Daniel
9, Jeremiah 25
The
last 70 years that are determined upon our people, for the king of
Babylon which will come
By Servant of God
Daniel
is 87 years old (same age as in the 8th chapter)
Darius = Cyrus (thought by many
scholars)
Daniel is telling us the things that
will befall, but who is it that is actually telling us? Almighty God.
Daniel Chapter 9
Daniel 9:1 In the
first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes,
which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
Darius means “maintainer”
Their land is what we would call
Iran of today. And Darius was made king over what we would call Iraq
today, above the Persian Gulf.
Daniel 9:2 In the
first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the
years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that
he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
That is written in Jeremiah 25:11
Let's go
there to read the prophecy that was given to Jeremiah, from the
same God (YHVH)
Jeremiah Chapter 25
Jeremiah 25:11 And
this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these
nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Seventy years is the years of the
captivity.
Jeremiah 25:12 And
it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I
will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for
their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it
perpetual desolations.
And it would be from here that the
final desolator, king of Babylon would come.
Jeremiah 25:13 And I
will bring upon that land all (not some, but ALL) my words which I
have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book,
which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.
Next we will see the time this is
really talking about....
Jeremiah 25:14 For
many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also:
(that’s to say Gods Children) and I will recompense them according
to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.
Jeremiah 25:15 For
thus saith the Lord God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this
fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to
drink it.
Jeremiah 25:16 And
they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that
I will send among them.
And the reason that Daniel would
refer to Jeremiah and that cup of God’s wrath – you’ll find out
that ultimately he means the last 70 years that are determined upon
our people, for the king of Babylon which will come. In other words,
it has to do with us today as well as the period of Daniel’s time.
That time being a type of the captivity. Now we are back to pure
Hebrew, this being the second chapter – returning to pure Hebrew.
Back to Daniel Chapter 9
Daniel 9:3 And I set
my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplication, with
fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Daniel praying to the Father, not
necessarily praying for himself, but for God’s people. Asking
direction, God’s influence upon the family, and so forth.
Daniel 9:4 And I
prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord,
the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them
that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Condition here, “to those who love
Him and to them that keep His commandments”. If you want a blessed
life, communicate with Him. Let Him know you care. That is
why that cup – as people abuse God’s children that cup of wrath
builds and builds. It shall be poured out, when that time comes that
our Heavenly Father is ready.
Daniel 9:5 We have
sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have
rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
In other words, we’ve left your
Word, which is not something you want to do. Although Daniel and some
of his friends held to that Word, many of Judah and Israel did not.
Daniel 9:6 Neither
have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy
name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people
of the land.
In other words, you sent up
spokespersons that delivered your will and your way and we didn’t
listen to them.
Daniel 9:7 O Lord,
righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as
at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all
the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass
that they have trespassed against thee.
This is both houses, Judah and
Israel and the city God loves, Jerusalem. God said He was going to
scatter them to the four corners of the earth when they disobey Him,
and they are scattered to this day. Those 10 tribes that went north
over the Caucasus mountains (then called Caucasians) who settled
Europe and later migrated to Canada and the Americas. Those
making up the house of Israel (not the house of Judah). In that God
scattered them, they have “confusion of faces” because many do not
even know who they are. They have not followed His precepts, His
commandments, and or tell God they love Him.
Daniel 9:8 O Lord,
to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and
to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
To sin, and leave the righteousness
of God (for God is always right), the sooner you can understand and
recognize it, and the moment you want to do what is right, you’re
going to follow His righteousness and learn by it, be corrected by it,
be edified by it, whereby you receive His blessings instead of living
in a world that is all confused, not even knowing you are a child of
God and that you fit in prophecy as to what it is you are supposed to
do. You have a destiny, and many have known since they were
young they have a purpose – and you were never taught. But when you
get into God’s Word you see that destiny, as He speaks to His
election as they are delivered up to the false Messiah.
Daniel 9:9 To the
Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled
against him;
He still will forgive you when you
repent.
Daniel 9:10 Neither
have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws,
which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Do things God’s way, not man’s
way.
Daniel 9:11 Yea, all
Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might
not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the
oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because
we have sinned against him.
