of Psalms, dealing with the wilderness of this earth. This wilderness will continue until the coming of the true King Jesus Christ, and then only will the entire earth and all that is on it will be blessed. _______________________________________________________________________________________
