When
You See Jerusalem Compassed with Armies, Luke 21
By Servant of God
Jerusalem
is the point of the Lord's prophecy, in Luke. There is nothing
of this in Matthew or Mark.
Luke 21: 7 And they
asked Him, saying, "master, but when shall these things be"?
and "what sign will there be when these things shall come to
pass"?
Luke 21: 8 And
He said, “Take heed that ye be not deceived: For many
shall come in My name, saying, ‘I am Christ,’ and the
time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them".
For many It
was the first sign as to “when” (v 7 ) Cp. 1 John 2. 18,
“the last hour”
1 John 2:18 Little
children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that ANTICHRIST
shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that
it is the last time.
Let's go to Luke 21 and get the
timeline for when Jerusalem will be compassed with Armies.
Luke 21:12 But
before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute
you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being
brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake
Luke 21:13 And it
shall turn to you for a testimony.
Luke 21:14 Settle it
therefore in your in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall
answer:
Luke 21:15 For I
will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not
be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luke 21:16 And ye
shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and
friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Now the two witnesses and Antipas
will be the only ones put to death.
Luke 21:17 And ye
shall be hated of all men for My name`s sake.
Luke 21:18 But there
shall NOT an hair of your head perish.
Luke 21:19 In your
patience possess ye your souls.
So we see that the Elect will be
betrayed and delivered up to the synagogues of Satan and brought
before kings and rulers for His name`s sake.
And after these things.
Luke 21:20 And
when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the
desolation thereof is nigh.
The word “desolation” is 2050 erḗmōsis (from 2049 /erēmóō,
"lay waste, make destitute, barren") – desolation (desecration)
that results from being cut off (isolated).
Cognate: 2049 erēmóō (from 2048 /érēmos,
"wilderness, desolate area") – make desolate, isolated
(left alone); lay waste, destroy (leave abandoned, deserted).
This will be the result of that
desolation that comes after Jerusalem is compassed with armies.
Luke 21:5 And as
some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and
gifts, He said,
Luke 21:6 “As for
these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall
not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down,”
It will be the Day of God's
vengeance that will cause that desolation.
Now which armies? And when
will they compass Jerusalem? We find that in Revelation 16
Revelation 16:12
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates
; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the
east might be prepared.
Revelation 16:13 And
I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the
dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the
false prophet.
Revelation 16:14
For they are spirits of devils, working miracles, which go
forth unto the kings of the earth and (of the earth and.
The texts omit.) of the WHOLE
WORLD, to gather them to the battle of that
great day of God Almighty.
Revelation 16:16 And
he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue
Armageddon.
So the armies are the kings of the
whole world.
Revelation 16:16 And
he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
Luke 21:20 And when
ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the
desolation thereof is nigh.
Zechariah 12:9-11
also has a portion addressing the battle of Armageddon:
Zechariah 12:9 And
it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the
nations that come against Jerusalem.
Zechariah 12:10 And
I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall
look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as
one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as
one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Zechariah 12:11 In
that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning
of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
Luke 21:21 Then let
them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are
in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the
countries enter thereinto.
Luke 21:22 For these
be the days of vengeance, that all things which are
written may be fulfilled.
Compared with Hosea 9:7:
Hosea 9:7 The
days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come;
Israel shall know it; the prophet is a fool. the spiritual man is
mad,” for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
Recap
- We
were told that Antichrist would come.
- Then
we were told that we would be delivered up to the Synagogues of
Satan for a testimony.
- Then
after that, when you see Jerusalem compassed with armies.
- We
are told that those armies are the Kings of the WHOLE
WORLD, Revelation 16:14.
- And
when we see those armies gathered together for the battle of
Armageddon, then let them which are in Judea flee to the
mountains.
- For
these be the days of vengeance, that all things
which are written may be fulfilled.