Moses wrote this curse, we will read
about it in a moment.
Daniel 9:12 And he
hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our
judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the
whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
And so it is, that city that was
once called Jebus because it had an unclean birth and God took it
under His wing and made an everlasting covenant with the location
Jerusalem on which it sits in Judea. And He wed it forever and it’s
where His eternal temple will be established as it is written in
Ezekiel Chapter 16 and Revelation Chapter 21.
JERUSALEM IS THE BAROMETER. YOU WANT
TO WATCH IT AND WATCH IT CLOSELY.
Daniel 9:13 As it is
written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made
we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our
iniquities, and understand thy truth.
Where was this written, and when did
he write it? He wrote it in the book of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy
28:15. You should read it because it is very fitting of this
hour and this time. Here is the curse, this is what it is:
Deuteronomy Chapter
28
Deuteronomy 28:15
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of
the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his
statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall
come upon thee, and overtake thee:
He is saying these curses are going
to take you over.
Deuteronomy 28:16
Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the
field.
House unto house.
Deuteronomy 28:17
Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Pay more taxes on your groceries
than you used to pay for groceries years ago. Why these
things? Because we did not obey our Father.
Deuteronomy 28:18
Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the
increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Polluted.
Deuteronomy 28:19
Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be
when thou goest out.
Without God you don’t have much of
a chance in this world today, when you look at it. Hard to keep your
sanity today without the Word of God. The Word was planned long
ago, and God is simply trying to get his people’s attention.
Deuteronomy 28:20
The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all
that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed,
and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy
doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
The Lord will do that. But you
can avoid it by inoculating yourself with the truth, with the Word of
God. Follow Him, let Him know you love Him AND YOU AUTOMATICALLY
BECOME IMMUNE TO ALL THOSE CURSES. God will give you such
blessings that you will override. And blessings that will take care of
the cursings that He will send on others because He loves you. God
never curses those He loves.
Deuteronomy 28:21
The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have
consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
Deuteronomy 28:22
The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and
with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword,
and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until
thou perish.
Deuteronomy 28:23
And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth
that is under thee shall be iron.
Deuteronomy 28:24
The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven
shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Deuteronomy 28:25
The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou
shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them:
and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Deuteronomy 28:26
And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the
beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
Deuteronomy 28:27
The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods,
and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be
healed.
Deuteronomy 28:28-68
is included below for you to read the rest of the cursing's spoken of
by Moses.
28
The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and
astonishment of heart:
29 And thou shalt grope at noonday,
as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy
ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no
man shall save thee.
30 Thou shalt betroth a wife, and
another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou
shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not
gather the grapes thereof.
31 Thine ox shall be slain before
thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be
violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored
to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt
have none to rescue them.
32 Thy sons and thy daughters shall
be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with
longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in
thine hand.
33 The fruit of thy land, and all
thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou
shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
34 So that thou shalt be mad for the
sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
35 The Lord shall smite thee in the
knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from
the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
36 The Lord shall bring thee, and
thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither
thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other
gods, wood and stone.
37 And thou shalt become an
astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the
Lord shall lead thee.
38 Thou shalt carry much seed out
into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall
consume it.
39 Thou shalt plant vineyards, and
dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the
grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
40 Thou shalt have olive trees
throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the
oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
41 Thou shalt beget sons and
daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into
captivity.
42 All thy trees and fruit of thy
land shall the locust consume.
43 The stranger that is within thee
shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
44 He shall lend to thee, and thou
shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the
tail.
45 Moreover all these curses shall
come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be
destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy
God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded
thee:
46 And they shall be upon thee for a
sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
47 Because thou servedst not the
Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the
abundance of all things;
48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine
enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put
a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
49 The Lord shall bring a nation
against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the
eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
50 A nation of fierce countenance,
which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the
young:
51 And he shall eat the fruit of thy
cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also
shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy
kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
52 And he shall besiege thee in all
thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou
trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all
thy gates throughout all thy land, which the Lord thy God hath given
thee.
