A Study on the Spirit of Slumber
 and Strong Delusion

Let's start with the spirit of slumber.  slumber = stupor.
 
Let's start in ROMANS Chapter 11

Now the subject of verses 1-10 is God's purpose regarding the remnant accomplished.

Romans 11:1-3 The majority of Israel rejected God.

Romans 11:4-6 A remnant reserved, according to God's election.

Romans 11:7   The remnant obtained what the nation lost.

Romans 11:7-10 Fate of majority.  God hardened them.
 
Romans 11:4  But what saith the answer of God unto him? “I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.”

These are the 7,000 of God's elect.

Romans 11:7  What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for ; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

Romans 11:8 (According as it is written, “God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear”) unto this day.

Romans 11:9  And David saith, “Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

Romans 11:10  "Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.”

Bible Usage: slumber.
Definition: 
a prickling (sensation as of the limbs asleep) that is (by implication [perhaps by some confusion with G3506 or even with G3571]) stupor (lethargy)

So we see that God's Elect obtained that which he seeketh for, and the rest of Israel were blinded. God sent them the spirit of slumber for their own protection, so they don't commit the unforgivable sin. So you know why He sent that spirit? So that Israel went to sleep a little bit, but salvation was opened up to the whole world. Whomsoever will believe upon Him.  So it was a good purpose. For a good reason, and at the same time, correcting those who need correcting.
Now the spirit of slumber is a prickling sensation of the mind where they don't get it. Why did God sent it? They would not listen in the first place, because they did not care, and in all fairness it's safeness for them.  So they are not accountable.

Now let's go to ISAIAH Chapter 29

Isaiah 29:9  Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, nut not with strong drink. (They stagger because their legs are asleep)

Isaiah 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath He covered.

Isaiah 29:13  Wherefore the LORD said, “forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men;