53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of
thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the
Lord thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
54 So that the man that is tender
among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his
brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of
his children which he shall leave:
55 So that he will not give to any
of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he
hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith
thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
56 The tender and delicate woman
among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon
the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil
toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her
daughter,
57 And toward her young one that
cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she
shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in
the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in
thy gates.
58 If thou wilt not observe to do
all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou
mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE Lord THY God;
59 Then the Lord will make thy
plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues,
and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
60 Moreover he will bring upon thee
all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall
cleave unto thee.
61 Also every sickness, and every
plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the
Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
62 And ye shall be left few in
number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because
thou wouldest not obey the voice of the Lord thy God.
63 And it shall come to pass, that
as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so
the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to
nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest
to possess it.
64 And the Lord shall scatter thee
among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other;
and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy
fathers have known, even wood and stone.
65 And among these nations shalt
thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but
the Lord shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes,
and sorrow of mind:
66 And thy life shall hang in doubt
before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none
assurance of thy life:
67 In the morning thou shalt say,
Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were
morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and
for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
68 And the Lord shall bring thee
into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee,
Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your
enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
Returning to Daniel
Chapter 9
Daniel 9:14
Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us:
for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for
we obeyed not his voice.
He’s aware. He allowed us to
bring in upon ourselves. God is always fair and God is always
righteous, but man will always bring things on himself. We live
in a free society and you can go against God. But if you want
God’s blessings they will not follow you, instead you’ll walk face
to face with the curses that Moses forewarned you about in Deuteronomy
Chapter 28. Read His Word and learn to avoid the curse.
Daniel 9:15 And now,
O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of
Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day;
we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
God who parted the Red Sea, who fed
them manna in the wilderness, brought them right out of captivity,
enslaved in Egypt, and freed them. Brought them into the
promised land and they still would not listen to Him.
Daniel 9:16 O Lord,
according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger
and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy
mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers,
Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about
us.
And so it is. Look at
Jerusalem today. You cannot cry peace, peace, peace there.
You can’t even get people to the peace table. And the fig tree is
planted there, both the good and the bad figs as it written in
Jeremiah Chapter 24. Four chapters before the Chapter 28 of the
curses. God’s love going out to his favorite spot, a spot He loves
so much and it is still in the hands of the gentiles. It won’t
always be. THAT DAY IS COMING OF THAT CUP.
Daniel 9:17 Now
therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his
supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is
desolate, for the Lord's sake.
Daniel speaking. Look at it
today, look at the abomination. How sad it is, and our Father
must weep. But that day is coming, and this builds the wrath of
God. This is why that 70 period is very important. You want to
pay close attention to it. Because at the end, if you noticed in
Jeremiah, of the final 70 weeks upon our people, that cup is going to
be poured out. AND THAT TIME IS APPROACHING. That’s why we are
reading this and studying God’s Word, so we can understand.
Daniel 9:18 O my
God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our
desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not
present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for
thy great mercies.
We don’t deserve it, but with
unmerited favor look upon us, bless our people. Again, Daniel
not praying for himself, not even praying for him and the three Hebrew
children, but praying for all of God’s children. Being the
very spokesman prophet for God’s utilized by God to interpret dreams
and visions. Here he pleads for that mercy from our Heavenly Father.
Daniel 9:19 O Lord,
hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine
own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy
name.
Don’t put it off. For your own
sake, and for your own love of your children, take action. Bring the
blessings. Blessings come when one deserves them. Because God is
always right and God is always fair. God will answer Daniel’s
prayer. And God will answer all those who fall in line and are attune
to following just as Daniel did, in asking our Heavenly Father for His
mercies, to hear you. You want to remember also to repent and
ask for forgiveness...and thank Him for forgiving you. Get into
His Word. That right path. And stay on it as best you can.
Daniel 9:20 And
whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin
of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my
God for the holy mountain (Mt. Zion) of my God;
Daniel 9:21 Yea,
whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen
in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched
me about the time of the evening oblation.
About the time of the evening
offering. God loving Daniel listening to His prayer, God sends
this one. Gabriel meaning “man of God”. God sends this
one to interpret, explain and to clarify.
Daniel 9:22 And he
informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come
forth to give thee skill and understanding.
This is why you study God’s Word.
So that you can gain skill, and so that you can gain
understanding. Why is it so important to have understanding? Because
it is the nature of man to only fear what he does not know.
If man knows pretty well what is
going to happen, he is a protective creature and will plan a way
through it, over it or around it. He’ll take care of it. And
that is the way God created His children. So wisdom is to understand
what God is about to do, and what the wicked ones are about to do is a
very important thing. Because it allows you to foreknow AND TO BE
READY. For ultimately, as it is written God’s elect must stand
before the false messiah, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through
them to take care of business. That is true wisdom and that is why
skill and understanding is so necessary especially concerning the 70
weeks of time, the 70 years of time, WRITTEN IN THE GREAT BOOK OF
JEREMIAH. Given directly from God to Jeremiah. God gave it through the
prophet Jeremiah because God is totally in control. He is ruling, He
is in command, and God takes care of His own.
Daniel 9:23 At the
beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am
come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand
the matter, and consider the vision.
Gabriel begins to explain. God
never leaves us wanting. This is why it is so important that you PRAY
FOR WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING. Most people in God’s overall plan,
there are going to be times that you are going to have trouble
understanding. So who do you talk to? YOU TALK TO HIM FOR SKILL AND
UNDERSTANDING. And here, this Daniel was so loved by God, God sent
this one (Gabriel) to leave this message for all of us, all of God’s
children, exactly how it would be. God hears supplications,
which is to say, prayer or your wishes. He hears them well. And God
will always to what is best for you. God will always follow through in
that light. And He will take care of you. He will keep you posted.
Now what is the vision? We will get to the first part
here.
Daniel 9:24 Seventy
weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish
the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting
righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint
the most Holy.
TO FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION, TO MAKE
AN END OF SIN....TO MAKE RECONCILIATION FOR INIQUITY, TO BRING
EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS...
This is yet future. Meaning THE END
SHALL COME and that’s what these 70 weeks are about. Now to jog your
memory a bit. Do you remember when Jesus walked into the synagogue? He
picked up the scroll of Isaiah and He read from that great scroll (or
book of Isaiah) and he said THIS DAY I HAVE COME IN THE
NAME OF SALVATION, THIS IS THE DAY OF SALVATION, now he stopped in the
middle of his sentence. Because the end of the sentence says AND THE
DAY OF VENGEANCE. The day of vengeance is the pouring out of the cup.
So there is a gap between the day of salvation and the day of
vengeance. Just as in this 70 week period, we are going to cover 69
weeks. AND THAT LAST WEEK WILL BE BROKEN APART. IT’S THE GAP BECAUSE
IT IS THE GAP OF THE WEEK OF VENGEANCE OF WHICH OUR FATHER WILL COME.
AND HE WILL TAKE THAT VENGEANCE. And it is so very important. Again,
I want to remind you. Jesus went into the synagogue and he
picked up the book of Isaiah, and he read that first part of the
sentence. Which stated “this is the day of salvation".
70 x 70 = 490 years
490 years – 7 = 1 week of years
leaving us 483 years (and it was approximately that long when Christ
would come at the first advent and would be anointed)
But all those prophecies, such as
sin being done away with, and everything made right, that doesn’t
happen until the 2nd advent and at the end of the Lord’s Day as you
have learned from the great book of Revelation. Here we begin to see
Daniel and the book of Revelation hook together like a glove. And this
explanation of this prophecy as we go into it. It explains to you the
false Messiah, how he will come in, and then you will understand why
Jesus would say in Mark 13 and Matt 24, when you see the abomination
of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, THEN KNOW AND
UNDERSTAND FLEE JUDEA. Why? Because this is for THIS DAY. This
is a prophecy concerning this generation of the fig tree. How good our
Father is, and righteous He is that He brings us these truths EVEN
BEFORE THE FACT, WHEREBY YOU ARE PREPARED.
Luke 21:22
22 For these be the
days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Isaiah 61:1-3
1 The Spirit of the
Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good
tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to
them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the
acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to
comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto
them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil
of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the
planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
